  • Diamond - don't worry about the birth. Some women just love to embelish their birth stories and make them out to be much worse/more exciting than they really were.

I am a big wimp and I've done it twice now, so if I can do it, anyone can! :D

Btw I was drinking raspberry tea regularly and then taking tablets once i got sick of the taste and my birth was quick (40 mins) and uncomplicated :)

I agree with the majority of your reasoning about the vaccine (and indeed I'm baffled as to why the logic of, "it's been fine with three year olds so is fine for pregnant women" is applied to vaccines) but just to reassure you and anyone else about medication in pregnancy, thanks to what happened with thalidomide, they are very careful about what medications they give to pregnant women and although they can't do randomised controlled trials of medication in pregnancy (which is what they would have to do for the manfacturer to be allowed not to put "do not use if pregnant"/"consult your Dr if pregnant"/"not safe in pregnancy"), it is possible to do studies based on when women have taken medications such that there is a lot of safety data available for many of them so if a Dr does prescribe a medication they have a good idea whether there are risks and if there are any then they would be able to discuss them with you. I realise you weren't advocating not taking prescribed medicines in pregnancy but I also know that a lot of women are put under pressure not to take medication that is of benefit to them and their baby by our societal notion that medicines in pregnancy are dangerous.

Indeed. What happened with Thalidomide in the 60's ensured that the medical profession are now thankfully much more cautious about treatments they will offer to pregnant women. Medicine has advanced a long way since the 60's and now we have a much better idea of what substances are teratogenic.
  • Just bumping this up for everyone :)

I feel so....meh for the last couple of days :( Been having really bad dreams about the kids and I dying (such fun dreams) and just feel like crying most of the time :( Was our 1st year anniversary yesterday which was nice. We managed to get out for dinner on Saturday night to celebrate it. Also got a card yesterday :)

I'm trying to keep myself busy by organising bathroom stuff for when it gets ripped out, and also organising the new carpet for the bedrooms and stairs. But still :( nothing seems to pick up my mood.

Hope everyone else is having fun though :)

With anti-sickness medication unfortunately some Drs are over cautious to the point of it being fatal to the baby so I think you're far more likely to be refused safe medication than given something unsafe.

I hate pregnancy dreams - I don't remember them with the first few pregnancies but this one and the last one have been awful.
  • Well sweep done... Very uncomfortable!!!! Another booked for Thursday and booked in for induction on Sunday!!! Nothing happening yet... Midwife said everything favourable and I am 2cm dilated and I have thrush again!!! Hope baby here by Friday as oh really wants to take his son to uni on Friday... Or baby can wait till Saturday!!!!

Oh is stressed out with being self employed, getting the old house ready for tenant, building a tank for the snake and baby coming.... Have hardly seen him the last week!!! Do feel a bit guilty sat at home all day... But not much I can do about it!!!

Well officially bored now... Run out of material to make anything!!! So hoovered the whole house!!!

I have been drinking raspberry leaf tea since last week... Getting a bit sick of it now!!!

    I haven't had any pregnancy dreams... If I have I can't remember!!!

Good luck for those who have their inductions this week and to butler_helen... Hopefully we will have some more little bundles this week!!! :T:T

    Hi!

I really hope you get a natural labour, unless baby can arrive in the next ten hours I'm being induced.

I'm actually quite pleased as I really want to meet them now :) plus I'm bored of waiting and cleaning.

Well think baby may have dropped ... not 100% sure but was just round my Dads and baby was sideways again...so I moved it .. back under my ribs and all of sudden had alot of pain most I've experienced this pregnacy anyway and when it stopped I can't 'find' the baby other then a lump in middle of my tummy but not that hard...but def not sideways anyway :D Suppose it could be back to back ? But when im walking I dont feel extra pressure down their so unsure... -.-
People don't know what they want until you show them.
  • Good luck Welsh_Cosmic - hope something happens soon for you.

I started RLT at 32 weeks. 1 cup a day from 32 weeks, 2 cups a day from 34 weeks, 3 cups a day from 36 weeks and 4 cups a day from 38 weeks. It is the same schedule that I followed with DD and I had an uncomplicated labour and delivery and my pushing stage was 10-15 min. I'd be happy with the same again please!

Continualdiamond - I am currently reading a book on my Kindle - Ina May Gaskin Guide to Natural Childbirth and I highly recommend. Half of it is full of positive natural birth stories, and the second half details the actual birth process so you know what to expect in detail. Even though I've already given birth, I'm finding it a fascinating read.

Went to have my bloods taken today and they could hardly get any out. Gave up on my usual left arm and tried the right and got about half a vial. All a bit odd as I've never had a problem before. And it was super busy so I was there ages.

Finished my hospital bag so that's all ready and waiting. Going to nip to Boots tomorrow to stock up on stuff that I need at home.
