OK Good starting point is emptying the boot I do have a lot of unnessisery stuff in their also a baby seat that is a permanant fixture although the chrandchild is only with me perhaps 20% of the time.
Staying under 60mph does that make a big difference? That will be hard but I will give it a good try....wondered why so many cars tucked up behind trucks.Ebay 13........1583.46/2000.00 Amazon sales 54/50 Etsy sales 63/50

Unless you have some fuel in now you will not make it, unless its all motorways you will be looking at 50mpg at most, more likely low to mid 40's if lots of trafic so expect between 450 and 500 miles on £50
But if you tank is full now and you still have £50 to play with you will be fine.
You sound like my wife, she runs a self filling car as well :-)Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -

Yes, it makes a massive difference, depending on the car. My old 1.4 petrol would manage 55-57mpg at 56mph, only 40-42mpg at 70. There's less difference with my new car (1.5 diesel), but it's still noticeable....
And it compounds...If you're only going to do 50-55mph anyway, quite often taking the "short" route rather than the "quick" route will end up being faster anyway - and save a lot of fuel.0 -
Keep it at 56mph behind the trucks, don't brake or accelerate unnecessarily. Freewheel in gear whenever you can when slowing down instead of braking (need to be planning ahead for traffic lights etc). You probably still won't get 700 miles but you'll get far!0

I can't find the exact model, but ford mondeo diesels appear to get around 40mpg average on fuelly.
You need to cut your milage in half to make it, IMO.
You can accelerate smoothly, not exceed 60mph, keep engine revs low and avoid panic braking as much as you like, but you're not going to turn a 40mpg car into an 80mpg one.
Avoid unneccesary journeys, find alternative transport methods, car share, whatever. But don't hope for magic from your machine.0 -

OK I have just under half a tank at the moment, so empting the boot and taking out the baby seat.
Sound more realistic now?Ebay 13........1583.46/2000.00 Amazon sales 54/50 Etsy sales 63/50

I wouldn't say it makes a big difference, but it makes a difference. If you want to eek out every mile, you're going to have to get hot.
If you've got a hand fan, take that with you. Driving with the windows down is a no-go for economy.0 -
