  • There you go Lush, I've added you on now - and I've moved misscoupon to the birth list! Yay!

You sound very much like me with the dress down day - we have one every Friday but over the last couple of months I've just been dressing as I normally do in the week. I can't fit into any normal jeans anymore - obviously, but I havent bought any maternity ones yet. Im struggling to justify the cost of them!!! I live in leggings and dresses (getting a bit bored of them now to be honest) so dress down day is really just dress the same day. Mission for April 2014 is to fit into skinny jeans again!!

I'm all out on front so I'm living in leggings, vest tops and big jumpers, lush. I've not had to buy any maternity clothes as I'm a tiny build which is really jammy. Saying that, my sister also only carries on front and she was in size 0 jeans up until she gave birth!!! What a cow! I'm definitely not that small.

I've had an entire 2hrs sleep! I got so frustrated that our car seat hasn't turned up yet that I just couldn't sleep. Now having seen the paperwork it looks like OH gave them his old number, so they could have been trying to contact us for ages....I shall call them when they open at 10am and find out what on earth is going on. If they're still not ready to send it then I'm cancelling, asking for a refund and going to m0thercare to get the blasted thing :D especially as it's now £35 cheaper than what we've paid for it!!! Our reusable nappies are on their last pre-wash :D they're now super absorbent hurrah.

Rummer, our car seat is in the car now. I'm 'full term' today though :j

I'm wondering how Amy is too...?

Con, do you have sheets for your cot and moses basket? Blankets? A neutral snowsuit to bring baby home? A few nappies and cotton wool to start off with?

As for bottles, I will want a few for expressing but haven't bought any yet. I've heard about issues with not getting on with them etc and also babies getting lazy about breastfeeding if they get it too easily from certain bottles. I'm waiting til baby is here/the January baby events to think some more about it. I'm thinking of just using cold water steriliser solution to begin with as I'm hoping breastfeeding will work and bottle use/sterilising will be fairly rare at first.

I felt movement at 14+5 and DH felt it the first time a week later but then not again really for a couple of weeks. My BMI when I got pregnant was 30, for comparison, but my placenta is at the back.

    Welcome over Faith

Kerri, I've got 6 muslins atm but I'm waiting to see what I get given at Christmas/birth before stocking up on any more. I'm confident I'll use them a lot, as I do when I'm babysitting, but I know (for eg) my sister was talking about having stocked up on baby things for us, so at the moment I'm waiting it out. If I see great deals in baby sales events I might pick some more up, but I have enough towels and flannels if not. I think it depends what you want to use them for too. Parents seem to have either a million and one uses for them, or don't really touch them. I've known them be used as breastfeeding privacy covers/shawls, sleeping snuggle blankets, bibs/dribble cloths/burp & sick cloths, wash cloths, change mat covers... Others I've spoke to have no use for them. :)

I don't have sheets etc yet, going to dunelm mill this weekend and will get some though :)

As for neutral snowsuit , I do have one but would like pink or blue to bring baby home in, there's a matalan a stones throw from the hospital so will get someone to see if they have any, failing that the cream one will be fine with a pink or blue hat :)

So so much still to do. Can't wait til the room is sorted after the new year as that's when I plan on shop shop shopping the most !

Glad you're OK MrsBunny, must have been a nasty scare. I hate falling over and always end up in tears if I do. I'm dreading the ice arriving as I'll be too scared to leave home! :o

Rummer, I'm glad we got our nursery done early too! People thought we were crazy for getting so organised so soon but if we'd waited until now it would have been pretty bad as I'm just too tired to go out to the shops and I've got no patience for shopping around! :p Glad I can just spend my 2 weeks holiday before my ML starts just relaxing and doing some cooking for the freezer rather than stressing about getting everything ready for baby! :)

Kerri, I've got loads of muslins, about 20? Just kept buying packs of pretty coloured ones until OH said that we must have enough by now! :o From what I understand, some babies get through loads, some don't even need them so I suppose I'll just see how we get on. :) Got one pack from Sainsbugs when they had 25% off clothing since they're classed as babywear. :)

What is self sterilising?! :o We're got Tommy Tippee bottles (mainly because OH is a pest and gets obsessed over having everything matching so all of our bottle related stuff is TT :p) but we'll just see how we get on. No point in buying loads of different brands to start off with because baby might get on with TT straight away, but then the same could be said of having any brand! If only babies were more predictable! :p

