    I'm having such a bargain weekend :D

    Pushchair: £289.99 down to £184
    Bunkbeds with 2 x 1000 pocket spring mattress': £310 down to £279

Not loads of money, but still, saved myself £136ish :D

Just hope I sleep well tonight now. :rotfl:

Bedding sets are a bit of a personal preference. For DD I got one from M&P that matche dthe whole room - really lovely. But the set came with a flat sheet, fleece blanket and a quilt none of which we have ever used. I did use the bumper with DD and will with this baby - but will make sure it is properly secured at all times. Obviously, low down on the list of priorities but I did find that the bumper stopped the dummies falling out of the cot and having to feel down the back of the cot in the middle of the night :o I've always used Grobag sleeping bags - they quite often have them in TK Maxx for c. £15. I liked 0.5 and 1 tog in the summer and 2.5 tog in the winter. My DD is/was a real hot child so I couldn't have any of the too padded ones. So all in all, my baby's bedding will consist of a fitted sheet, bumper and sleeping bag :)

I feel so tired today - serious lack of energy. Just put DD to bed and can hear her Mickey Mouse CD through the monitor. She used to drop off to a lovely lullaby CD but now she like the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme tune :o At least it's a short CD.

Oh, and the cutest thing. We were in the kitchen earlier and she picked up my box of Pregnacare and said "what's this mummy?". I said that they were for mummy and the baby and we have to feed them to the baby. "I feed baby" - but she wouldn't put one in my hand, she insisted on putting the tablet in my belly button :rotfl: "mmmmm - yummy" she said. Lol. I turned round and when she wasn't looking put that one in the bin.

Oh, I meant to add that these bumpers are meant to be quite good and reduce the suffocation risk significantly. Breathable, mesh bumpers:

I haven't even bought a mobile in case it came lose or parts detached and fell on him! One can get too hung up..as in my case!

lol I've done the same thing and don't want to get one in case it falls on bubba. I might get a light display toy if baby wants something to look at. I do have my Ewan sheep amazon bargain as well.

We have these! Anyone in Reading who wants the larger side you are welcome to ours, we have a two sided cot and I bought for a 4 sided one. So I have the really long one spare. It's new and seems a shame to waste it.

15 years ago, bumpers were utterly Wrong.
So, with a bit of effort, we tied one to the downstairs cot to hide the fact it was a toy box with a mattress at the bottom. Little coot slept in a Moses basket or on a big studio cushion downstairs. When there were siblings, *they* got dropped into the bumper- trimmed cot... Indeed, often we'd "imprison" the older child to protect them from the unstoppably curious baby!
Anyway, isn't the cot a place to sleep?!

We used cot bumpers for my sons cot, never thought of it being dangerous until there was a safety campaign about it. We always checked on my son regularly and he never got trapped/ tangled etc. Whenever the bumpers were in the wash he used to keep waking up bashing his head on the bars/ getting limbs stuck between the bars. I am hoping to avoid using them this time but will see how we get on.

Miffymoo I know what you mean about bedding sets, we had a couple and they were completely pointless; we did use the bumpers but the fleece blankets were useless as they can make babies overheat. There was also a couple of quilts I still havent used to this day! Our most useful bedding items were sleeping bags (pref thin ones so they can be layered up in needed), flat sheets (again can be layered up) and knitted blankets! Knitted blankets (machine or hand made) are warm yet breathable. I can remember when my son was born the MW practically threw all the bedding I had brought bar the knitted blanket as she said it was perfect. This time I've bought baby 2 knitted blankets (a M&P knitted gingerbread and a next knitted blanket) I still need to sort through my sons blankets but from memory there was lots of fleece blankets we never used!

Morning all, just to let you know that Atticus Charles arrived safely at 8.57pm on Saturday 24th August. Sudden onset of pre-eclampsia meant he was an induced hospital birth rather than the spontaneous home delivery we'd hoped for but it was still a lovely birth experience and very speedy too. Waters broken at 7.15 by crazy Linda from OBEM (surreal!), No pain relief, no stitches just a beautiful little boy. Home now and we're all besotted with him. Have been up ALL night with him getting milk going but he's so worth it!
    Updating soon...

    !

I never used bumper sets, personally I couldn't take the risk. I'd rather baby bash his head a few times then suffercate...

I don't think he really did bang his head that I can remember, I think the only time the cot was dangerous was when he started standing but had no balance so would wake up crying and first thing he would do is try and climb cot half asleep and could of easily fell back head first :( Luckily we avoided it.

He did however get his arms and legs stuck outside the cot...or just dangling out anyway but saying that he is now 1 and insists on putting his legs through the bars to go to sleep...? God knows why :rotfl:
