Hello. I recently finished a rag rug, my second.

It looks lovely beside my bed. I used some of my own teeshirts, and spent £6 at car boot sales and charity shops to get some bright colours. The backing was free, I found it about ten years ago, it's very strong netting, it will never disintegrate. I used a crochet hook rather than one of those peg tools.

Hello. I made a mat for a cat to lie on. Someone gave me a lot of fleece offcuts, left over from making cuddly toys. I pieced them together and hand stitched them onto a piece of old sheet. Then I added two layers of pink cotton curtain lining on the back, and cut the binding from an old pair of jimjam bottoms. I prefer to use recycled materials for my crafting. This cost me nothing.

Hello. I made this bag from pieces of fabric from a Scrapstore. I made the two sides separately and stitched them together. It is fully lined. I haven't put a fastening on it as I feel it doesn't need one. As long as it isn't filled to the top it will be fine.

    It cost me nothing.

Ilona your makes are seriously gorgeous, i love them all. id love to have a go at a rag rug one day is it difficult?

spent friday and saturday making a raised bed/box frame for the bottom of the garden. bought some old scaffold planks garden looks much better now. at the mo its just planted up with things that were in some broken pots that needed binning so its a bit sparse but hopefully with a few more plants and once the seeds grow we threw in it will look good.

DH also took me to a new wool shop and told me to buy myself something, i got a couple of balls of that loopy holey type yarn that you knit or crochet through holes along the edge. on saturday evening i made a furry edged crocheted scarf for DD2s birthday and a lacy cotton scarf in shades of red that im very tempted to keep myself.

hoping to tidy up and get a dress cut out this morning but ive got a funeral to go to this afternoon so im just faffing to keep myself busy really.

hugs and good wishes to all

Hello Mrs MP. The rug wasn't difficult to make, it just takes a long time. For the backing I used a piece of mesh with big holes in it, so I could use a crochet hook to pull the pieces through. If you use hessian or sackcloth you will need to use a hook with a barb on. Some people design and draw the pattern on the backing first, but then you've got to find enough of the right colours to complete it. I just made random clumps of colours of any shape and size. It gets quite heavy as it grows in size. Easiest to work on it on a table rather than on your knee.
    Have a go.

Really sorry, but the img thumb links keep coming up broken when i try and post them.
Here is my blanket eventually finished. I done the pale pink for the border, then made a baby hat ( not pictured) in the purple with the aim to make booties or mittens to match, dont have a lot of the purple left and this wool was bought 2 + years ago.

I then made this absolutely adorable little baby crown for those 'arty' pictures everyone does nowadays

Found this page and have enjoyed looking at what everyone has made. It has given me some more inspiration! My makes are all on my blog as I don't have a photo account that you can copy onto here with. Just finishing a simple skirt for my daughter today :)