I'm planning on putting the car seat in (or at least putting the base in and leaving the seat in the boot, where it's been for about 3 months already!) in a couple of weeks. Just so we're prepared. :) Could have used it the other day actually as I was trying to get parked in a packed car park, Mum said I should have had the car seat set up so I could go in the Mother and Baby spot! ;)

You should be very proud of getting to full term without having to go onto bed rest BZ! I did worry about you but now I think you can do anything, you're Wonder Mum! :)

    Congratulations Miss Coupon! :T

Lush, I've found that dress down days in my office are more or less like every other day for me too. I've got one pair of maternity jeans and they're pink so don't exactly go with everything! :p

As for the walking, if it's uncomfortable, don't push yourself. I started off with all good intentions to walk loads during this pregnancy but have found that it's not worth the pain, especially if I was walking on a lunchtime as I'd have to spend the afternoon in the office feeling worn out, with my pelvis and bum aching and no chance of relief. :o My OH gave me some flak about it at first but understands now that I'm not going to cause myself extra pain for the sake of squeezing a little extra exercise in. I'm hoping that the support band the physio gave me yesterday makes it a little easier though. :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Hope you feel less shaken up after a relaxing evening, MrsBunny. Must've been quite a scare!

Birdie I went into town on Tuesday night, it was surprisingly busy. Our local shopping centre does £1.80 parking after 6pm which seems to be working to get people in! I think it's acceptable to use parent and child spaces if you're preggers - you do need more space to get out of the car after all! I didn't brave many shops though, I had some freebie cinema tickets to go and see The Railway Man (new Colin Firth film). It was a little more highbrow than my usual chick flicks but it was very good. Not sure about Col with a moustache though - he actually looked my dad's age rather than just *being* my dad's age :rotfl:

ETA: He's actually older than my dad!

Loving looking at all the nurseries you guys have picked, we have Elfie & Mop from Mamas and Papas - we were very practical when having DD and went for neutral (knew we wanted more kids in the near future); as it turns out we could've gone for pink! Although it's a lovely sunshine yellow which is nice and cheery.

BZ :j:T for full term, you're doing amazingly! Hope you get to take it easy over Christmas. How much time is your OH having off over Christmas?

Claire - how many do you have though? I have 10 in total, but not sure if I need more than that or not. I've been given a couple of burp cloth things from various people so I have those in addition to the teatowels. I've thrown 4 teatowels in the baby's hospital bag lol, they've been through the washing machine several times so they're absorbent.

Rummer - ooh they look lovely, I might pick some up. We've got her 2 washcloths from Chr1sty to match her little towel set as they're super soft and what we use on ourselves, bought at the outlet village though ;) We've got a car seat in the car already, it's one of our NCT groups spare as ours hasn't turned up. Must call about that tomorrow actually.

Was just thinking, we've not heard from Amyloofoo for awhile, dare we hope?

I think I have 6. Once I've bought some white ones I don't think I'll buy anymore, incase we get an has presents and can always order more.
Could I be cheeky and ask you to add me too? Due date is 28th March and we're team pink :-)

I had a very uncomfortable afternoon/evening yesterday which was frustrating. Now my manager is joining OH in the 'you have to start going out for hour long 1mile + walks on your lunch' and I have to admit I think they may be right. I was fine walking from the office in to town but walking back was very uncomfortable :-(

Bump feels much neater, was talking with colleagues yesterday and we all agreed I'd done alright to carry all at the front as I've kept my waist/definition which is nice. She definitely has quite days and rave days which can be disconcerting sometimes as I won't feel anything for a while then all of a sudden its like she is reminding me she's there!

Been told we can wear jeans/go in to work in casual dress as we are going for drinks afterwards. Only problem is I don't really like my maternity jeans at the moment (bootleg not my usual straight leg, baggy, generally frustrating fit) and I don't have anything else that 'casual' so I might end up going in looking like its just another day :-\

DH is ready to start showing me exercises I could be doing but think I'm going to wait until after Xmas. If you don't want to go for a long walk then don't! It might be better doing small exercises that don't wear yourself out.

I was all ready to do them after the 20 week scan but then because of the bleeding I had I just wanted to curl up and not move.

I do a small walk each day but I couldn't do a mile. I need to start some exercises though as if I crouch down I can't get up without pulling on something it's ridiculous, I think I lost a lot of strength in the summer where I was basically lying down and being ill for 2 months.

DH is a PT and has done a pre & post natel course so the exercise ball is sitting staring at me in the kitchen everytime I go in there & he's also had a female colleague offer her services for free to me and she was going on about pelvic floor & tearing to me the other day, before launching into her birth story!

