looking dorward to seeing them Thrifty.

i had a play with a free site that lets you convert text into stitching and did this today , im going to make it into a hanging for 'my' teacher at school and her class. i had to go over the last line in darker thread as i tried it in a lighter green and gold and you could hardly see it. im happier with it like this as i didnt want the most prominent line to be No one can help you, not really what you want in a class room i dont think!

  • That made me laugh Mrs Moneypenny because when my now grown up boys wanted 'help' with ie they wanted me to do their homework I always used to say 'I could do it for you but in an exam there will be no one to 'help' you, better get used to it now'.

  • Could I ask what site you used Mrs Money-penny?

Embroidery and cross-stitch are on my to-do list :D
  • Thank you, I thought that as well and did toy with changing them to red ones, i know in the story she gets the red shoes from the witch who her house falls on cant remember what shoes she had at the beginning or other parts of the film/book. it does say on the kit packaging that the images are based on the characters in the original book by L. Frank. Baum so im assuming there is a reason for them being green and not red.
did i miss the photo of your completed stocking?
I did some googling, apparently the original shoes were silver but reflected all the colours of the rainbow.

I didn't take a picture of the stocking but did a video instead to show the detailing

  • Made a card yesterday and looked this morning and I put the insert in with the verse on the left and the plain bit on the right!! Luckily it was an 8 x 8 so the verse is the right way round just on the wrong side!!

was talking to someone about it at the weekend as they commented on the green shoes and they said the same, apparently they were 'red' in the film as that colour would show up brightly in the days the film was made and the given technology.

love your stocking, ive just looked at the video.

this morning i made this for my DD1 whose getting a new puppy and she needed a bed.
