Gosh, no wonder you're a wreck Becca, 2 months is a long time! Hope your parents have fun though! :) Mine were talking about taking a 3 week cruise at the end of January and were all ready to book it until I reminded them that they had a grandchild due at around the same time! :p Luckily they've changed their plans! :)

Looking forward to the birth announcements! A lovely little baby boom, which will shove me up into the teens! :T

Don't like the sound of the Parentcraft class TL! I've been really wary of signing up to any classes because I don't just want to be lectured for a couple of hours and made to feel like my choices are all wrong. :o I'm not confident about actually looking after babies though, we've never really had them around in our family so we'll be learning as we go. For some reason my SIL is wary about me practicing on my nephew! :p
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

  • I had a tour round the birth centre I was meant to be using when I had my son, but when the time came I had such a nightmare with the MW at the B.Centre when I went into labour, I ended up (through choice) giving birth on the Labour Ward upstairs instead, which I'd never seen!

Can't say seeing the place first made any difference to me. When you're in labour you tend not to care too much about your surroundings!

The hospital I gave birth to my daughter in doesn't do tours, you can do a 'virtual' one online! :rotfl:

Good luck to Abi and lily today x

This may seem like a random question but do any of you ladies suffer from frozen nipples? I used to get it occasionally before I was pg but now I get it ALL the time. If it's slightly cold outside they are so painful and it gets to the point that I can't even buy milk or cheese in the supermarket as if I get too close to the chiller cabinet it's hell!!!
They're only fixed by cupping them in my hands which I can't really do in public, ha ha! Dreading what they'll feel like when breast feeding if they're like this now!
Do you have any solutions? I was wondering whether any if the nipple stuff you're supposed to use when breast feeding would work! I'm thinking of knitting a pair of nipple warmers to slip inside my bra!!

So... I have good news and bad news! My waters sprung a leak at 2am and I started contracting. Left it a while, contractions got closer so arranged for my friend to come and look after DD and we made our way to hospital.

Was examined around 5am and was 2cm and found that its the hind waters thats gone. Main membranes are still in tact. Contractions irregular so sent up to the ward to wait for induction as planned at 8.30am.

Was monitored for an hour and me and baby are doing good. Contractions are clustering at times but no pattern and not regular. Doc decided not to induce at this stage - have to see how i progress over the next 24 hours before they will intervene.

Am staying in now til baby is here and I believe DH is allowed to stay the duration as well now (he nearly got sent home between 5am-8am as chaps aren't allowed on the antenatal ward over night but luckily we're in a private room so he can stay)

Will update as and when I can.

Hope lily and ice are doing ok.

Might mean we miss out on the hospital tour but I'm not particularly bothered by that as I'm not particularly anxious or bothered by hospitals. Unless others here thought their tour was invaluable?
I would say that the hospital tour was the only useful part of my NHS antenatal classes but I don't think it is essential.

I don't have this problem but my best suggestions would be to get some reusable breastpads (that people use for milk leakage) to use as an extra layer of insulation or to wear extra tops.

Good luck abis! Hope things progress quickly, bit annoying for you that the induction isn't going ahead... but baby must know you love waiting ;) Hope it all progresses naturally and you have them in your arms soon :)

TL the hospital tour was the one of the only NHS things I went on I think... but I didn't even know which building the mat. ward was in etc. so I did it for peace of mind if my OH for some reason couldn't take me to the hospital.
In the end I was glad I did it because I had to be dropped off whilst OH parked and it was the middle of the night so I had to do some wandering through corridors to find someone. If I hadn't had the tour I would've been quite stressed at that point. I also found it useful to have had a tour of the ward because after Jack was born they wheeled me through it backwards - which was nauseating but at least I knew the ward wasn't very long :D

squ1rrel this may sound odd but have you noticed if they change colour when they're sore? Do they go white at the end..?

Good luck to all awaiting arrivals!