Think I'm going to wait til I've stuffed myself with mince pies and get Xmas over first! And I might feel more confident about the bleeding not returning then if I don't have anymore between now & then.

Congratulations on being Full Term BigZ, it's awesome that you've not had to go off sick. I think if I had a more active job I'd not have coped as I was sooo tired whilst my meds were out of whack.
    Thanks.:)
I live "off sick" though, as I'm not capable of working anymore (pregnant or not) due to my conditions :)

Being able to catch up on sleep through the morning/day is great though - don't know how working preggos do it if their sleep is even slightly as interrupted and sporadic as mine!

Probably won't get to post for a while but lurking through all your posts has been invaluable during this pregnancy. Good luck to all
    Congratulations! :D

    I wondered that too...?

Aww thanks :o I definitely wouldn't go that far though! :p

DH's alarms woke me up nearly 2 hours ago  need more sleep!

Also really in need of some name inspiration. We have more girl names than boy names, and considering we've thought for the past 6 months that it's a boy, that's not really helpful! :p Really think it's gonna end up being called Baby Boy/Girl Zippy for the first 6 weeks of it's life, until we're forced to go with something on the last day for registering the birth! :p

We've not got a theme in the nursery, partly because it's a rented house, partly because I want neutral too, and partly because I've not fallen in love with anything. I'm not sold on the safety/not of cot bumpers and they can't use quilts or pillows for the first year, so I didn't see the point in getting one of those sets, which doesn't leave much in the meantime . I've just gone with the white bottom sheets I've been given and a few white blankets for now. I got a couple of swaddle wraps on eB@y to try initially and was given a sleeping bag that I'll try out before getting any more. I'm sure once bubs is here and we know what we've been given as gifts we'll buy more interesting bedding etc, but I think we might wait til maybe next Christmas for any matching bedding, when s/he can use it more...

I can't comment on the ones that have been posted though as they don't all load on my mobile for some reason :(

DH has from half day Christmas Eve (although he's coming with me to the midwife in the morning, so not
sure how much he'll be getting done :p), to something like the 2nd, off. I'm due on the 8th, so I've asked him to arrange with his colleagues for him to work from home a little more (than usual) til MiniZee appears... We'll see how that works out at the time though I guess...

Aw well BigZ you knew what I meant :)

Congrats Misscoupon totally forgot to say it earlier sorry. What weight was she and do we get to know her name?

I'm giving up on sleep, I don't think anymore is going to happen for me today :( boo as I've only had about 2hrs grrr.

Re: tearing, I've heard that popping the EPO in internally is meant to really help to prevent against it.

I currently feel like I've been kicked in the girly bits by a horse :( It's been like this since she dropped and according to other forums it's not going to get any better until she's out :( I also have weird pains in the tops of my ankles that I can't work out how I've managed to strain those muscles, or even if it is strained but it defo feels like it. Oh I'm moany today, sorry girls.

Congratulations misscoupon, lovely news! Can't believe I'm now in the top ten though and 34 weeks!

Last day at work was yesterday, took it very easy as most of my handover was already done, in fact so easy that I had the energy to come home in the rain, cook us a nice chilli from scratch, put a wash through and deal with a supermarket delivery before bed!

Today I am going to the chiropractor mid morning then Christmas shopping, tomorrow I am treating myself to reflexology in the day and got hubby's work Xmas party in the evening. I want us to go curtain shopping on Saturday, need to convince hubby. I don't want to buy baby's bedding and nursery accessories until we've chosen the curtains, and I'm now desperate to get on with this, especially as its sale time. Most of hubby's time has been spent on sorting out the car (we bought a second hand car that immediately had issues, so today it's going back and we're buying another one, same make/model but a year newer) so some of the other big purchases and decisions have been delayed.

Just going back to the birth plan stuff... If you asked me a month ago I would have said anything goes as long as baby and I are healthy. Having done NCT ante natal I am so much more clued up: there are pros an cons of different pain reliefs, options I didn't know about eg cutting the cord immediately (and who does it) vs leaving it a few minutes so baby can get extra support. Wait until you do ante natal classes or have read up more and you will likely have some ideas. You can also chat with midwife about practices at your hospital. My midwife first mentioned birth plan at my 28 week appt, we agreed at my 34 week appt that I'd do it before my 36 week appt once ante natal classes were finished. That's end of December so hubby can come along with me.
