I bought 3 bottles of wine for £10 in a small shop and they charged 50p to use the card - 1st charge for myself.......................ever!!
Le Creuset shop at Royal Quays was a good spend - 3 x espresso cups reduced to exactly £10, so £5. In a nice presentation box and a nice pressie for someone.....................and cheap. lol

I'll be visiting 2 x local butchers tomorrow (Gosforth) and spending as near as possible £10 (min) in each.
Possible lunch out today and meal out tomorrow.
That will leave just 2 more. I'll have to sort out that 2nd card for next time.

RE contacting American Express by email, you need to log into your Amex account, go to 'Contact Us' (top right of page) and then click on link 'Email American Express' (top right)

    http://www.americanexpress.co.uk/messagecentre

It's a secure link, hence you need to be logged in, you have an inbox, sent box etc.

I emailed them about three outlets that claimed to be part of it but wouldn't take it - got £30 refunded. Better than the actual £5 discount...

It says when I tried to register, "We are unable to register your card.". My card is from MBNA.

I've had a missing £5 cashback claim that I need to chase, too, I think you need to phone MBNA CS direct

Let me know how you get on at the Gosforth butchers as I tried the corner house pub and they would not accept AMEX

First time I've used this and loving it.

Used it for a carvery for 2 yesterday (Crown Carveries) and 2 x carveries, 2 x soft drinks, 1 x unlimited ice-cream came to £10.75 (used the 15% off voucher) and will be £5.75 once I get that £5 back.

Popped into Premier Meats and got 3 packs for £10 (steak, chicken fillets and cod), so £5 for that when I get the £5 back.

Just downloaded a few £5 coupons for the Spirit Group and will pop into a few of their pubs for a meal before it ends. Approx £15 spent there will come to £5'ish.

Loving it, loving it, loving it.
Crazy for missing it last time though!!
I'll look for the next one if it returns.

Fantastic for those with the Oyster Card.

Have I missed something? Crown carveries and Fayre and Square/Ember Inns not coming up in this area?
Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

No problems at the butchers (precinct on high street). Eggs, steak mince and mince pies. Spent £10.11 - so £5.11 with £5 back.
    The pies were really excellent.
    George Payne, we never bothered.
Thanks for the Corner House tip, strange as we've been there before an used AMEX. The Gunner and Beacon (Embers Inn) are also on the list.

Might be area specific, but the one in Seaton Sluice (Astley Arms) was showing for myself.

Still 4 left and we'll use a couple, if not all at the weekend.
Hoping for another small shop doing 3 bottles of wine for £10.

    Happy hunting.

    Hello All,

I spoke to MBNA customer services today after my Amex card was refused by staff and I had to pay on another credit card. It then transpired the cheeky !!!!!!s charged my Amex MBNA card and my other credit card. Lady on the phone told me shop keepers are doing this a lot in the hope people don't notice... So just be careful!

This was a fab offer, I made good use of it last year and this year. I dined at a few restaurants I had already booked before knowing about this offer and visited a few chemists to stock up on sundries. Hope this is repeated next year!

I've updated my list ^ and bolded the retailers I've been to which don't accept Amex. I've been into a total of three shops and all of them have declined to accept Amex and wouldn't try putting the payment through.

    I hope this helps someone.

Went to some of the shops that you mentioned. Here is my experience.

    4. M.A.N News 69 Plashet Road, London, E13 0QA - wanted to charge me £1.95 per top up
    9. Amy Green Gate Store 12-16 Green Gate Street, Plaistow, E13 0AS - tried their machine and it wouldn't accept amex
Kelway News Ltd Building 1000, Royal Business Park, West Wing, Dockside Road, London E16 2QU - in a council offices building opposite of the city airport - shuts at 5.30ish

Any other places that do oyster Top ups in central/north London that people have had success with
