I'm not yet on mat leave but I know that I will struggle when I do go. Working two days from home at the moment to try and concentrate on handover notes/guidance without being distracted but it isn't stopping the office from bombarding me...!

Trouble with my work is they decided not to hire any maternity leave to cover the period I'm off for. I had two colleagues that I supervise that were going to absorb the majority of my workload - one has handed in resignation and leaves before my mat leave starts, the other had an accident on holiday and has been signed off work for 10+ weeks pending a possible operation so won't be back before I start mat leave.

Slightly stressful situation. I know everything I am leaving behind will largely just sit there and wait for me to return :(

Going to find it very hard not to try to dabble and do things when I'm off... although no doubt the baby will be a *slight* distraction :D

Please do not worry about work! I know its easier said than done but your post above sounds like me 3 years ago, I worried about work/ kept popping in/ allowed them to contact me and with a newborn who had colic/ etc I felt like I was losing my mind. They also kept phoning and waking him :( when you are on maternity leave it means you are off work having a baby! Enjoy the peace :) xx

Not sure if it helps anyone but Holland and Baratt are offering free delivery on all orders just incase anyone wants to order RLT, EPO, etc

  • Well that's one 24 hour period gone, one more to go to see if this sweep has any effect. I'm expecting it won't as I feel no different.

Hubby's prediction is the 29th. My q to him was did he think we'd have a Sept or Oct baby now, he chose to be a bit more precise with his answer, hahaha.

My original due date based on dates before we had our 12 week scan was the 27th Sept so I am curious whether baby will make an appearance on this date or a few days over.

Considering I'm 40+2 now I've had my 1st statement of 'gosh you can't have much longer to go'. I was at the chemist of all places getting a prescription and my 1st thought was to reply with a ridiculous answer with stating I had like 2 mths left or something just to see her reaction :rotfl:.

Decided to go into town today and do some little errands, also thought walking around might help start things. Don't like this feeling of 'what should I do to pass the time' as really I can find plenty of things to do, it's just a different feeling once you go past your due date.

Hope everyone is well. Loving the baby pics and congrats to the new mummies.

I will be sure to share my 'bump' photo shoot pictures with you soon. I got to see them yesterday via a link, but as yet haven't heard back about how many I can choose for free that are part of the deal. I was impressed with a lot of them actually, some are just too dodgy but I guess we're all like that when we look at photos of ourselves.

Feeling rotten and sorry for myself today :( done last lot of baby washing including scrubbing down Lamaze playmat we got at an NCT sale a while back, defrosted freezer, made a huge batch of spag Bol then walked
into town to get a few bits. Have had horrible period pains/BH since waking up at 3am. Hoping to get a nap in now before yoga tonight. That's if I'm not having a baby tonight! I kind of hope I am so I don't have to go through this again tomorrow... 37+1
  • Well, had all my hair chopped off into a pixie cut :) hope DH likes it.

Does anyone else get period paid at this time every night? I've had it for the past week and baby's not even engaged.

Had my appointment this morning, internal done, was scored 3/4out of 10

    Induction booked for Friday!

Still hasn't really hit me that this time next week there will be a baby in the house - my baby - anyone else feel at all like this?

I feel like that too - although not next week.

Well great news from today's appointment. Placenta has moved from covering cervix at 31 weeks to 13mm at 3 weeks to 24mm away today.

Consultant is happy with that and no need for planned section at this point. Back in 3 weeks for another scan but as things stand it's a case of letting nature takes ts course.

Downside is that I may be waiting longer than expected - but that's ok as it means things are more normal.

Just brought mat leave forward a week, so finish on Friday at 36 weeks. Feel better already!

Being bashed along corridors, struggling in sweaty classrooms has not been fun with my massive girth.

Doing handover tomorrow and switching on my out of office email response will be bliss.
