Sittingonastar wrote: »Hope you're getting on OK ruthsaver, sorry I went a bit quiet, was busy giving birth to my little man!!!:p
He arrived Tuesday morning weighing 7lb 11oz, everything was really straightforward, and we we're home less than 4 hours afterwards!!! Scary stuff!! Just getting used to juggling two and establishing his feeding in amongst the visitors!! :-)
Hope I've not ,missed anyone else's babas, big hugs coming your way Cleo xx
Congratulationsdoes he have a name yet?
Blimey I thought I was home quick with DS, they told me the couldn't discharge me until at least 6 hours after birth. Think in the end because the doctor got caught up he was 7 hours old when we left the hospitalBiggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -

I know that feeling!
I want mine to break in bed (fully waterproofed sheets with those pad things over them) or the kitchen where there are nice porcelain easy to clean tiles.
The bathroom has new posh laminate an the rest of the house is carpet or wooden floors! I can't imagine asking OH to sand and revarnish the wood all because of my waters.
I haven't seen the list recently but I must be nearly at the top... I'm all packed and waiting for Sunday when it's ok for baby to arrive. I will have finished the bathroom and sorted my house aswell as it being September. If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -

Yes not sure that would go down well :rotfl: "yes dear I know we have a newborn baby and we have both been awake all night, but you see the thing is the wooden floors are ruined because of my waters so you really need to get it sorted" :rotfl:Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Congrats Sittingonastar!
Cleo, sounds like your baby is a good size already and it's freat that your being closely monitored
Afm, waiting on my crib being delivered from mamas and papas. I ordered it along with mattress, sheets etc weeks ago when it was the sale but it wasn't in stock. Got offered free 'choose your date' delivery. Picked today as I am off work and got an e-mail last night saying the crib has been dispatched (what about the other stuff?) and the delivery people will text/email the morning of delivery (no text or email). Thinking its unlikely its even coming today!!

Cleo (I won't quote the post cos it'll just re-do the pictures and everything)... basically I started having period type pains, then slowly realised (mid Easter egg - never did finish that one!) that they were coming dead on every 4 minutes... went in to be checked out as the midwives were on skeleton staff as it was Easter Sunday. They checked me - cervix was closed but they spotted fluid hanging around so swabbed it and it tested positive for amniotic fluid. First dose of steroids went in and they were keeping me in till at least the second dose 24 hours later... pains got progressively worse and my waters went spontaneously the following day.
She wasn't in a great way when born (but because of the continuous monitoring she'd got stuck and needed forceps to get out) - went straight to NICU. Was in an incubator but not critical in one - they would let me get her out for cuddles for a day, couple of days in the lower dependency area with just cots - had to NG tube feed her for about a week as she was really drowsy because of jaundice (both my kids have had to do a couple of days under the phototherapy lights) and then we were home in under a fortnight - was definitely still a 35 weeker when we got her home.... no long-term effects at all - you just have a bit longer with the teeny tiny newborn who just eats sleeps and poos phase (I'm not a natural newborn person - I like 'em when they get more interesting) and have to wait a tiny bit longer for things like first smiles as they tend to do that based on their due date rather than when they actually were born. She's 16 months old now - is 98th centile for her height on her NON-adjusted age, and we ran into a NICU doctor before she was 1 who guessed she was about 2 1/2 - his jaw almost hit the floor when told she was an ex-preemie.
I've concluded I've just got a faulty oven timer on me - my second started trying to arrive around the late 33 week mark as well but they held that one off to get steroids in and she ended up dithering around in early labour but not dilating until week 36 and an epic 0cm to baby in under 15 minutes that caught all the labour suite staff out completely (they really did take the mickey out of the doctor who got caught out by that one)! She's technically premature as well - arrived right at the start of week 36 but was 7lb by then and came straight to the ward with me - kicking and screaming and objecting to it all!
Only other issue we had was it took blooming AGES to get round Asda (normally takes ages as hubby gets mobbed by little old ladies wanting help getting stuff off the top shelves) because of everyone stopping and asking how heavy she was, how early she was and the like - and then these really little old ladies telling you how they'd came at like 28 weeks all those years ago - which is kinda nice really.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

We don't have a nursery and people have been judgemental about this. But what else can we do in a one bedroom house?! Planning on moving early next year so I didn't think it'd be a problem0

And even if they do disagree with you it is not their place to pass comment! I am  on your behalf.
my nursery isn't ready yet. if you follow the *guidelines* baby is supposed to sleep around you and not in a separate room anyway.0 -
Me & DH also had a little arguement with my side of the family at the weekend about xmas - me & DH don't think we should buy bean anything for xmas as they will be about 3 months old & won't know what all the fuss is about - bearing in mind we have just done up their room & brought all clothes etc for first 6 months - spending a small fortune in the process - to shut them up i might make a stocking which can be re-used every year - anyway what would you buy a 3 month old for it's first xmas?
Can anyone else see where we are coming from?0
