Congratulations to Lily and Abi!
I had a scan today to measure the fibroid, it hasn't grown since last scan which is good but apparently baby is smaller than average and I need to be scanned regularly to check his progress....
Nurse asked me if I'm a smoker, I haven't had a cig in 9 years!
I hope little man will grow and be ok!

SmlSave - oh and I shareda bottle of champagne whilst on our spa weekend. I've not touched a drop of booze all pregnancy and baby is still wriggling around fine. No idea what others thought as I didn't pay attention to anyone other than OH but I want drunk anyway. They saya glass of wine is fine anyway, it's if you get drunk and are then a danger of falling over etc that's bad.is have told her where to go.
As for the older lady, it would be lovely if we didn't have to work. But unfortunately their generation wanted equal rights for women, to go out and work like men, and to divorce and have their own houses. I unfortunately even if we wanted to we couldn't afford to be SAHMs unless we marry a well off fella. Honestly pregnant women get a lot of stick don't they!
Jox - hopefully baby just needsa growth spurt or the dates aren't accurate.the extra scans will show them if baby's following the right graph curve so try not to worry and yay for fibroid not growing
AFM - I'm off for my 36w(!!!) consultant appointment this morning.booked fora scan too as fundal always measures small.fingers crossed I'm discharged to MLU.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Smlsave- I'm so annoyed on your behalf! I really don't like how pregnant women seem to become public property for people to judge at will. So what if you had a glass of wine?! I know what you mean about not having a reply though, you don't really want to stoop to their level of rudeness whilst desperately wanting to tell them to naff off! I was at a Christmas fair with OH on Saturday and he was drinking pints, at one point I ended up holding his glass for him and took a couple of cheeky swigs and got a funny look from someone! I would never say anything to a pregnant lady with a glass of wine or whatever, if that's what she wants to do why should I be so big-headed to think that a stranger would appreciate my judgemental comments? I get fed up of people telling me what I can and can't eat. I've read the rules, I've checked the risks and I'm not going to do something intentionally harmful so leave me alone!
The old lady is just out of touch. Like Kerri says, if it wasn't for equal rights we might be able to live off just our husband's income but sadly equal rights = cost of everything rose = both people have to work just to pay the bills! I'd love to to a SAHM but there's no way we can afford that and bring our kids up with a decent standard of living!
Hope your little one has a nice growth spurt Jox! I'm sure everything will be fine.
Hope your scan goes well Kerri.
Your Mum sounds like mine TL! And my MIL, actually! Thing is, with our LO's name we've more or less settled on it but we're keeping a few options open in case he just doesn't look like the name we've picked! No point getting a load of personalised stuff saying Bob if we decide when he's born that he's going to be a Bill!MIL knitted a little baseball style jacket and the pattern had a B on the chest but I asked her to change it to H... she got all excited trying to think what that meant until I pointed out our surname begins with H!

Congratulations Abi & Lily!:j:j:j
First post in a long time to say I'm 37 weeks exactly today and I'm scared +++.
I'm on maternity leave now which is great as the PGP is really bad.
I got a Tens machine from Amazon and it's working a treat.
Can't believe how near the top of the list I am, my hospital bag and baby's bag are ready but the 'baby's room' is still a mess... I've got time, right?:o
Looking forward to chatting a bit more instead of just reading:grinheart It's Mrs Coupon now - saving and comping my way to a brighter future :grinheart0 -
I'm another who has a bit of a drink now and then. No-one's judged me yet.
I have a GP friend who I discussed it with in detail. The risk is almost all in the first trimester, so she advised avoiding alcohol entirely then just to be sure (I went off it then anyway, so wouldn't have wanted even a sip). Once you're past that, having a small amount to drink isn't going to have any effect on the baby. You just have to be sensible. I think a lot of the guidance around this issue is aimed at women who aren't sensible. Much easier to tell everyone not to do it at all than to tell women to 'drink in moderation' when everyone's interpretation of 'moderation' is different.
I limit myself to one glass a week, and often don't even have that. Perversely, knowing that I'm allowed the odd 'treat' makes me want it less. I'm going to get myself some Bucks Fizz for xmas - that way I can have a lovely glass of something with everyone else without it being too strongMortgage when started: £330,995

I feel this way too! It helps that I've gone off wine a bit too, I always fancy the idea of a nice cold glass of wine, but then when I have some I don't finish it! Much like a proper coffee, I will treat myself but rarely finish the cup! Light beer/lager though... I've always quite liked it but I could happily drink a couple of bottles of Sol/Corona/Kona/Mythos at any given moment! I limit myself to stealing sips from OH's bottles and sometimes pour a little into a glass to savour.
I have told OH that the day I get home from hospital I want to eat a massive slab of pate though! Can't bloody wait! :TOvercome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

Heheh, I did this with DD1, only with stinky cheese! I had a lovely meal of soft scrambled egg and a glass of bubbly, with soft/blue cheese and biscuits.

I think I'm lucky in that most of the stuff you shouldn't eat or drink in pregnancy I don't really like anyway. I hate pât!, don't eat seafood or sushi only fish & that's fine, I don't drink much and hate rare meat lol
And I don't like stinky/blue cheese lol! Makes me sound really fussy but I'm actually not, it just seems to be that all the stuff I don't like is the pregnancy 'banned' list!
So my only 'naughty' thing is dippy eggs & eating way too much chocolate which is probably bad caffeine wise. And too much sugar.
That's a good point birdie the cost of living is probably directly linked to women being more equal - which I'm all for obviously but not the cost of living part! Plus there's something to be said for being able to support yourself if your husband got ill etc
My nan once mentioned something about how she thought it was wrong people leaving their kids with their parents for free childcare they should look after them themselves, if it hadn't been my nan I would have blown my top!!
I mean my nan has absolutely no idea of childcare fees etc but yet she knows how expensive houses are as she's recently moved. Luckily my mum was in the room and said oh well I'd quite like to look after a LO for a day or two a week, just not 5.
My husband earns a fantastic wage but it's still not enough for us to buy a house without me working full time at least to apply for a mortgage even if I went part time as soon as it was approved, or without us moving a few hundred miles north away from our family & support network! Oh & my mums free childcare!0 -
I've just realised how "grumpy pregnant woman" my response was lol!!!
I've been terrible this pregnancy, I've eaten soft cheese (only a little), refused to have my steak anything more than medium (still pink inside), eaten calamari at any given opportunity and generally used the personal rule of "in moderation not to excess" with foods we're not "supposed" to eat. Besides, there's lots of conflicting information out there about what we can and cannot eat during pregnancy and they change their minds all the time. I have refused to clean the cats litter trays thoughand leave that to the OH which he hates.
