Like xshootingstarsx, I thought I'd share outlets that will top up your Oyster card with Amex:-
Compton News, 48 Old Compton Street, London, W1D 4UA
Jasmine News, 93 Cowcross Street, London, EC1M 6BH
Bottle & Basket, 187 Waterloo Road, Waterloo Road, London, SE1 8UX
Crighton News, 8 Russell Place, London, SE16 7PL
Bow Supermarket, 163-169 Devons Road, London, E3 3QX
they all charged 50p extra (even Bottle and Basket, where No Future wasn't charged extra - must be better looking and more charming than I am!), and the last one (Bow Supermarket) a full £1 extra
I have emailed Amex every time a store has refused the card or added charges, and they have compensated me for it...I wonder if it's getting this sort of information that is valuable enough for Amex to run these promotions?
I was also given a link to a (rather detailed) form where one can inform Amex of such issues:-

I got three Amex cards which have been registered for this deal. Do you think if I use all three cards in separate transactions of ten pounds for a Oyster card top up, Amex will credit my account?0

Does anyone know of any other news agents that do Oyster top up in or around SE London?0

Even with a 50p charge, I reckon £10 of Oyster credit for £5.50 is a pretty good use of shop small, given that it can't be obtained cheaper elsewhere (unlike most of the stuff sold by small groceries/pharmacies etc).
I'm impressed that you've managed to get Amex to refund the 50p charges though!0 -

I reckon you could top up £10 on each of your 3 cards at a particular shop, and repeat this on 10 occasions at different shops!
Try this with one shop, and "check" by seeing if you get confirmation emails from Amex for all three ( which you get within minutes)0 -
Just to update everyone today I today I visit two different newsagents in SE London area. Using my three Amex cards, I topped up a total of £60 worth of Oyster top up for £30!
I received three instant emails on my phone for both the 2 shops within seconds. :T
In case anyone is wondering I visited Pearl News in Camberwell Green who charges extra 30p for processing and Arin Wines on Old Kent Rd who charges extra 50p for processing.
As I only travel by London transport one day a week these top up will last me approx 10 weeks.
Towards the end of the month I will probably go to basket and bottles on Waterloo road for some more :rotfl:
(I then went to Tesco down the road and treated myself to £10 pounds of food/snacks, not bad saving for one day)0
