I'm sure people cope just fine with the 2 levels in the Ikea one.
TBH ours has 3 but not sure highest one will be used much as baby will be in crib/ Moses basket with us for a while. By the time baby is ready for their own room it may be time for middle level.0 -
Ahh congratulations helen & nikki and best wishes to b2b and jessi! How exciting
I had my growth scan today. Booked in as they showed no growth between week 31-34 and it was dropping below the bottom line... Scan today showed the baby was slightly bigger than average, normal fluids, everything measuring wonderfully!
Slight panic when the first head measurement came up at 38wk5 (I'm just 35wk) but the next few were a little more standard *phew*
Hoping to start decorate the nursery this weekend - finally got walls up and basic painting done on hallways, stairs, bedrooms and bathroom - just the finer details now. Oh... and the carpets in 2 weeks time. Not that I've been leaving things a bit late
Hope everyone is doing well x0 -
Thanks for the replies! It seems a faff but I was thinking of the implications of a lever and it dropping down or pinging up - particularly during the night leaning in and potentially ejecting the baby across the room! (As I said my thoughts won't let go of this one!!)
CONGRATS NIKKI!
Just had a "heated discussion" with the receptionist in the doctors who was telling me due to budget restrictions they expect people to buy their own water sample pots from the chemist. Brings a whole new meaning to 'not having a pot to p**** in.' After listing several reasons why I thought this was stupid I was then told pregnancy was the only time you can now have free pots.
Am I missing something but why would anyone chose to take them if they weren't going to use them?!! Or is there an underworld of water sample pots I'm missing out on?0 -
Congrats Helen and Nikki. good luck to B2bDS born November 2013 :smileyhea0

Last time I was there they asked if I could just take the tester paper in to the loo to save them having to wash the pot.
There is obviously a big NHS money saving scheme on the go here!0 -

I don't know how I've managed to avoid knowing this :rotfl: I was once helping a lady where Mum had delayed cord clamping but then had the injection about half an hour later so presumed it was just down to personal choice - on reading up though it sounds as though this will have been due to specific issues rather than usual practice.
It's not a big issue for me anyway, I'd be happy to have a physiological third stage, but I think I'd always just presumed that the 'type' of women who opted for one would opt for the other and that's why they always went together :rotfl: (sorry for how that reads, but you know what I mean)
Massive congratulations to Helen and Nikki, and sending healing and get-here-soon-baby vibes to B2B and Jessi. It's all kicking off on the thread today! Lots of beautiful newborn pics to come, yey!
TL - I'm totally with you on the oh-god-not-more-choices front! I've still not made a single 'big' purchase as I've just been massively confused by all the options. MIL has decided that she's going to come and 'help' in a few weeks though so no doubt it'll all get sorted then with minimal input and fussing from myself :rotfl: She's lovely, but I'm more than happy to let her and SIL make lots of the decisions while I nod along.
Big hugs to all who feel in need of them today :grouphug: Hope we all have a relaxing weekend ahead(with the possible exception of the remaining boldies, who I hope have a more active but happy weekend)

!!!!!! wash the pot?!?!?! My mw dips the test stick in and then chucks the pot in the waste. I have loads of pots in my house, but if they were charging I thnk I'd use something else not buy pots. I'd use something clean, but would everyone as then would they be sterile and give accurate results. The NHS is going bonkers!Got married 13/11/10

Congrats Helen and Nikki
My mw said at a previous appointment when we gave me a pot for next times sample, that at other doctors you either pay for them or wash and re-use them. She said she finds it ridiculous when a pregnant lady will get through loads so she robs them from the stock room to hand out!Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
Whilst you ladies are on the subject of cots...
I've noticed that in most places they say the cots have three levels, but IKEA cots have two
Are the IKEA cots deficient or is three levels just a 'nice to have'? as I quite like one of them and obviously it's a lot cheaper than the mamas and papas equivalent!
Sometimes I wish we lived in an ultra communist country and could only buy one type of cot, one type of pram etc would cut down on all these confusing choices! :rotfl:0
