Just had a big panic that I'm 25+0 today and I haven't officially told my work about my pregnancy in writing (even tho I told my boss verbally immediately after my 12 week scan).

Looking into it, I think it's ok as long as I tell them before 25+6. I have my MatB1 ready to hand in and the forms all filled out, but they got buried under a mountain of paperwork on my desk.

Not the sort of thing I needed to panic about when trying to get a sick DD into bed!

  • Hello all!

Looking forward to all the baby announcements over the next couple of days - Abis hope you are ok and that your tongue isn't chewed off from biting it when everyone asks whether you've had your baby yet! Lily lots of positive vibes and a big hug your way too.

Becca I'm not surprised you're feeling emotional, it's lovely that your parents can get away for a nice long break (assuming that's the purpose of the trip) but I bet you will miss them. Skype is your friend!

Birdie yay for baby freebies! My friend had a 10lb 5oz baby ... think she's taken one for the team as sure we won't have 2 whoppers within 2 months in our circle of friends!!

Amyloofoo wow, getting a date is so exciting! Keep us posted! Sorry to hear you're not feeling physically great but keep smiling - it will be so worth it :)

AFM, I am loving the fact that baby is now due next month!! My Tassimo machine and pods have arrived so curled up with a Costa caramel latte - I've forgone my usual cups of tea all day to "save up" my caffiene allowance! Looking forward to a nice Christmassy weekend - going to a Victorian fair and out for my first turkey dinner of the season on Saturday. We won't be having a tree this year as DH isn't bothered, DD will pull it down, and I frankly can't be ar5ed with taking it down again when 38 weeks pregnant.
  • Just popping in to say good luck to all those expecting to meet their baby tomorrow! I'm looking forward to the announcements... makes me excited to meet my little boy.

I'm off to bed in a sec to listen to my natal hypnotherapy CD. I've had it for a week and I haven't got right through yet - it's so relaxing that I keep falling asleep halfway through so I'm not sure how much good it's going to do me!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Does anyone else get random shooting pains "down there"? I've been having them on and off the last few days and sometimes they are actually quite painful and make me gasp - I presume it is little one bashing my cervix or something?!?

Also, I know we are supposed to get swollen ankles after walking about all day, but mine are fat even when I get up in the morning - anyone else? Do I just have to accept that my ankle bones will be in hiding for the next 6.5 weeks?

Well I don't want to go to the second parentcraft class after that one! We got told off for not wanting to have a homebirth ('why on earth not' umm maybe because it's a legitimate choice to not want one and we're nervous first time mothers. !!!!!!) and could've been done in half an hour if we'd just been given the information instead of having to sit through group activities in a room that was far too small with not enough chairs.

The second one is looking after and feeding baby so might not go as I've been round babies since I was nine so I'm fairly confident I know the basics as much as a class could teach you. Might mean we miss out on the hospital tour but I'm not particularly bothered by that as I'm not particularly anxious or bothered by hospitals. Unless others here thought their tour was invaluable?

Oh god I wonder if we'll have the same!

Ive always been around babies too so Im not too bothered about that type of thing more interested in the stuff about birth etc. But not a lecture on home birth, that would be my nightmare now im not scared of hospital stuff anymore. I want to be where the doctors are with pain relief if I need it!!

Seen too many scary OBEM episodes where the midwife presses the alarm and someone is wheeled down a corridor - I want to be near the corridor not at home!

(no offence to anyone wanting a home birth but Im a worrier :) )

We don't get a tour anymore - just a dvd. Although the dvd was actually missing from my bounty pack - I just know there was one in there last year when I had the mc. So maybe we don't even get a dvd anymore :rotfl:

anyway Ive already had 1 night in the high risk/delivery suite in the hospital I do NOT want to be back there again until March. Id like to go to the midwife led bit but Ive seen pics online and that's enough for me.

If I get the chance to go for the tour this time I will as I found it really reassuring when I was having my daughter especially the discussion and tour around the special baby care unit. All a personal choice though.
