Tbh Im pretty worried about the heavy bleeding going home. Perhaps I am thinking to much but I have put in maternity jeans to come home in but worried about leaks? I have two pairs of underwear (planning on wearing both just to be clear lol) and they advise two pads....

Not sure if I should just switch it to leggings tbh... or am I just worrying waaay to much?

    Sorry TMI. :D

I would take leggings if i were u, just incase youre very sore.
As for bleeding, dont worry about it, after what youve been through it'll b the last of your worries. I would buy maternity pads though rather than normal ones, even if its just one pack, u can always buy more if u need them.
Still here..... but working on that!
  • so after another visit to the hospital this morning and finding out im still only at 1cm they are booking me in for an induction on Monday morning, just a little relieved, so not too long now

    39+1
Started comping again....Oct wins already!:£250 philosophy goody bag, £50 itunes voucher, £30 amazon voucher.....why did i ever stop!
  • So I said I would not be telling anyone I was in labour and everyone would find out once he has arrived. This didn't go down too well and she is insisting she will be seeing him within an hour of being born.

I can understand excitement but within an hour... Surely you'll still be having skin to skin and potentially being stitched or delivering the placenta?! I think you're right not to tell her until the last minute, you can't be doing with pushy people disturbing your first few hours of bonding!

I'll be taking baggy black joggers and a hoodie to come home in - nice and comfy!

Re. whooping cough, I can understand why some people are nervous about it but personally to me it's a no brainer - about 12 babies, all only a few weeks old, died last year from whooping cough, and the vaccination makes this situation avoidable. I think we're extremely lucky to be offered free vaccinations to protect our little ones from deadly/harmful illnesses. It was only a few decades ago that kids were being disabled from Polio, and they still are in many other countries. There's a lot of scaremongering information online, unfortunately, most of it with very little medical foundation.
  • MIL has just given us (first thing she's got for the baby as "she didn't want to buy anything too early in case the baby died" - just what a first time pregnant lady wants to hear), a set of hand towels she got free with a catalogue and a changing bag with cig burns in the lining. The towels will be great once washed, but I'm wondering how soon I can justify getting rid of the changing bag...

You must be so pleased Tiny! Kindness indeed.

I hope there will be better gifts to come (even if not from her).

I spoke to OH last night about the whooping cough vaccine, he asked me a few questions about statistics from pregnant women having the vaccine and I couldn't answer them as the vaccine has only been given to pregnant women since October last year. So I've decided not to have the vaccine. I think had the vaccine been being given to pregnant women for 5yrs+ then I would be having it regardless, but they still don't know the side effects of the jab. Baby will get every vaccine going though.

Re animals: Chloe likes to sit on my stomach and start purring, this makes the baby start kicking and the cat gets cross. I find it quite amusing. She's a clingy cat anyway, but she won't leave me alone at all anymore so I think they do know. She tried to lick the b1o-oil off my stomach last night eeww

Woke up in the middle of the night screaming, my left leg had cramped and I was in loads of pain. I haven't had cramp in years and forgot how painful it is :(

How on earth has a baby changing bag got cig burns!? Or was it a charity shop purchase?

I would just politely say as there are cigarette burns in the bag you are a bit dubious about its history and therefore don't really want to use it for storing baby's things. Or say you had already bought one you really liked.
  • MIL smokes, so it could be her. Or more likely it's from a charity shop and hadn't been checked. I don't mind 2nd hand stuff (pretty much everything we've got for baby is 2nd hand) but there are limits. Will probably just shove it in a drawer for a few months before discreetly getting rid. At least she's showing an interest now!

Just a quick post to say would anyone benefit from a brand new, packaged, Babies R Us foam mattress? It's nothing special just one of the cheaper end ones but it is too big for ours. Dimensions are 75 (l) x 28 (w) x 3 (h) cm. Willing to send for free but I can't get to PO till Tuesday so it would be posted then.

If it suits anyone just PM me and I'll forward it on x
  • Hugs Kerri I've been suffering with cramp at night too, I have to keep walking around the room to stop it which causes my pelvis to hurt (its worse at night) then I need the loo because I am standing, gota love pregnancy! x

Tiny oh dear that lovely presents!! I did have some odd things given to me by MIL that I kept for a while then binned several months down the line. She knitted a load of cardies/ etc for my son but gave them to me for his second birthday so nothing fit! I did keep them for just in case we had another baby but I have to confess I've chucked them in the loft! x

Re: Whooping cough jab, I decided to have it in the end. I wasn't 100% sure but DH seemed keen for me to have it. I do feel a bit anxious as its a new jab and obviously 3 years ago I didn't have it with my son but you never know. The first day my arm felt fine but today its very achy!! I had to have it in the arm I write with as I had the anti D the day before in the other arm so that's probably why its aching! Chances are baby would be fine without the jab but if they did catch anything I would never forgive myself. I do wish there was more research into it but obviously understand how it can't exactly be tested x

Re: Animals being aware of pregnancy. I always assumed they were aware? I know my parents dogs react very differently to me when I am pregnant but not sure its just them?!

I've just ordered a 'maternity support band' been wearing bump bands for weeks but I am finding they are too short now so ordered a longer one. Hopefully it'll keep bump warm!
