Just popping back to say congratulations to the ladies just having given birth
My little man is 3 weeks this week, he's an absolute angel, we're very lucky!
Toothfairy- i have the same money issues/worries, my dh lost hos well paid job last year and is earning peanuts now, and im the main earner in our house 2. Im dreading smp starting, and my drop in income will be near what yours is. Im largely comission based, so pay can vary greatly but is usually very good. Ive spent my whole pregnancy trying to come up with ways of reducing debt/paying out less, and its very difficult. My thoughts now are if i can get through 8 months on £136 a week then there is no way ill be going back to work full time, id rather be there more than i have been for my children and work part time.
Kerry - i know how u feel, i spent 4 years ttc and had ivf which failed, and now my sil is expecting, they got married and the month after she was pg, even though they wernt trying. I also have 4 pg cousins!! But now little man is here i really dont care because he's so special to us and i'm sure you'll feel the same when your little one comes along.xStill here..... but working on that!0 -
I just want to add my penny's worth regarding sweeps. I got to 41+3 or 40+10 whichever way you want to look at it. I had a sweep at 40+7 and at that point I would have tried anything. I had a fantastic pregnancy, no sickness, no back problems. I was still going to the gym, out walking, I was hauling my wide !!! around our nearest park trying to get the baby to come out. I worked up until 39+3, but I was sick of carrying my belly as it was huge and I kept thinking the longer she stayed in the bigger she would get!!
I tried RLT, hot curry, pineapple, I didn't have a bouncy ball to bounce on- I've got one this time as it was going on freecycle. Sex was just stupidly awkward!
I had the sweep on the Thurs, contractions began Sat at 4am and baby was born 13:48 hrs on the Sunday so I do think the sweep work.
I just wanted to add this so people knew that sometimes sweeps do workGot married 13/11/10

Thanks littleskintdragon she lives 60miles away anyway near my parents so at least I'll get our little lady to enjoy by myself (selfishly)
Continual thanks for the picture I had no idea wha it looked like, ordered the matching sleeping bag whilst it was in the sale too.
Re:money - ill be dropping almost £2k too, I've managed our bills so OH can pay them on his wages but secretly I'm looking forward to the drop in income as itll prepare us for the big save we need to be doing so we can buy a house I. 3yrs, we've set a target of £60k between us which will only be done if we can learn to live frugally, which we manage only half e month atmDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

I'm quite lucky in that DH earns far more than me, my actual part time wage is not much more than SMP once the childcare vouchers come out so nothing really changes much financially for us, maybe about a £50 drop.
I can't decide whether I want to go back to work or not. Just not sure if its worth it when taking into account petrol and childcare costs, and sometimes feel like I'm missing out when I can't attend school events like sports days etc. On the other hand there's loads of opportunities for promotion coming up where I am, which would give me a decent jump in pay so its either apply for a career break or do the opposite and spend my mat leave applying for promotion! I do like the independence work gives me, think I would have difficulty maintaining a proper routine as a SAHM.0 -

The code is 2753, I think it has to be your first order as well.
Thought I'd post if its useful to anyone as I used it awhile back to get the changing bag and whilst the bag isn't exactly big, it is lovely and a very good freebie.
I got this a few weeks ago and the bag was very useful to take to hospital as the bag of baby's first essentials. The changing mat was also very useful in hospital, as you are expected to change baby in the little plastic cot but they don't provide any mats and it's not very hygienic to change it on the cot sheet.
As for vertbaudet themselves, I drove myself crazy trying to find things to put in my basket that I could actually get the £15 discount on as loads of things didn't qualify, eventually plumped for 2 fleece sleepsuits which when they came were rubbish quality and faulty so sent them back, but at least I got to keep the changing bag.0 -
If I wasn't broody before, I definitely am now. My bed is covered in little girl newborn - 0-3m baby girl pastel pink clothes. They've just arrived from fleabay and are absolutely gorgeous. I can't believe the condition of them either, they're like I've just gone to the shop and bought them, can't believe these are second-hand at all
Were a complete steal as well. Lush

Reminds me I have to get my DD's old stuff out of the attic. I remember some clothes she only wore once if at all! We used to go to a bf group on a Wed and a HV coffee morning on a Thur and one of the other mums commented that my LO was like a model she never saw her in the same thing twice! :rotfl:
I'm sure you'll find the same, well meaning people buy you loads of gorgeous stuffGot married 13/11/10

Thanks guys, it's nice to know others are facing the same problems re money. I guess we are in the right place lol.
I've inherited loads of clothes from my 8 month old nephew, some of which have only been worn once. We are sorted up until 6 months old, no doubt there will be more to come as he gets olderit's great!!

Hello
I would like to tentatively pop over to this thread a bit early at 21 weeks  My due date is the 6th of February but for health reasons my baby will be induced/delivered by section before 38 weeks. No firm dates as yet though. Oh and I found out recently that I am having a boy
As for the money chat I am in a similar position as the main earner and we have been frantically saving since I found out I was pregnant. It is tricky to calculate what I will actually receive after tax, pension contributions etc so I am erring on the side of caution and cutting back as much as possible.
The main costs I had thought through but I clearly forgot all about things like needing maternity bras at £30 a go and new flat shoes as well as many many little things that have cropped upThen I will need to get new clothes after the birth to cater for breastfeeding but I will worry about that at the time.
At the moment I am focussing all my energy on getting the house in order. We are getting work done and I am steadily clearing things out and getting what is left into some sort of order. It is hard though when I am so tired and the couch looks so goodTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Hi everyone i had baby bean (a boy) by emergency c-section under GA wednesday the 25th at 10.34pm weighing 7.6. No short easy labour like previous ones. Very traumatic due to placenta abruption sadly however me and baby are fine thanks to the fast acting labour suite staff. Cant fault any of the staff at all trying their hardest to get me to part with the little man but sadly theatre was the only way. Now home with the most gorgeous man in the world. No more babies for me 4 is enough even if the ward staff did say see you soon as i was leaving
not a prayer.
The staff who were involved in babies delivery did all come and see me and explain why and how etc the day after which was nice didnt realise there was so many of them. Wasnt how i wanted it to happen obviously but we are alive and here to tell the tale.Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait
