fluffysox I know what you mean. Now I'm pregnant tho I think it's a good excuse for missing birthdays and not sending cards - I have so little energy. You must have a lot of energy to make hampers at midnight!
Claree please stayI love hearing about people having healthy babies cos it makes me more positive. It also gives me hope if people have the time and energy to post despite having a newborn! So many people describe having a baby as some sort of awful shocking sleep deprived experience but I would like to enjoy having a baby.
To be fair, I was posting at 5ambaby is gorgeous, completely healthy and I just can't wait to get her home! Considering taking pigpen's stance and telling them we're going. Hoping for some good news today mind you.
I know this is going to sound so daft but one of my friends just won't stop texting me. It's lovely to know I have support but I cannot be bothered reporting every move to her!My Debt Free Diary

BeNiceToMyself - I am so sad re:birthdays that I have ordered all mine until 2014 from funky pigeon when they were all half price a month or so ago and set them up to be delivered direct to their home a few days before each is due. Due to lots of children on my side, we just do cards for adults so that's majority of my birthdays sorted until feb. just have 3 presents to buy. :-)DD1 June 1997

With regards to maternity leave I have just started at 29 weeks which I think is the earliest you are allowed. However I have only started this early based on midwife advice because of the amount of problems I have had so far with this pregnancy. It doesn't really make any difference to me with regards to how much time I will get to spend with baby because I will not be going back and plan to be a SAHM for a couple of years.
Just do what is right for you:)Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
hi again and thanks for all the advice the other night, been in and out of hospital ever since much to the annoyance of all the midwives, having a very slow time of early labour, still only at 2cm so its just a waiting game now, but already starting to get well fed up of the pain even though i know there's worse to come, 6 days of it and counting

Congratulations Baleb!
Walking on a dream - Like the others have said, you need to be really assertive about this and make sure you don't get pushed about. I've made it clear that unless I have an extended stay in hospital then I will just see them all at home when I say I'm ready. We've also kept all name discussions private. My Mum knows that I won't need her round every day, especially when DH is here and she respects this, but if you don't tell your mum she my think he's doing you a favour.
Also, when people ask about decorating nursery/buying things, just humour them. I've said the room is almost ready for ages when in reality the baby is just going in with us and there is no nursery...
Bangton - I finished at 36 weeks though first 2 were annual leave. I felt that this was a good decision - I was pretty tired and now wouldn't be great at all at work!
MV- fingers crossed for you, hope we get an update soon!
Claree- Please feel free to stay! I'm dreading the texts from people as I know I hate replying at the best of times! I have a friend who seems to think I'll text her immediately when I go into labour and then give her 5 minute updates. I explained that we will probably not tell anyone till the baby is born (with the exception of you guys if I need to vent!!!).
Had a friend round yesterday as I told her I was too exhausted to traipse around the city meeting up. However she stayed for 7 hours and I was shattered! Thought shed pop round for 2 hours, I ended up making lunch, loads of cups of tea and coffee and then having to drive her home. Would have been easier to just meet up as at least I could have left when I wanted and had my afternoon nap!!0 -
Bangton I think everyone's experience is different and a lot of it depends on how your pregnancy is, thankfully I had an ok time of things so if needs be I could of worked longer but everyone is different so go by how you feel in yourself rather than put yourself under pressure
MV hope things went well and looking forward to an update
Jessica, sorry to hear you are having a tough time with early labour, I hope all is well with you and the pain is manageable
AFM feeling rather frustrated tbh, didn't sleep last night and reading into every twinge is not good for managing my mood. I am beginning to think baby will never arrive and I am anxious to get the birth over with. It's like gearing up for a big event but not knowing when it will happen. Back with the consultant tomorrow morning if no labour today. I am definitely finding the waiting around rough physcologically and am in edge and unable to relax looking forward to getting back to being able to do things as at the moment feeling like I am on edge every time I leave the house.

It's awful - I had 2 weeks of it but not dilating at all - then went 0-baby under 15 minutes on just gas and air if that's any consolation.
Tesco baby event 20th Aug - 16th September... just got the mailing today - although the boxes of wipes we stockpile don't go on offer till next week.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

What wipes are these that I should be stockpiling?
I think I bought tesco baby own brand last time but I'm not sure if that's what you are referring to!
I'm bored out of my brains, my scan this morning was pointless. Apparently I wasn't fat enough to be there (for a growth scan) for my bmi and I'm otherwise "perfect" (I wish my partner would realise that) apparently the scan is generally used in very over weight women who have too much body fat to tell which way around the baby is, you can see bumps bottom moving around and legs kicking so there's no doubt here!
So I wasted £4 in parking and 3hrs waiting around just to be told to wait for the baby and take anticoagulants for 6wks following the birth.
On the plus side it was fun to see baby.
I'm now off for tea with a friend as my bathroom has been gutted in preparation for its refit... There is a rather hunky young man plastering though but my bladder comes first and said friend has a functioning toilet!
Good luck Jessica - I hope things speed up!If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
We use Huggies wipes but I know that they're a bit of the Marmite of baby wipes - some people loathe them. They periodically go down to £6-odd for a 9box which works out cheaper than most other deals, so we tend to buy 3-4 boxes worth over the course of a baby event since I've got two under 18 months old.
Plus then the eldest will sit and play with the cardboard boxes they come in for a good 2-3 days!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
I kind of feel sorry for the lovey person who updates the list next...so many births etc and its been quite a few pages since its been done.
..Also a fan of huggies wipes. They are really thick and easy to use unlike pampers. £2.49 each I think when not on offer?! Luckily they go on offer every 1-2 weeks at £1.00 or so!People don't know what they want until you show them.0
