Is anyone else who's now on mat leave struggling to let go of work? This is the first time I've not worked for a substantial period of time since I was a kid so it's a complete culture change for me.

Yes - although I've still not done my handover for work so am still 'dabbling' from a distance!
I've worked full time for 26 years without a break (other than annual leave) & been fortunate to be in good health for that time - I would guess an average of 1 or 2 days sick per year. The shock of a sick note & 'rest' needed time to sink in.
I'm now on week 4 & have found it OK so far - although this week I am starting to get bored.
I'm not actually sure if I am now on sick or maternity - I have a sick note to cover until EDD but mat leave is meant to kick in if you are sick in the 4 weeks before EDD. I'm just keeping quiet on the subject & will see what happens.
I had planned to take annual leave prior to EDD so my mat leave is recorded to start on the day before EDD - I'm not sure if the system or my boss changes this. Sick leave would be good (never thought I would be pleased to be on the sick!)

Hi ladies,
Sorry I've been MIA for so long. I feel awful just coming on to say thanks to Zippy for this! Just got myself a pair for Sunday (figured stands might be more likely to offer better discounts on the last day - atleast that's what happened on The Apprentice! :rotfl:)
Hope everyone is doing well and a massive congratulations to all the ladies who have delivered recently. Great to hear positive birth stories too - sort of balances things out for first time mums who may get apprehensive by some of the posts on here
I'm very busy with Uni atm so can't come on as often as I would like but I nip in from time to time to check on people. TTC - As if you are 36 weeks! Looking forward to your birth announcement in particular.
Stuff with me is okay. Next growth scan is early October I think but I feel a lot of movement now which is reassuring. Just over 10 weeks to go!
Good luck to will catch up again soon!

I'm not yet on mat leave but I know that I will struggle when I do go. Working two days from home at the moment to try and concentrate on handover notes/guidance without being distracted but it isn't stopping the office from bombarding me...!
Trouble with my work is they decided not to hire any maternity leave to cover the period I'm off for. I had two colleagues that I supervise that were going to absorb the majority of my workload - one has handed in resignation and leaves before my mat leave starts, the other had an accident on holiday and has been signed off work for 10+ weeks pending a possible operation so won't be back before I start mat leave.
Slightly stressful situation. I know everything I am leaving behind will largely just sit there and wait for me to return
Going to find it very hard not to try to dabble and do things when I'm off... although no doubt the baby will be a *slight* distraction0 -
I am knackered! Have scrubbed the bottom floor of the house, proper 'spring clean' including skirting boards, doors etc. Turns out its quite an effort while almost 37 weeks pregnant lol. Aiming to get a good chunk of the house done each day.
Think this calls for a (raspberry leaf) tea break and last night's bake off!
