I sell bits here and there with a page on facebook and I've just started blogging, but my stuff is very amateur. I've learnt new techniques and in the process of giving my page a bit of an overhaul to try and get things going, so fingers crossed x

I made this an auctioned it off on my facebook page for CLAPA (cleft lip and palate association). My youngest, now 7 months, was born with a cleft lip and palate so I try to do what I can to support the charity :o)

I make and give away. With the embroidery, you don't get back what is put in. It's the same as the quilts. No-one wants to pay £300.00 for large quilt.

I admire the ladies who can earn money from something they enjoy doing.

i know what you mean battleaxe, i make mostly as gifts with cross stitch you could never hope to get paid for the time it takes. lots of my knitted bits go to charities that will use them rather than as fundraising pieces. i do make bits for a craft stall at christmas were all money goes to school funds but no one wants to pay much.

    love those picture frames tina
pateroo lovely cute door hanger, well done on fund raising with it.

It is tough isn't it Battleaxe. I started my business hoping that one day I could give my day job up and just run my craft business. At first I didn't think I would ever be able to make enough money due to the time it takes to make items but i decided that if i was serious about making it a real business i had to look at other ways of making it viable. I ended up adding a supply side (selling ribbons, buttons, haberdashery items etc) to my website so now i have an element that isn't time consuming but brings in the money to supplement the business and it means i can continue to sell my handcrafted items as well.

I have to say it does feel a bit like a dream though. Ive just completed my first year of trading and i have to pinch myself when i look at how far i have come and how much the business has grown i never would have dreamt it :D Not withstanding that my hourly rate now is considerably less than my day job rate but sooooooo much more satisfying :rotfl:
