  • Given that I have a bit of a creative flair, when it comes to effort based comps that require sharing stories/experiences/embarrassing moments I do tend to let my imagination run wild- simply because in truth I'm not all that interesting :embarasse

I enter motorbike comps as my husband (as I cant ride a bike but he can :D), my son has entered hundreds of comps ;) and now my daughter is also getting her name put in the hat.

I do enter the wedding comps (despite being married) if its for a holiday, jewellery (not actual wedding stuff like invites ) and put the actual date of my wedding in the date box thus leaving up to the promoter as to whether im eligable to win.

I dont make stuff up to win the effort comps (which might be why I never win them :rotfl:) as it doesnt sit right with my concience, but then again I loathe the 'tell us why you/your mum/your husband deserve to win this awesome prize! the most heartrending story will get it popped in the post to them!' followed closely by vote for me comps

I too keep making a typo when entering my date of birth, simply because I am wary of identity theft. Other than that, I might tell a little white lie, if for example a rafflecopter competition was giving away say Cadburys Chocolate as a prize and the comment asked for your favourite chocolate. Even if my favourite was say Galaxy, I would say that Cadburys was my favourite.

In the T&Cs of a lot of comps, it does say that if you put in false details, you could be disqualified. So if you change your DOB, fake names, addresses etc, then the company can take the prize away and it doesn't matter if you say it was a typo as they can say that you should have typed details in more carefully.

I realise that and do so knowing full well that it is a risk that I am prepared to take.

    That's fair enough then :)

My comment wasn't aimed at you in particular (was going to post it earlier but was busy entering comps) but was just highlighting something in the T&Cs of comps that a lot of people don't normally read so are not aware they could forfeit a prize

Hi,its never been an issue in quite a few years of comping. It was not even mentioned when I won two big holidays but I do understand the risk.
The cost/benefit analysis seems to favour me carrying on with the lies re DOB though :-)
