  • Thrifty - WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!! Lovely news :D

All fairly quiet here today - sfd, daughters school performance tonight - DH and DS are watching this one - I'm on tomorrow nights :) Got some friends coming over this evening. Worked like a nutter last night - the numbers started to drop into place and I finished a chunk at 1.30 am. Tired now but happier!

For what its worth decision making with cash after the debt free date is not as simple as I thought it would be. Pre DFD it was I cant afford it so I dont have - simple. Now its a question of 1) save so we never have another DFD, 2) spend on essentials but they still have to be prioritized and then 3)the nagging oh go on you can have that now.

How much is enough saved? Also you never have enough to deal with all of 2) and if you mind wanders 3) can wipe out 1) and 2) options and leave you heading for another dfd. Dont get me wrong its nice having the choice after so many years but changing the mindset is taking time.

Anyway wittering over. Hope you all have fun in the sun - Love LAGL xx:cool2:

Well now - what a fantastic start to my day hearing such great news! Now then - wonder if Thrifty is up for an MSE "names in a hat" stylee game for a name?? :rotfl:

I had two text messages waiting for me when I got to work - better than nowt I suppose.... didn't miss my phone at all. It was almost a blessing. Might "accidentally" do it again sometime! Or just switch the stupid thing off...

So my bike pick-up price was actually £20 which includes FREE delivery! Whoop!!!!

This saves my bacon to be honest.. I am away to a different church on Saturday (my friend and her husband want to introduce me to a boy of the Christian variety and since they are few and far between how am I to refuse..:p:p:p)... but this means a trek to Reading for the day, a packed lunch, cupcakes to be made to share but I have a night overtime shift on Saturday night (2300-0700)....

I usually sleep for at least 6 hours prior to this, however I can't this week. SO.... I need to make the cupcakes on Friday and go to bed at around 1800 OR hav an epic nap like I did last week and get up for two hours again and make the cupcakes. I don't think they will last long in this heat either so I need a cool box..

The LLL was only free Friday to assist in driving me to the mechanic so not that that is ruled out I can shuffle things about and have more time to plan....

And the bike cost me £427!!!! £12 added cause I HAD to used my CC.:mad::mad: I have to clear this next month as it will play on my conscience leaving it on my CC... that means only an extra £380 on the loan.... so annoyed!!!!

Anyway these things can't be helped I guess. I have new tyres, a clean chain, a new light bulb and new brakes. At least I can be safe now. My mother can breath a sigh of relief ( and yes she is reading/lurking)....

So come Sunday I shall be baking my lady bits in the garden if this weather persists... and it had better...

    Onwards and Upwards!!!

Thanks NSK and all the other well wishers. It's still quite early - hence the quiet announcement in light yellow (but after trying for almost a year I needed to tell someone ;) so no name games just yet, please. If it's a girl I've got one in my head already anyway :p. For now frugalmite will do, someone invented that on another frugal living thread and I like it. At least it shouldn't be too expensive having another one (well till nursery) as we kept everything and no matter what flavour it is it will wear DS old clothes (and even most of his stuff was/is 2nd hand) :). This year it wont cost me anything yet anyway . I think kids are cheap and easily pleased, dressed etc till they hit 3, but then............

In the spirit of trying to be as tight as a tightwhad I decided to postpone the top-up shop till Saturday. Gonna be home first today so noone will notice when I water down the milk :rotfl:

NSK ouch to that bike bill and charging you £12 to use your CC is rediculous. Good luck with the "blind date"

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Groceries: £180/£300
    Fun: £3.70/£100
    Debt paid: £0/£460
    SFD: 4/20

Ouch! We ended up spending just under £20 in Mr T's last night though £8 was on the cats and hubby snook a book in the basket at £2.75 but even so....I'm well into next week's budget now so I'm going to have to be a bit frugal with my menu planner and shopping list.

I think I'm over-estimating my fun budget and undere-stimating my food budget. I might go back to having just a weekly budget, that's worked better for me in the past.

    Congrats, Thrifty xxx

Oooohhhhhhhhhhhhh interesting!!! We don't know anything about him really. My friend is organising a get together with her friend. They will have single friends there - it's nothing official but I am in a small church with old ladies and other women. Not ideal...

We have so many friends at this Reading church so I dread to think who it is.... :rotfl:
