Abis - you have to think, "the way I'm feeling now, would a wild animal go into spontaneous labour"...if you're feeling stressed the likely answer is no as our bodies are built to keep us out of danger. I prescribe a good long walk in the fresh air, then a good long soak in the tub with candles, lovely smellies and a good book :) I know that's what I'll be doing if I go over.

What brought on your contractions before? Was there anything in particular or did they just happen?

Gosh I do sound like a right old hippy don't I haha, I'm not honest!

Good luck abis. Huge hugs xxx

Congratulations scarlet-I've sent you a pm to look at when you get home xxx

A fm, little Thomas is really well. He doesn't particularly like sleeping after his night feed, usually at 1am. BReast feeding has been a little bit of a battle but we're doing ok now. The support from hospital, midwives and breast feeding support has been amazing; they're here every day.

I suppose it's time for me to leave the thread. I've loved being part of it so thank you to everyone for the advice, chat and listening to moaning, and wish you all the best of luck. I'll be lurking!

Thomas is so cute Vic! :D

Congrats to the new Mums and thanks for sharing your lovely photos!
Hugs to all the ladies feeling blue or unwell x
Just looking into feeding following all the talk about Perfect Prep and found this set which I thought was fairly bargainous: http://www.mothercare.com/Philips-AVENT-Breastfeeding-Support-Kit/613307,default,pd.html £80 (usually £150) for an Avent breastfeeding pack ie electric pump, storage, bottles and extras. I get the impression a pump by itself is often more than that. I need to do a bit more research but might get this over the weekend before the offer runs out.
    Hugs all round x

I think I've finished my pity party now :o thank you for listening and letting me moan :o

I don't really know what brought on my contractions kerri, they seemed random. Sometimes walking, sometimes sitting, often in the middle of the night, one time whilst ironing (not over fussed for repeating this one tho :p )... There didn't seem to be a trigger or anything.

Awww birdie, you made me smile with you squeezing the baby out :D

Awww vic! Thomas is an absolute beauty! Thank you for sharing his piccie.

Had a nice phone call with MIL and have done some tidying so hoping not to write off the whole day after my upset this morning. I also lost yet *more* plug. Really grossed out as to how much has actually been up there :rotfl:

  • Aww super cute baby photo! Congratulations

Does anyone have low platelets? I did in my 2 previous pregnancys, the first they didn't really worry and with my 2nd the consultant took a 'watch and wait' approach. It wasnt until the last few weeks they really dipped and ended up inducing me.

I went for a blood test on Monday as I'm due to see the heamotolgist tomorrow. I came home yesterday evening to an answer phone message asking to ring back to discuss results. :-( I had a horrid nights sleep as I spent all night over thinking things.

The heamotolgist rung me first thing this morning and my platelets are 43. They were that low last time at 37 weeks, I'm only 25+5 now. He said they need rechecking tomorrow and they will be wanting to start treatment to get them To a higher level. I've spent all morning googling Iv transfusions and steroids eek. X

Thanks for the list Amyloofoo ;)

Sidney, I can't help personally but my friend had that problem, but sounds like it wasn't as 'severe' as yours. She wasn't induced because of it or anything, so...I guess I'm basically saying I can't help you there! :p Sorry! :o

Abis, hope things get kick started for you soon :) I'm sure whenever bubs will arrive, it will be ok with DD etc. These things have a funny way of working out sometimes

Vic3, lovely pic of Thomas :D

    KScarlet, congrats!

Birdie, I too have the feeling bubs has been trying to prise my ribs up during the night ;) Achey!

    Welcome squirrel and lanie :)

MiniZee's mattress is here - crikey Kidd1care are efficient with their deliveries! I only ordered it last night and within a couple of hours had an email that it had been dispatched. Then an email today that [named driver] would deliver between 13:19 and 14:19 today! And he did! Trip to M0thercare tonight to get the cot top changer and hopefully some more bump friendly pj bottoms (non online in my size :(). Car seat base should be arriving Monday. Baby gate (to restrict dog movements rather than baby's at this stage!), nightlight and bath thermometer on Friday... Getting there. Hopefully it'll help me relax a bit when everything's arrived :o Just a few bits for my hospital bag to get too...

Btw, re leaky b00bs, there was a BOGOF on Johnsons nursing pads on M0thercare when I was looking yesterday, if that helps someone. I hear tell that there's 20% off everything for the next couple of days there too, but not checked the website yet on that one...
