Hi all, hugs and sympathy to Amy, and anyone else in need of them. Also hope everyone's been ok in the stormy weather.

I promised to feedback on my NCT women's only class... It was three hours and all the ladies were there (8 plus teacher). Talked about the stuff that would be a bit embarrassing in front of the lads eg perineal massage, tearing and how to cope if it happens, pelvic floor exercises, and listened to a bit of a hypnobirthing cd.

For the biggest part of the session we spent time in groups writing down two lists - one of our hopes (for labour, birth and early days) and one of our fears/ worries. Then spent a good hour and a half or so discussing. A lot of people were getting some personal stuff off their chests but a lot of the sentiments echoed around the room, many people had same worries. One girl got tearful about her fear of being left alone in the hospital (ie when baby has arrived and visiting hours are over) and set me off. Talk about being in hospital, unexpected medical problems etc just brought back lots of difficult memories around my miscarriage so I was a bit of a tearful wreck for the rest of the session. I'm so glad they are a nice bunch of girls, I was happy to tell them why I was upset and they were understanding. Five of us went for a quick cafe lunch in town afterwards, then I did some shopping and went to my Mums for another little cry and a nice dinner. Hubby is away on business so I was glad to be seeing Mum and Dad for some moral support.

Home now and off to bed... Sleep well everyone x

    Thanks for the info Fran.

When people mentioned the women only sessions at first I was thinking why would you need that I don't mind discussing that stuff in front of my DH and want him to hear all the gory details but then since reading your report I think I sort of forgot there would be other men there who yeah I probably don't want to talk about that infront of lol! So definitely a good idea. Glad the ladies were supportive, I think I'd feel the same.

I'm just back from my consultant appointment too. Not very happy though, so if you're fed up of my constant whinging then feel free to skip ahead ;)

Despite the plan having been set weeks ago for an elective section between 38 and 39 weeks, the registrar has now decided that she's not sure I need a section and that she wants the input of the anaesthetists and a senior midwife. Apparently these referrals should have been made at my 28 week appointment and now mean that I won't have a final answer about my mode of delivery until I'm almost 39 weeks on the 19th December.

I'm just so fed up with it - I'd started out by wanting a home / water birth with as little intervention as possible and was told that this wouldn't be appropriate and my medical conditions would prevent it. I then prepared myself for a caesarean and became used to the idea, as well as allowing myself to be completely convinced that a vaginal delivery isn't an option for me and will end badly. Now, with a matter of weeks (maybe less :o) until delivery, they want to change the plan again and expect me to be fine with it.

I have bipolar disorder and lots of issues with anxiety (so I'm sure you can guess all the recent news has been really reassuring anyway ;)) and it's just not appropriate to keep changing the agreed plans and putting off making a decision for weeks. I'm convinced that I'm going to SROM before the 19th and will then end up in hospital with no birth plan and unsure of whether I should be fighting for an emergency section or just seeing what happens during a vaginal delivery.

I came out of the appointment and just sobbed (I still feel teary now), but I'm really angry too. The registrar has completely changed the advice I was given and showed she had little knowledge of my condition, so to be honest I don't really trust her. I'll be 37 weeks on Saturday, it's just not fair that they're springing all this on me now - especially if it all should have been sorted weeks ago :(
If the registrar was seeing you instead of the consultant then I would expect that to mean that it was expected to be a fairly straight forward/routine appointment rather than one involving sudden major changes. If the consultant said you need a CS then I wouldn't expect the registrar to be changing that without the consultant's involvement unless there had been some change in your situation which from what you say, I don't think there has been. I would suggest that you either speak to your MW or phone the consultant's secretary to try and get an appointment actually with the consultant ASAP to discuss the situation. It is totally unacceptable to mess someone about like that even without any conditions which make it more difficult than typical to cope with such changes and IMO they should not be doing so without good cause.

Amy- what badly said! I'm cross on your behalf too

Kerri- I've started putting things in a bag and thinking about it/ordering stuff. Does that count? :p I washed all MiniZee's bedding and newborn stuff today so will be popping some of that in a bag soon too. The admittance on Friday kind of spooked me, plus I'm getting mithered by well meaning people about getting it done. Thing is, the comfiest things I'm gonna want, I wear all the time so how can I pack them??

    Abi- congratulations! :D

I'm not very well, so lurking mostly atm :o

BigZ - I should probably start on mine then as I'm a week ahead of you. It makes it all a bit real though! Hope you feel a bit better soon x

Becca - happy birthday, hope you get to spend it relaxing and being pampered :)

Iceicebaby - wow congratulations, does he have a name?

Fran - thanks for the info :) Hope you're feeling a little cheerier today.

Rummer - I have some bits at the delivery office to pick up today, pretty sure the clear bauble is there as I had 3 package not delivered things when I got back from the hospital yesterday. Although, today I'm going to start work on a b+w baby quilt for her movement area, with a multi-coloured backing.

Claire - they estimate weights based on abdominal circumference, femur length and head circumference. Although as they're not actually in there with a tape measure, it's a rough estimate and sometimes they get it oh so wrong. I guess you can have a long torso without actually being mahoosively heavy.

TL & Birdie - you've made me chuckle with your song choices, I've played ours my birthing music or sung along to the radio, so could be a whole range of songs that soothe her eep! Although hoping it's just Ewan the sheep :)

AFM - last NCT session last night, we've got a fb group setup so we can keep in contact. Although the session left OH really worried that we don't have much in the way of a support network around us as neither of our parents are close by and we don't really know anyone here. I did try to explain to him that people raise children with much less and that it is only a small human (how hard can it be?), at least we have each other. However, he is a pessimist and I am always the optimist.
