Big zippy I'm scared of cot bumpers too everything I read says don't buy them because of SIDS risk so I found these from john Lewis which I might get - it's white so would match with lots.

    http://m.johnlewis.com/mt/www.johnlewis.com/airwrap-mesh-cot-system-4-sided/p231391274?un_jtt_v_pdp=yes&un_jtt_v_from_product=un_product_16

There is a set we like in mothercare but as you say they won't sleep in there for ages anyway so can always buy a set at a later date if needs be. I'm going to see if the set we like has money off in January but will buy the pieces separately as the bedding set includes cot bumpers.

We haven't bought a cot bumper but we've got these instead as they wrap around the bars of the cot but leave space in between. Still not totally sold on them but I'll see how wriggly baby is in his sleep and if he has a habit of getting up against the sides I'll remove them if I feel uneasy. Planning on buying something to go on the mattress to stop him rolling over so that'll stop him getting close to the sides anyway. :)

fran - it's even possible for you to deliver the baby by yourself, or for your partner to receive the baby instead of the midwife. I still find that one fascinating and it's in our birth plan.

Hurray! Car seat is arriving on Monday :D We've paid an extra £35 for the isofix base from the looks of things, and it won't arrive until January but at least the car seat is going to turn up hurray!

  • Ooops! You can tell I wrote my earlier post this morning before properly waking up! Now edited to correctly say "you have to STOP going out for hour long 1mile + walks on your lunch" !!

I've been a big walker for ages and have to get out of the office for a stretch at least once a day but have been getting frustrated at people trying to wrap me in cotton wool and stop me walking/picking up some shopping/stretching too much! But I think the day has come when I need to admit that maybe a one hour brisk walk 2/3 times a week is as good as 5 times a week at the moment!

Thank you for adding me to the list squ1rrel5 :)

I have ended up in my jeans with my Christmas jumper (a long one from Primark) as I couldn't be bothered with trying to make anything else 'go'. I have 2 maternity dresses but one is for Christmas and the other needs a wash and I've been wearing it for work anyway! the rest of what I wear are just my clothes from before I got pregnant mixed with some of my 'before I lost all the weight' clothes which I never got rid of! Oh I have 2 maternity t-shirts too which bf got me :)
Goals after baby arrives are: get back in to my size 8 straight leg jeans from Next (big size 8s in my opinion but whole other discussion there!), get back to pre baby weight and that's it haha

Ahhh that makes so much more sense Lush, I was getting annoyed at these men telling you to do more exercise! You might even find in a few weeks that there's no option of even doing a 'brisk' walk... it could be more of a waddle! :p

I haven't really thought about my post baby goals... I'd put on more weight than I was comfortable with before I got PG so I really need to aim for losing the baby weight and more but I'm not putting any pressure on myself to lose it all straight away. It takes 9 months to put it on (plus the year before that of gradually getting bigger!) so I need to expect it to take as long to lose. At least it'll be spring so we can go for lots of walks with the baby that should help me get back into shape... and we'll be too poor to eat much so that will help too! :rotfl:

    Post-baby weight-loss?!
I did weight watchers to go from 18 to 14 for our wedding in early 2011, and was a large-ish 16 by the time this pregnancy started. I had slowly put on about a stone over 18 months or so to be a 16, then after a miscarriage and miserable recovery put on another half or so too quickly. So would like to get back to a decent sixteen at least so my clothes fit ok!
Plan is to do lots of buggy walking (I don't drive so this is inevitable) and if I have time to swim then make that a regular thing. But don't want to put too much pressure on myself and totally accept that I won't be packing away the maternity clothes immediately!

Have just put some perineal oil on my wrist to check for allergy, then will get this into my post-shower routine starting soon! Also plan to start on raspberry leaf tea capsules after Christmas.

Ah that makes more sense Lush!

So pleased, the maternity coat Ive been watching on Asos is finally reduced, knew they couldnt keep selling winter coats at full price much longer, from £80 to £56, so used a voucher I had, got 3% back off quidco so paid under £5!

Fran-o thats an excellent point about birth plans and nct classes.

Kerri - Im living in jumpers and leggings too. And jumper dresses. I bought maternity jeans though as although I could still fit in my normal jeans, I cant stand anything tight around my bump and although they are low rise so would go underneath it, the big flexible band on the under bump maternity jeans I got are just so much comfier! Same with the maternity leggings I have.

Ive bought a couple of maternity tops and jumpers, can still fit in my normal clothes at the moment but some tops are starting to get a bit short, so I have to wear a vest top underneath which is ok but I dont always want to do that so hence why I bought a couple of bits.

I havent really thought much about weight after the baby. I lost a bit of weight after my miscarriage, managed to put some back on, and then got pregnant at a weight Ive been for years so I guess it will just depend on how much weight I put on in total, and where it goes. Like if its just mainly on my bump I expect most of that will come off anyway.

Im not so concerned about weight as such, more about stretch marks and loose skin! I dont think Im going to be one of those people you see bounding about on the beach with a flat flawless stomach afterwards as I am very prone to stretch marks. I have a draw full of around 30 bikinis, I just hope I will be able to still wear them! :)
  • I ended up cancelling my gym membership when I got to around 10wks as I couldn't go much in the gym; no lifting/leg weights, couldn't jog or use the cross trainers any more without a major stitch/discomfort and the pool was always far too busy to get any actual swimming done.

Don't think I will re-join once baby is here but I will do lots of walking- I don't drive and our local market/town centre bit is only 15mins walk away/0.5mile. I used to walk in and back everyday when I was nannying and there is a nice little park close by which has a path round the outside then a playing field and small play park which I used to walk to (think a walk there, 3laps and walk back s about 3miles although I may be imagining that!)

Lost almost 5st and was roughly maintaining (did SW) before getting pregnant and so far think my weight gain measures at 23lbs (so 1st 9lb). I don't think it's too bad - I was really stressed about gaining anything major at first but I'm comfortable with it now and know what helps me lose weight when I want to :)

Baby must be comfortable today as I just get the odd 'bubble'/very small movement

Gosh my stomach will never be the same again I guess but a happy healthy baby will be worth it, there's a price to pay for everything...

Hubby kind of forcefed me last night, I ate dinner until I was full and then he insisted I ate more for the baby, I was too full all night after that, not doing that again!

Bump was sore last night, maybe because of the scan. Plus I was worried cos I'd left my maternity notes at work and I thought it would be typical if I had to go to hospital while my notes were so far away, so not a great night's rest again!

Got a letter about workshops I've been booked on: Birth, Caring for Baby and Breastfeeding, on 14th, 21st and 28th Jan, will hardly be at work it seems with all the scans and consultant and midwife appointments, luckily my job isn't very demanding.

Sorry for your fall mrsbunny, glad you're ok. I was caught in rain and wind last night waiting for the bus, my umbrella blew inside out, then the metal twisted and broke then I tried to stuff it in a bin but was too windy so released it over a fence into the park as I was worried about it blowing in front of the cars. Where did all that crazy weather come from! I was soaked through and coat was still wet this morning.

Day and a half of work left then off for 2 weeks, bliss :)

    32 weeks today
