Cleofish, Poppy is so adorable, thanks for the pic
My DS had a full head of hair when he was born too, it was dark and now he is blonde. Just got gradually lighter up to second birthday.
Another sweep today but MW said she couldn't sweep properly without hurting me as the cervix was too far back. However she did say I'm now 2cm dilated so some progress since Tuesday. She also disagreed with my usual MW and said that unless cervix comes down a bit they'll struggle to break my waters on Wednesday. Things can change by then though. Asked about the plug and she said the cervix never fully shuts after first birth so it is possible to continually lose bits of the plug towards the end. When its bloody that shows yhe membranes have separated from the inside of the womb slightly due to cervix opening / descending / shortening.
Anyway to cut a long story short no significant change here so far2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013

Just curious how everyone around the 38 week mark feels/felt? After another lovely conversation with my mum she is making out that I am abnormal!
She told me I need to be active and go out for long walks instead of sitting around the house. I told her no as walking is quite difficult and painful but apparently this is not normal and I'm just moaning and lazy.
I'm finding walking quite painful due to lots of pressure, i get stabbing pains in my downstairs region with every step, my stomach feels like its going to drop off and I also have some problems with my feet at the minute. I am pretty certain this is all normal at this stage of pregnancy, I know it has been a very long time since she was pregnant herself but surely you never forget how difficult the end is?0 -
All completely normal! I think there are very few people who don't feel at least one or two of those things towards the end. Maybe your mum was lucky? I have had a sore hip for weeks now, have forced myself out of the house a few times for a walk or shopping etc and always pay for it the next day. Walking is great to help baby engage and put pressure on your cervix but it's important not to overdo it as well.0

Hiya,
I'm 38+1 now, have been feeling remarkably fine (and smug) until today where I'm completely shattered - just woken up from a 2hr nap...!
I get tired walking and start to waddle more and more, then if I sit down I find it quite hard to get back up again because of pain in my right hip - but luckily it goes away after a while.
The stabbing pains 'down there' when you walk sound like exactly what we were told about by a physio running the antenatal class last Tuesday. Combination of the relaxin hormone loosening your ligaments at the front of your hips and also possibly your pubis bone softening. All natural preparation for the 'accommodating' exit route... but a bit of a burger for us to cope with in the meantime.
I'll try to see if I can find some of the helpful hints/tips she gave to person that was suffering from it just to see if it also helps you if you like.
I think the problem is everyone is different and you might be experiencing pain/difficulty that she didn't or in different places... but it doesn't sound very helpful at all and certainly isn't what you need to hear. The magic of motherly advice/love during a pregnancy - we'll all get to play that role in years to come...!
Well, 'cept currently I'm having a boy... there is no advice I can pass to him about being pregnant.0 -
i've been wondering if any of you use/plan to use organic baby products? Myself and most of my family have quite sensitive, eczema-prone skin so would like to keep chemicals etc to a minimum for bathing baby etc. any recommendations would be appreciated0
-
I have a friend who is vegan and has eczema so is is very particular about products she buys. She's given me some toiletries for baby that she also bought for her new nephew. The brand is "Earth Friendly Baby".
We used baby shampoo and baby bubble bath (Johnsons) with DS but as far as creams, the nurses recommend just Aqueous cream if they have dry skin. My friends little one had baby eczema and she was prescribed Oilatum which worked.2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013

My beautiful baby girl made her dramatic entrance to the world early this morning via emergency section at 38+2.
She is so beautiful that I have forgotten the trauma of it all already.
Feeling the best I've ever felt, if a little tired, sitting here with my baby girl snuffling away beside me!0 -
