I have refused to clean the cats litter trays though :D and leave that to the OH which he hates.

You can tell your OH that the cat litter trays is definitely a risk for pregnant women (that's my area of expertise :P). Although you may not want to mention that the risk is lower (but still present) after the 1st tri ;)

Had a glass of wine with my meal and a lady opposite was disgusted with me. She told me a couple of times that she didn't agree with me drinking at all :(
I don't know when it changed but it was "allowed" in my first pregnancy (2006/7) and I only found out it had changed because of other people mentioning it rather than because I was given any information by my MW or anything. I also remember a discussion on this thread where someone said that on another forum people had been funny about her mentioning having had a drink (it turned out this was because the advice in the US was no alcohol and it was a mainly American site) and everyone seemed to think it was totally acceptable so it seems bizarre to me that some people are so militantly against it now.

I think I'm lucky in that most of the stuff you shouldn't eat or drink in pregnancy I don't really like anyway. I hate pât!, don't eat seafood or sushi only fish & that's fine, I don't drink much and hate rare meat lol
And I don't like stinky/blue cheese lol! Makes me sound really fussy but I'm actually not, it just seems to be that all the stuff I don't like is the pregnancy 'banned' list!
Seafood is fine as is any sushi you buy in a shop or restaurant. Fish-wise, shark, marlin and swordfish aren't okay at all and tuna should be limited.

I'm not sure either but it might well be due to research about foetal alcohol syndrome which I guess could have been carried out in the US as the advice there has been no alcohol for as long as I can remember there, I've seen a lot of fights on forums about it!

Mind you, I've seen American ladies on b&b talking about having the odd drink & their OB okaying it!

I've had some very small glasses of red wine this pregnancy, maybe one a month or so, and a few spoons of baked Camembert once and a couple of cups of coffee a day from weeks 15 - 28 but now I'm worried in case the caffeine has contributed to the small size of baby.

My mum's trying to reassure me saying that I was small when born as were my siblings, and I'm a petite person so that might account for small baby, anyway I've stopped the coffee now so hopefully the growth spurt will follow and all will be well, thanks for kind words ladies!

    30 weeks today (flying by...)

I heard that baked camembert (and deep fried brie/other 'cooked' soft cheeses) are absolutely fine as the cooking process kills off the nasties.

Also the NHS choices website apparently says stilton (just not other blue cheeses) is fine to eat in pregnancy too...for anyone who is partial at christmas. Can't stand the stuff myself.

I feel this way too! It helps that I've gone off wine a bit too, I always fancy the idea of a nice cold glass of wine, but then when I have some I don't finish it! Much like a proper coffee, I will treat myself but rarely finish the cup! Light beer/lager though... I've always quite liked it but I could happily drink a couple of bottles of Sol/Corona/Kona/Mythos at any given moment! I limit myself to stealing sips from OH's bottles and sometimes pour a little into a glass to savour. :o

I have told OH that the day I get home from hospital I want to eat a massive slab of pate though! Can't bloody wait! :T
With me its going to be all the goodies that I won't be able to eat at Xmas because of the GD. You can still get mince pies Jan/Feb right?:p Maybe I will pop a few in the freezer for after baby arrives.....and chocolate - there better be some of that for Valentines day as I am sure it will be good for breastfeeding:p:rotfl:

Just been to the midwife, the lump that keeps sticking out is 'definitely a bum, a big bum' lol measuring 2 weeks ahead but she said that's probably cos of her sticking said bum out lol
if I'm measuring ridiculously ahead then she'll put me in for a growth scan

re:alcohol- apparently the problem is the only research has been done on heavy drinking throughout pregnancy, so there's no proof of what a little bit now and then does, which is why the advice differs so greatly and there's concern that saying 'a little bit is ok' will be taken as a green light by some women to drink a lot

my only pregnancy vice is caffeine and the amount of people who say i shouldn't be drinking it at all drives me mental, mainly people who've never been pregnant so don't actually know what any of the advice is. if they comment i just tell them what the NHS advice is and how i'm well within it, which may not always be true but they don't know it's not my first can of coke of the day lol

It's ridiculously windy in the north west - just seen a lorry on its side on the motorway bridge at the Trafford Centre. you ladies be careful x

Jox - I wouldn't worry yourself, what is baby measuring at the moment? I've got a small baby, but we are petite in our family, she's going to be about 7lb when born which for our family is a lovely size. Do you know what you were when you were born? If your Mum says you don't have big babies in your family then I really wouldn't worry xx

Just back from the consultant, no scan as they did one last Monday. They're happy that baby is growing perfectly. She's petite but consistently following the correct curve that they like baby's to follow. Been confirmed that I can go to the MLU birthing centre up the road from my house and that my thyroid condition shouldn't require special attention during labour :D ThyCA 0 Kerri 1. Have celebrated with l1dl half coated choc chip cookies :D Shattered now though, and I've missed 3 parcels grrr :(

Thanks kerri, I've just looked at my notes and they say he's 2lbs 7oz at moment but I can't see if they've written his length, I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best! My mum said I was about 5lb when born.
