Do you lie?

  • .... and I enter kids comps in my son's name. I sometimes wonder whether they check the time of entry as I'm usually on late at night, so why would an 8 year old be entering at 1.00 in the morning?

    Do I lie? No. But I would say that - wouldn't I....?

I have a slight "typo" in my DOB when I enter comps plus sometimes I pretend to be a Lady on some comps.
I even pretend to be a child sometimes as well.

It's out in the open now :-)

What does your gf/wife say?

I do the same, if it's something aimed at OH/my DD's. I'm either 15 years older, 20 years younger, female, or a mix of these :D:cool:

  • Yes I do lie. A competition is about competing. If you have an opportunity to get yourself noticed for the top prize then you've got to do what it takes to win it.

I pretend my grandkids are my kids. My age differs with the comps and yes I do sometimes pretend I have had a new baby and use my grandkids birth dates with a different year. :rotfl: All's fair in love and war as they say.:)

I do that too - not really lying though as they are children who are part of my close family

I've only been comping for a couple of weeks and I haven't lied thus far. I enter the women's comps because I have a wife and 2 daughters but I always enter as myself. I won a nice pair of earrings yesterday so presumably it makes no difference what sex you are anyway?

I do wonder whether to change my DOB slightly though as I'm a little bothered about identity theft.

plus one of my pets may have been listed as a child on one comp as had to put a name and age (was somewhere I really wanted to go) :o

Hahaha :rotfl: genuinely thought I was the only one who has ever done this! Only when it's for a non-baby related object though.

I also enter as my Mum if it has to be a '50+' comp, but generally those are for prizes I would give to her anyway. And I doubt there are many people who haven't stretched the truth on the 'why my Mum/Dad/Tortoise/Postie blah blah' is the best. They aren't lying really anyway, to me.

I don't enter the vote for me comps, but I automatically assume they are almost all made up anyway

I have several user ID's on RoboForm, which I pick and choose depending on the competition, and use all of them for the ITV comps (except DD's as she is under 18). The main one I use contains my actual name, DOB, etc, but I also have one for my DD, one for DH, one for Facebook entries (in which I am 20 years younger - if only it was that easy!) and occasionally I just put in my initials and change gender. I don't have one for my pets though, but I wouldn't rule it out!

I also enter comps for the over 50's, if the prize appeals to me, even though I'm not quite there yet.

Apart from that, I also do bend the truth a little occasionally. :p

  • ooh, I've only been comping properly since may 13 and have put all of my correct details. I am worried now with id theft on the comps that I have entered ? so with the various aliases , dob, children etc. I take it nothing is ever checked on the reality of these? which comps do you use your actual details on then... are there any regular ones that you would be honest with? I do read the comments under a posting to check out any 'beware' comments etc if it possibly looks iffy . when you say you do a typo on your dob is that a couple of years either side or decades or does it depend on who you are purporting to be? thanks everyone :)
