Actually, I'm reading a fab book on my Kindle at the mo. Ina May's Guide to Natural Childbirth I think it's called. It's American but written by a midwife. It's 50% natural birth stories and 50% discussion on the actual process of labour. Very informative.
I loved that book - I borrowed it from my doula and it was particularly good for DH as he could just read little bits now and then rather than having to concentrate for a long period of time (because he didn't have lots of spare time for it) and it helped him to be more positive about birth and more optimistic about how things could turn out.

I screamed at midwife all way through. She would NOT shut up. She was lovely don't get me wrong but I just wanted 2 seconds of quiet ...anything ! My Mum was with me and said a few things but since she got shouted at she got the picture and shut up ...my OH never said a word so didn't get shouted at.

I wonder how I will be this time lol.

I guess I don't like being told to do something I am already doing :|

Just to add.. I am genreally a quiet/shy person and apoligied quite alot after baby was born for swearing at her in particlar....but I do still think she was OTT not getting the picture but thats no excuse for me shouting/swearing. >.>

  • Miffy, Lola is doing well thank you for asking :)

The first night home we had no sleep at all, so that was a baptism of fire, last night was slightly better, so hoping things will be better this evening. Breast feeding has been tough, it was for me last time too, but I'm trying to push on through.

DS has been ok, but he gets very upset when Lola cries and starts yelling too! He is also very clingy to OH at the moment, and not so bothered about me.

I felt really disorientated the last couple of days, but we took DS and baby to the park earlier and feeling a wee bit more together this evening..I did have a cheeky glass of wine too which may have helped ;)

Just want things to settle into a bit of a routine as I am a very routine-driven person!

Got my parents and brother coming over tomorrow to meet lil lady, so that will be nice :)

Oh with my eldest's birth - my MIL rocked up in the delivery room just as things were getting interesting (she'd come to collect some house keys from us but pulled up a chair and sat down)... they were really getting on my wick with the push push thing and I said the next person to tell me to blooming well push was getting asked to leave... bye bye MIL!

I didn't scream. My first was born to the sound of loads of Drs/MWs yelling "Push" at me so I stipulated for my next that the room was to be quiet and specifically no shouting (and had a homebirth which helped avoid the millions of people) and everything was lovely and calm and quiet when she was born. I used hypnobirthing and gas and air and nobody knew she was about to be born until I reached down with my hand and happened to feel the head. I'm guessing it was my calmness/quietness that meant the MWs didn't really believe it as they offered me an internal examination at that point which clearly was impossible with a baby in the way! I also had a doula which helped with the calm atmosphere and I'd totally recommend having a doula and using hypnobirthing as ways of making birth an enjoyable experience - I'm so looking forward to giving birth this time.
I'm booked onto a hypnobirthing course for next month hoping it'll teach me to chill out as I'm really not a chilled out type of person...highly strung I believe the phrase is.

  • love hearing all the birth stories. I'd love a nice calm birth but I really have no idea what's going to happen.

I didn't make a sound with either of my labours, didn't have the energy! Apparently when I was pushing, my face went nice and red and that was it lol.

Will have to read up on hypnobirthing; sounds good. My midwives here expect me to know everything - I had to ask about antenatal classes and have now missed the first two as I'm too late! Everything has changed since I last went 16+ years ago. Wish they did a refresher course for us big-age-gap moms.

I've just read up on hypnobirthing and its not what I thought it was so although it sounds good, it's not for me. I personally get excited at the prospect of labour - my body is about to do something awesome; my own miracle and as for the pain etc, I will go with the flow of what is best for me and baby at that time. I'm quite relaxed about it all.

Has anyone had a lazy baby post 32 weeks? Mine went through a phase of constant wriggling and yesterday and today only slight shifting movements. It definitely did 10 bursts of movement yesterday but only light ones.

Have tried sugar and ice cold drinks to no avail!

    Hi ladies
Just popping over from the 12-24 week thread - does anyone know how often Pink Linings have their sales? I've had my eye on a bag for a while and just wondering whether to buy it now or leave it until later on.
    Thanks!

Lobey ...I had a lazy baby just prior to 32 weeks but not since. I'd go in if nothing much goes on in the next couple of hours just to put your mind at rest :) trying lying on your left for 30 mins if you haven't already x
