Just back from the growth scan, everything looks good and baby is measuring small but within the normal "guidelines". I did tell her we weren't exactly huge people
The security guard made me chuckle, he thought I was in the early stages of pregnancy and gave a funny look when I said I was actually 26w apparently my bump isn't big enough to be that far along. No more scans booked and only to go again if midwife is concerned. I did notice the girl that was in the GP surgery for a MW appointment just after me turned up just as we were leaving, so maybe our MW is just a bit rubbish with a tape measure.

Just had my 36wk appointment today and asked about when I would discuss a birth plan of some sort... I was met with a blank look, followed by a suggestion that someone might do it at my 38wk appointment but only if I booked a double appointment.
I was then told by the receptionist that I might have to wait 3 weeks until there was a free appointment to be had...
Let's hope I'm not early and last until week 40, otherwise who knows what I'll be doing and where I'll be doing it.
!!
Rant over, back to work... *twiddles thumbs*
Also, you should be seen every two weeks at your stage (and every week once you get to 40 weeks) so they should have appointments available sooner than three weeks - that is an unacceptable level of care!0 -

Sounds like my experience! Apart from my baby was measuring bang on the line/slightly higher (but within the guidelines) despite my midwife measuring me slightly below/on the very lowest line. The waiting room was full of the 'usual crowd' from my GP office too...
Glad everything is going well though0 -

I thought the theory behind sweeps was that it can encourage the natural labour hormone to be produced? I doubt I'd be knocking them back, personally, but then I'm concerned about my comfort/pain levels towards the end.
For me personally I have mixed feelings about going overdue - technically I'm full term (37 wks) the week before christmas, edd is 8th jan, 42 wks would be 22nd jan. For the baby's birthday's sake I would prefer closer to 22nd jan, just so they don't always have their birthday celebrations right on top of christmas and new year. For me personally, with my conditions, I fear I'll be crying if I even get to due date, nevermind 2 weeks past. I'm also aware that anything could happen between now and then and I could well end up having a c section/induction booked in for me before edd anyway, so I'm trying to remain open to all eventualities at this point. My mum had 5 children and only went overdue with the 2nd by only 3 days, my sister didn't go overdue either I don't think, so hopefully this baby still make it's own timely arrival, in a water birthing pool, with a shortish labour on minimal drugs and a 6 hr healthy dischargeWell, I can dream can't I?
I've done some babysitting for a 6 month old recently and am pleasantly surprised by how my dogs have behaved around him. Gives me more confidence about bringing our own bundle homeOne will be more hard work than the other (who is entirely unphased) but I think partly that's because he's not sure whether to protect the baby or me. He's a bit of a "nanny dog" and anxious in general anyway.
We moved all the furniture etc round in the baby's room a fortnight ago, to make space for the cot (which we will hopefully pick up from relative's tomorrow) etc, and realised how knackered (and unsightly) the wardrobe and dressers actually are. Good excuse to get it replaced I think, especially as the grandparents-to-be have offered
Will be going to the baby show this weekend, so hoping we get a nice freebie bagand a decent look at some carrier/slings and reusable nappies (jury's still out on whether we'll go for them currently, but it'll do dh good to be able to visualise all these alien concepts
).
Hope you all have a lovely weekend
25+2

Also, you should be seen every two weeks at your stage (and every week once you get to 40 weeks) so they should have appointments available sooner than three weeks - that is an unacceptable level of care!
Yeah I think I will start writing my own. To be honest, this is my first so I'm doing it a bit in the dark - but there is plenty of information floating around the internet that I'm sure can guide me.
I'm also a bit nervous as my local hospital often sends non-urgent cases to the next nearest hospital, to which I've never been and is a while away... as I've been one of the most uncomplicated pregnancies to date (which I feel very lucky for) it seems likely that I'll be one of the re-directed ladies if it is busy. Was hoping to discuss this and the practicalities of it with the midwife, but I guess it can wait until 38wks too...
They all seem a bit ad hoc, I'd say about 80% of my appointments have been 'drop-in' sessions because there have been no available booked appointments. I do feel a bit of a nuisance at times, but hey ho...!
Exciting times lay ahead, plenty of positives to concentrate on too0 -

Can I dream there with you please :rotfl: dont know why but I just have a feeling this labour is going to be really long! I am hoping to be proved wrong.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Moan alert....
I spoke to my sister this morning, she's 2yrs younger than I am and her oldest will be 4 the day after our EDD and her youngest 2 a month later. She's always said she wants a 3rd but will wait 5yrs after the 2nd as she never has any money and Dad is always bailing her out. She always acts towards me like I shouldn't be at my parents when I go to visit and makes me feel unwelcome, OH says it's because I'm getting my parents attention instead of her when I'm there. Well today she has told me her and her OH are starting to try for the 3rd. I can't get my head around this as last week she was kicking him out of their flat and they were breaking up, this week their trying for a baby and he's saving up for an engagement ring. I think the thing I'm really not liking is her last pregnancy wasn't smooth, she had 7w of contractions and made a huge song & dance about it all the way through. So by the time my baby comes along all attention will be on my sister and I just feel like my baby will take a backseatI know this all sounds really silly but I needed to get it out.
