Congrats Baleb! Having a flurry of girls on these last few arrivals!

Anyone have any advice on buying the first travel system? We thought we'd decided on two, but neither of those can have another seat added for a second child. I live in London so I'm looking to have it as compact as possible with getting on and off buses/tubes etc. now we are wondering whether to go for the bigger model (which is also more expensive!) to add on the next seat should we need it for a second. Or would a sling for a new baby be a better idea along side a pushchair? Getting way ahead of ourselves here but would still like to knowfellow mums opinions as this is our first!

So pros of the one child only = more compact for busy transport in London but cons are is it a false economy if you plan to have another fairly soon after?

Oooops! As long as you weren't surprised, that's all that matters! Sorry to hear the birth wasn't great
    Updating soon...
  • I have two packs of size 1 nappies so far. Any advice on how many of each size to buy for the beginning? I find it a bit confusing cos size 1 and size 2 don't seem to be too different in weight. 33+1
I wouldn't buy too many as you can't really predict how quickly your baby will go through the sizes. Mine both went through the sizes quite rapidly and always had to move up well before the end of the weight limit (because the waist/legs were too tight) but if you had a small child then you'd probably find the oppposite because their shape changes as they get older.

Lobey - My advice would be to buy a single if space is really important. Conceiving no.2 may not be as easy as you imagine and if thats the case, you've wasted money buying a larger system that may not get used. By 18 months a lot of children only want to use a buggyboard and by 2 they can walk everywhere. Unless you're going on countryside trecks quite regularly It's probably not worth investing in a double.

    Just my tuppence worth.

I have my GTT test on Wednesday. I think we get lucozade here lol

I had lucozade as well, a big coca-cola cup of it to drink in 10 mins. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink (except water) from about 8 ish the night before.

It was alright, I don't choose to drink lucozade but it's not a taste I hate. Ginger biscuits sound weird, I lived on those for the first 3 mths to keep my morning sickness away. I'd wake up and have to eat 2 biscuits before getting ready for work, a packet lived on my bedside table, lol.

  • Just seen my midwife - after waiting over 50 minutes for her to see the woman before me!

She honestly has been useless - I asked about my birth plan - she said "oh we don't need to do that - you've done it before" yes I have 7 and a half years ago and I was induced!! I don't even really know how to recognise labour having never done it by myself!

She doesn't want to see me again - just cheerfully waved me on my way with "bye bye sweetheart, off you go and have a baby". Not really sure what to do now!!
With my second the MW asked me a couple of questions at my home assessment (I was planning a homebirth) and then seemed to think that she had done my birth plan with me. I actually had an A4 page with my plan on but I figured discussing it with her was not that important given she was unlikely to be the MW attending my birth and unless she did then her views would be irrelevant. I did ave a birth doula though so I was able to discuss my plan with her which was very helpful and then she was there for the birth to make sure that my wishes were adhered to - I would totally recommend having one.
