I don't give my real DOB - I am a few months younger in the comping world! I only do this to try and prevent identity theft. I don't bother with the likes of wedding/pregnancy comps when they ask you for your wedding date or due date in case they check up! A while ago I did toy with the idea of saying 'Oh I called the wedding off when I walked in on my fiance and my best friend in bed together! OR it was a phantom pregnancy - if I did win and had lied! But no - I don't and wouldn't lol!

Oooops - I might have told a few white lies though - like if the company asks 'why do you want to win this microwave?' I might say 'My microwave is on its last legs and the defrost no longer works so I could do with a new one!' Now that isn't too bad is it! :)

To be honest, I think many people lie to win Mother's day and Father's Day prizes. Often company's ask 'Why does you dad/mum deserve to win this prize? or 'What do you love most about your dad/mum? and every one posts how much they adore the pants off their dad/mum because they have supported them throughout their cancer/illness/marriage break up etc etc!
I bet there are loads of compers out there who don't get on with their parents and, if being honest, would probably describe their dad as 'a lazy b*****d who sits on his fat b***side all day drinking beer and watching tv' and their mum is an 'interfering old bat who never offers to babysit!'

And on the subject of Mother's day/Father's day comps - it is amazing how many mums/dads have been battling cancer for so many years or are going to die next year - That is one lie I would NEVER use - I would feel terrible if my poor mum or dad found out I had won their Mother's day or Father's day present by telling a company that they were dying or had been fighting cancer when they hadn't - they would be really upset and annoyed with me!

I recently entered a fathers day competition that asked why you love your dad, and I said 'I don't' and explained why. Sadly I was not chosen as the winner.....not sure why :rotfl:

NOTE TO SELF - Need to start lying to win fathers day comps.

ive been tempted to put mr instead of miss as i have a gender neutral name as i have had people say oh i was expecting a male when they phone to say i won but i have never done so

i do put my parents address sometimes when competitions are for that area such as win a meal at x as i would use the win to go see my family and then take them to the meal also i use their address for prizes i feel may go walk about if the wrong postie got hold of it (bad experience with postman and couriers around my area) but i never enter once for my address and then once for theirs

I've shortened my name to Pat when i enter comps on women's sites and my title to Ms. I also changed the year on the DOB for ID theft purposes (if anyone asks me to confirm i'll just say it must be a typo).

I do the same, if it's something aimed at OH/my DD's. I'm either 15 years older, 20 years younger, female, or a mix of these :D:cool:

plus one of my pets may have been listed as a child on one comp as had to put a name and age (was somewhere I really wanted to go) :o

I'm not sure there's many 11 year olds called Rude Boy out there, but a 5 year old called Izzy I might get away with ;) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
