  • OH is in the nursery decorating as we speak! I'm 39 weeks and we started about 6 weeks ago. It's taken ages as it was being used by OH as his 'music room' so we had to empty it and my goodness that took ages.

It has been re-painted and the woodwork re-glossed. I have also been re-painting some old furniture.

It is going to look so ace..I'm really chuffed. I love interior design and this has given me the opportunity to really make the room how I wanted it.

Just want OH to finish off all the decorating bits now so I can get in there and make it pretty! :p

Nothing wrong with Vincent or Robert!

There's no family name traditions for us. DH is v against using a name that someone already has in the family so although it makes names more difficult it is nice to have new names in the family. I did want to use a relatives name as a middle name but DH was v against it so obviously there's still drawbacks. I think we've picked baby girls first name but middle names are causing disagreements! Family won't be told until she is born.

How many weeks are most of you before you start decorating nursery? Part of me wants to start now (25 weeks) while I am still able to manoeuvre lol but then I'm worried its too soon and I should wait until 30 weeks? I'm not painting room just sorting furniture/ wall decals, need to sew black out lining into curtains, hang bunting and decide what else to do! I think there's a canopy for the cot aswell as mobile to go over changing unit

Never too soon, do what you can while you have time and while you're able. Also the preparation is nice, like a bonding experience. :)

Love the wall stickers Tooth, v similar to what I'm looking at :) I've got a smaller set of wall stickers (4 owls on a branch that cost 97p!) so I am going to see how I get on with those first!

Thanks everyone re: nursery decoration/ sorting. Baby will be in a Moses basket in our room but I moved our son into his own room when he was about 10 weeks. Suppose I could start deciding on room set out, start sewing curtains etc then wall stickers :) think I felt anxious about starting just incase anything happened :s realistically I think starting sooner will help as I have spd/ back issues, a toddler, I work, study and my DH works away for weeks at a time :(

We haven't bothered with a nursery, baby is going in with us for a minimum 6 months if not longer we had both of ds's in with us for over a year so don't see much point.

Names DS1 has OH dads name as his middle name, DS2 has my grandads. name as a middle name and DD will have OHs mums name as middle name all of which are deceased

Well last 2 days have been hard work we've been decorating living room and dining room, it's all finished now just the new TV to come tomorrow :) xx

A work colleague named his son Brian after his dad and they actually use it so Baby Brian. It sounds so weird as the only Brians I know are old men!

  • I'm easily confused so coming on here late to ask for some help.

What have you packed for the hospital?

I've looked online but so many sites vary of what they tell you to pack.

I'm 35 weeks on Monday and wanted to make a start on getting some bits and pieces tomorrow but don't want to be fooled into buying things I actually don't need.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Lol, that's my hubby's name!

Re pet names, I really wanted Lucy for our baby girl, but OH refuses as his brother used to have a dog called Lucy...said dog has prob been dead about 12 years, long before I even met DH, but he still won't entertain it!

DH would like to use a family name somewhere, but I'm not keen as I think you always end up offending someone, or someone feels left out..I'm named after both my grandma's, and DH has his mums maiden name as his middle name, but I don't see any reason why we should continue those traditions..especially as I'm not keen on either my mum's or MIL's names, and especially them combined!

I'd love a nursery to decorate, but we are renting at the moment, and the LL won't let us do very much :( just another reason to crack on with saving for a house deposit I suppose!

Still here, still pregnant! Good news is that the prostin has done something so it's looking likely that she will be born tomorrow :) bad news is that I have to keep this trace on the baby for another 15 mins and I'm bloody uncomfortable :rotfl:

    .

    1 towel
    2 nighties
    pads and pants
    toiletries
    thin cardigan/dressing gown
    pack nappies
    wipes
    2 sleepsuits/vests/cardies/hat
    small stuffed toy
    binbag for washing.

in a separate carrier .. 1 sleepsuit, vest, cardy, hat, 2 nappies and blanket. This is easily accessible so someone can dress the baby easily without rummaging through your bag.

I also took my kindle, puzzle book, bottle of juice and some snackage.

I stayed in 1 night and used hardly any of it... I easily had enough for 3 days.

  • Kscarlett - we've sort of got a nursery since last week but its pink, and i wont buy blue until babys born.i'm not that bothered though because i'm not wasting money when baby wont even b in there for a few months.do it when u feel ready, dh did ours i couldnt have done it all at the minute.

As for names - its looking likely that if its a boy he will have dh's grandads full name. The middle name is dh's first name and i'd wanted it whichever first name we used. We're down to two boys names, but its looking very likley.

Continualdiamond - i havent packed a bag yet..... But have started to have a think about what i need.

Still here..... but working on that!
