Don't get me wrong, I totally understand why the MWs aren't really bothered about me because I'm low risk in both a medical and social sense but it still bugs me that they just assume that because I tecnically *can* figure it all out for myself that I *have* or *will*. End of the day this is my first baby and I haven't the first idea what I'm supposed to be doing. I've had anxiety issues in the past and it's not even occurred to any of the health professionals I've had contact with to even check that I'm dealing with everything from a MH perspective. :o I've felt like this for years though, even when I went to the GP to go on the pill way back when, the doctor didn't even bother discussing different types of contraception, different types of pill or the side effects of them all as he just said I seemed smart enough to know what I wanted so just prescibed me something without bothering to discuss the options. :p I just feel like it'd be nice to be a person, no matter how 'boring' my notes are, not just a number. :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

I haven't had chance to catch up but *hugs* Birdie I feel like sometimes MWs should offer a bit more support and those who feel they don't need it can just go without. With my first pregnancy I was terrified and not v well informed, I can remember my MW just asking me to roll up my sleeve (I assumed for BP) but she jabbed me! I didn't have a clue what for but found out it was anti D due to being rhesus negative. I was really upset it hadn't been properly explained to me :( this time I feel like I know a lot more and have only been to appts due to BP checks etc (altho I am high risk for various reasons) I've haven't got anymore MW appts until after I have my baby now :)

Apologies if that makes no sense, I'm feeling exhausted and drained :( x

Vic what you've packed sounds about right if you are nearby. I've got 4 sleep suits and 4 vests but will keep a bag full of spare nappies/ clothes in car as I am 1 hour away from hospital. Sounds like it could be happening for you soon :) did your mum/ sister have their babies before due date? My mum was overdue so I assumed I would have my babies overdue too :p x

That does seem quite poor really, are your anxiety issues on your notes? At least from now on you should (according to the midwife at my last surgery) be seeing the same midwife for all your appointments so hopefully you'll have chance to build some rapport

Only interesting part about me is my weight, just think how dull I would have been to them if my BMI was in the normal range :rotfl:
not that i wish for complications, i'm very content being dull :)

I have my next MW appt the day before my due date where they will be doing a sweep.
I was 10 days late but my sister had my nephew on his due date.

Just found out the birthday boy (2 yrs old) from the party we went to yesterday has come out in chicken pox. My rubella immunity has expired, does anyone know what I should be looking out for. All I can remember is the letter telling me to stay away from kids with the pox. I've had chicken pox before when I was little though. He gave me a kiss when we went to leave, other than that I didn't touch him and most of the day I was stood away from the children.

I'd give your doctor a call tonight and ask their advice. I'm sure it's fine but better to be safe kerri.

You'll need to give them a ring and arrange a blood test Kerri, hopefully all is fine but at least then they can give you answers for sure.

All was fine with baby earlier. Went on the trace machine for 30 mins or so and heartbeat was steady even through a contraction so am pleased with that. Baby was very lethargic compared to normal tho - movements were very muted. I had an afternoon snooze at 3pm or so and since then baby has been back to full on punches to the cervix and wiggles - so very relieved about that.

Just hoping the antibiotics kick in soon so I can get fit and rested ready for labour now.

As for the midwife chatter - mine have all been open to any questions I had for them - but they don't particularly initiate any subjects. Mine haven't asked me about any domestic violence issues or anything but for any question I have had for them they have been very good with me. I really like all the midwives I have seen and I like the way I am treated, but I'm not an overly anxious person so that might make a difference to how I view things :o

Birdie I don't get a 22 week appt in my area.

It goes 20 week scan, 25 week see Gp, then 28 midwife.
