Thanks everyone! Looks like a trip to primark for some nighties and big pants then
Would have ideally liked a water birth and just worm an old tshirt or something but our hospital is getting refurbed so no water births happening for a while
How exciting nikki, sounds like your baby will be here soon. Best of luck, will look forward to hearing the good news!0 -
Tbh Im pretty worried about the heavy bleeding going home. Perhaps I am thinking to much but I have put in maternity jeans to come home in but worried about leaks? I have two pairs of underwear (planning on wearing both just to be clear lol) and they advise two pads....
Not sure if I should just switch it to leggings tbh... or am I just worrying waaay to much?
Sorry TMI.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
No don't be silly you've been a great help! I just always notice them advertising in the AAT magazine. Interesting to know it could be completed much cheaper though as AAT isn't the cheapest qualification ever (especially with books/ membership/ exams etc) I will definatly I've it some thought as I really enjoyed level 2, well bar BA2Trying to save for a deposit

Although they are HUGE the hospital maternity pads are fab I don't think leaks would be possible! My hospital gave me loads to take home. Tbh the blood isn't pleasant but it was just like a bad period so I think you'll be safe travelling home x some people barely bleed at all so hopefully you'll be one of those x
Bangton you sound v similar to me re: BF! I just find it hard still to get my head around, I know it's natural but it didn't/ doesn't come natural to me. I've always assumed I was the only one who felt like this! Good to see others do too! Once my baby is here it might all click but right now it still doesn't feel right xTrying to save for a deposit

fingers crossed TTC x
Health visitor was actually helpful and wasn't like the breastapo lol. Last day of work today and I got home and felt really unhappy. Ankles were huge and I felt achy and sorry for myself. Hopefully I can get more done now as I can pace things before my ankles get too uncomfortable. OH had a massive go at me on Tuesday and called me lazy - he said sorry and said I'd bore the brunt of the day but I still feel upset. 36+60 -

Sorry TMI.
Afterbirth bleeding isn't really any heavier than a period, it just tends to go on for longer. I think wish DD and DS I bled for about 5 weeks but it isn't like a waterfall so don't worry. You need to use maternity pads to begin with as normal towels don't absorb enough (and there are clots) but it isn't worth worrying about14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -
Re what to wear in labour, I picked up two nighties from Asda, £4 each. I got two as got one to wear afterwards as well. Though like some of you hoping for a water birth.
I plan on wearing leggings and a dress home purely because I feel more comfortable in leggings now so can only assume my tummy would be more comfortable in them post pregnancy than in jeans.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
With DD1 I didn't actually have a water birth, but I did spend over 2 hrs in the pool. I just wore my bra and a vest. I was going to buy a tankini, but never got round to it.
They put me in a gown then as the baby decided it didn't want to come out.
I had 2 nighties from Primark which had buttons down the front so if I undid them I could breastfeed, plus if I bleed all over them and ruined them I would just throw them away. They washed really well and I still wear them now so will wear them for baby number 2.Got married 13/11/10

DD2 born 28/11/130 -
I gave birth NEKED both times  :rotfl:
They do say though to leave your dignity at the door and pick it up on the way out which is so very true. Depending on what pain killers you go for, you will say THE most weirdest things. On G&A with DD1 I shook the hand of the surgeon who stitched me up after birth  and with DD2 I asked if the student wanted to climb in the birthing pool with me! :rotfl:What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0
