I have never knowingly lied on a competition entry form.

I give my correct name, address, phone number and age.

I don't enter for things that are not relevant to my family or myself (so no weddings, babies ect)

As I always say though we are not here to judge we are here to win competitions. each to their own and good luck to all ;)

  • I don't lie as such and like to think I'm a fair comper. I don't enter competitions if either me or my immediate family aren't eligible to win, but I do enter competitions in my children's or husbands name but they are always aware I'm doing it.
I also enter competitions for items that would be useful for my parents/siblings etc and that I wouldn't use but I always enter in my own name and only if there are no restrictions, ie I enter competitions for baby items which I would give to my sister but I wouldn't lie about being pregnant in order to enter. If there is a trying to conceive option, I'll tick that but that's not exactly untrue, it's just unlikely to ever happen.
One area I do 'lie' in, is that I'll often only have 1 child when they want full name, Gender and DOB, I use their correct details but miss off their siblings in order to make form filling quicker ;)

I sometimes put my mums details in if it's something she'll like but she knows I do it. Other than that, I don't lie and don't enter comps for kids/families/brides/mums because I'm none of those...and I don't enter other ones like: motorbike/musical instrument competitions because I think it should go to a motorbike/musical instrument enthusiast rather than someone who will just sell it.

I joined some grandparent website in order to enter the comp. I didn't realise you had to be a grandparent but I did feel puzzled that the year of birth was no later than the 1970's. I still entered it anyway.

I don't lie, as I don't think it's in the spirit of fair comping :)

If it asks a wedding date for a prize, I tell the truth and use the actual date I got married - five years ago. Most of the websites let you enter that date, so I figure it's up to them to decide whether they think I'm a veritable winner... :)

I never lie about having children / grandchildren... Though I do enter the vegetarian mags' comps, and I'm not a veggie (but I always tick the non-veggie box, if the form asks me). :rotfl:

I lie every time I do the mag daillies and get the one where the only way to opt out is to say "I don't like competitions"

On a mildly similar note, for those of us who have trouble logging into our Real People accounts and have to enter our details manually:

'No thanks - I like typing'

(I actually don't mind typing at all but if my account functioned correctly then it would save a few valuable seconds! ;))

Think I'll try that, hadn't even occurred to me that they might accept a historical date, cheers :T

I wouldnt make up a fake story to win something like some people do on Facebook with sob stories, I do lie about my age sometimes like if its to win an Ipad on a teenage site i will say i am 15  but its something I would like to win!

I also enter lots of wedding comps even though I am married but not for things like dresses just the holidays or something i could use like if it was a TV or vouchers. As long as the terms allow me to enter I will enter

I have 3 children of different ages so I do enter in their name and have won some lovely kids toys but i do enter on their behalf and they are used by my children. also occasionally il enter on behalf of hubby if it is something i know he would like such as tickets to a sport event, as no point me putting it in my name as i hate sport :D

oh yes the sob stories ..some are really uncomfortable..such as i deserve to win as my mum died last year, my dad the year before it, my cat was posioned, i lost a baby and my boyfriends just moved out as ive been diagnosed with cancer..(first really sick to make those things up) and wow really you should be on eastenders. No i do't lie but when they ask for questions like why is your dad the best (mines never been around) i say my fil.

If they say things like why is your dad (or mum) the best, I say something like "My Dad is sadly no longer with us. I hope that you don't exclude me from your completition, as I would love to win this experience to share with my son."
