Can I just say a big thank you to all you lovely people. I have started cooking properly again for the first time in years!
After my ex left, and the kids (teens) decided that they would go live with dad for reasons that only a teen could understand lol errrrr
Mum - small rented house, 1 hour away from college, nothing to do
Dad - same town as college, cinema, bowling, pubs, clubs
Well maybe I can understand that too! lol
Living on my own, I just went to supermarket after work and got reduced ready meals - was on tight budget too.
Then met my lovely OH. (4 years now) He wanted to spoil me, pub meals and takeaways, then I moved in with him and as he is away all week he wanted to keep spoiling me. Well it wasnt doing our bank balance or waistlines any good.
Have been a lurker on these boards for a while, don't often post, but you have all inspired me. I am now cooking meals every weekend. I also cook up a big batch of chilli, bolognaise, etc and freeze for me in the week.
Tonight I have made lasagne, and a separate one for my nearly stepdaughter who is coming later - she doesnt like mushrooms.
It sounds daft when I say I am really pleased with myself. I think I had a few years blip......after cooking 4 different meals at different times I guess I thought I deserved a break lol but I am really enjoying cooking again. OH likes it too, although he has been married twice before he has never had 'home cooking' I made toad in the hole and he said it was first time he had had that since leaving school/mum. awwwwwww bless
Anyway, sorry for such a long post.......probably be 6 months before I post again lol

    Evening everyone,

Welcome Dazi, (((hugs Shez)) I am sure something better will come along

Been busy at w**k the last few days so not much OS done. Came home from work late yesterday and OH had cleaned house from top to bottom :j , so have been really nice to him all day today :D Must admit it was in dire need of a good clean.

Have been looking for a bread machine not sure which one to go with yet, will probably leave it until after our holiday and choose one then.

Managed to plant out some tomato plants and pepper plants in the garden this morning before work, but not much else OS as it's all been done for me :T

Going to try and make some cookies and flapjacks tonight.

    have a good evening everyone

    Hi everyone,

V V V V busy day at work today. Didn't get my desk cleared but made a significant dent in it.

Just listening to Springwatch in the background. Simon King was talking about the Hebrides being "hoaching" with animals. Bill Oddie had no idea what he was talking about and said he hoped the "hooching" would be over soon! :rotfl: All you Scots will know what Simon is talking about. Everyone will know what a "hoochie" is and we don't want them anywhere near us. :rotfl: (Hoaching means over-running - by way of explanation).

Shez it was meant to be. You are meant to go in another direction. You weren't going there so fate, karma, kismet, whatever-you-choose-to-call-it, dictated otherwise. I suspect that your name is firmly lodged in the "Dubai-boss"'s head and you will be summoned at some point in the future. Use this opportunity to do what really floats your boat. (Genealogy as a full-time job, perhaps??)

Dazi hi and welcome. don't you just love eating a meal that you have cooked from scratch. BTW, I believe that every child leaves their mother for a period of time. They all realise just how important their mother is at some point and will return to you demanding hugs, kisses, spoiling, protecting and expecting you to sort every single problem that they face.

kyle and frugal I have seen Granny's Heilan' Hame advertised. Is this somewhere different? It sounds the same but without the kiddies playgrounds, etc. I am thinking of taking DS and DD to the Highlands and Islands to give them a taste of their Scottish heritage. Should I drive rather than take the train or bus??? Was thinking of Skye and the likes but we don't do hill-walking or bikes. Of course I may just say "stuff it" and blow a fortune on taking us to Florence or Rome. :D

catznine so sorry to hear of your friend's troubles. No wonder she is bitter. You are such a good friend to help her through this very difficult time. ((hugs))

    Good evening everyone,

Shez ((HUGS)) i hope you have told the 'big boss' whats going on, i know you wernt happy so hopefully this will be a blessing in disguise. And please post if you are down - their are so many lovely people on this thread who have given help and support to most of us (you included!) you deserve to get it back.

Well, went to Tesco and ended up spending £95  , mind you, was £111 but i had lots of vouchers, the lady on the till did call an assistant over to query all the vouchers i had, but she said it was no prob as i was spending so much  . Also we had a treat lunch of a KFC, so def spent too much money today.

Had a phone call from friend in Ozs husband this morning, to say his daughter was on the train, and would be here at 2.48 - luckily that wasnt a problem, but not much notice. Ive dropped her off at her house, so she can unpack and get changed etc, and then she is going out to her friends, so will be back here later. DSs friend who was meant to be staying over changed his mind so we are having a quiet night in, just the 3 of us, with crisps and football (and a glass of wine for me:T ). DS has been invited to his friends house to stay tomorrow, but hasnt desided yet if he will - if not he will come with DD and i to visit a friend we havnt seen for a while, which im looking forward to.

Right, going to try my luck on the comp board - no new wins yet, but i keep hoping!!

    Have a lovely evening,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

forgot to say - Welcome to Dazi xxx

    ((((Shez))))

Feel more human for the first time in nearly a week and still have a cough that should be in a horror film but managed a trip to Lidl to get stocked up.

Ran out of bread this morning and decided to use breadmaker- looked for the clearly labelled folder that I kep in the kitchen with the instruction and recipes in it - gone. DH has been painting the kitchen - bit by bit - one coat of white paint on top of the bright blue - no cutting in and no tidying up either!!!!! Somehow he has managed to throw out all my special recipes etc!

Finally managed to get Morphy Richards to send me a new booklet as my computer would not download it.

Why oh why when he is "tidying up" is it only my stuff he throws out?
I would never dream of doing anything like that to him!

I know he does not do it on purpose - he just cannot be bothered to ask anyone- or to tell people where he puts stuff!

Have told him that if he ever does anything like that again I am going to order a brand new breadmaker! (Not as bad as it sounds as mine is three years old now and there is a good offer on!)

Have appointment to look at a house tomorrow morning - almost hope we hate it as I dread the hassle of moving after 18 years and know DH will be as much actual help as a third foot that you keep tripping over!!! Also know the mug that will end up making herself stressed and ill over the blasted painting of the kitchen will end up being me. Have visions of me painting frantically while he is out and then the results being criticized once he gets home. Also his "hurt look" if there is no meal ready or other stuff done.

If that particular scenario develops then I may have to find a novel and painful resting place for the paintbrush - stuffed in his gob for starters!

Going to put dishes in the dishwasher and then watch telly with a hot drink.

Ta muchly, kyle, had a look. Looks like a lovely park. Still considering whether I should drive that far north as I'm not the most confident motorway driver and its a verrrrrrrry long way from where I am.

How's your mouth? Hope it's much better. xx

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Ever the lady, elona!! That wasn't the place I was expecting:o

((((((((shez))))))) I'm sure you'll get something more suited to your talents, but it'd better be at the wharf, or how else will I wave to you?:D You feel free to bend our ears, that's what we're here for. You do enough listening and comfort giving, now it's payback.:A

Well had a smashing day, DGS1 was here, he's on half-term from nursery class. The weather was lovely in the end, and DGS tired Grandad out in the garden:rotfl: :rotfl: I do miss our Fridays now he's at *school*.

catznine, you're doing everything you can for your friend. The fact she can weep and be bitter and know that you'll still love and support her says it all. (((((hugs)))) to you both.

Must go now, I've got washingup calling, (and no dishwasher icon9.gif) We didn't eat until about 8.30, so it's not that I've been too lazy:rotfl:

    Bye for now, CMxx
