We are using Robert for our son's middle name. It was OH's grandads, dad's and his own middle name so once we knew it was a boy it seemed kind of inevitable that we have to use it. I don't particularly love it, but I know it means a lot to OH who's grandad passed away almost 2 years ago.
I don't think Vincent is too bad for a middle name. If it meant a lot to my DH i would go with it.0 -
I doesn't mean much to OH, but he's starting to come round to the idea annoyingly. he was closer to his other grandad who's middle name we are using as a first name. He was a lovely man but passed away last year. He would have loved to have seen his great grand child. Why is it the nice one always die young and the horrible sour puss' just keep going :rotfl:
His dads side of the family are the ones who only get in contact when they want something. Never to see how he/we are.
Oh well. The name game goes on.
Oh and the first name we are calling bubs is also the same name as my mums dog (one of them anyway) but the dog is called the nickname of the name so its not totally the same. I personally don't find it a problem. But I put my foot down on us ever having a boy called Dave so we called the dog that :rotfl:What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -
Nothing wrong with Vincent or Robert!
There's no family name traditions for us. DH is v against using a name that someone already has in the family so although it makes names more difficult it is nice to have new names in the family. I did want to use a relatives name as a middle name but DH was v against it so obviously there's still drawbacks. I think we've picked baby girls first name but middle names are causing disagreements! Family won't be told until she is born.
How many weeks are most of you before you start decorating nursery? Part of me wants to start now (25 weeks) while I am still able to manoeuvre lol but then I'm worried its too soon and I should wait until 30 weeks? I'm not painting room just sorting furniture/ wall decals, need to sew black out lining into curtains, hang bunting and decide what else to do! I think there's a canopy for the cot aswell as mobile to go over changing unitTrying to save for a deposit
4000/ 10000 saved so far..0 -

I'm not decorating until baby is here. The nursery is DS1s old room so if its a boy it can be left the colour it is, if its a girl I'll pick bedding and things afterwards. I've kept mine in our room with us for quite a while (8 months) so no rush.0 -
I would start now if you want to get sorted KScarlet. Saying that I am 31 weeks and have yet to get DH to build the chest of drawers. He has however manoeuvered some furniture around.
Just bought these wall stickers for the nursery. Can't wait to get them

I'm 29 weeks tomorrow and we've almost finished decorating as the furniture gets delivered the end of the month, we want everything sorted in plenty of time so that there's nothing to sort in the last few weeks. Bit different for us though as our bedroom isn't big enough to have baby in our room, she'll be in her own room from the start so it obviously all needs sortingAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0
-
KScarlett - I guess start whenever you can. I'm 33 weeks now and don't have a great deal of energy by the time I've finished work for the week.
If I could have started earlier I would but we've done a lot with the house and had various people in like plasterers, decorators, carpet fitters etc
Now I feel a bit rushed as I worry about the potential for baby to come early yet half the time I struggle to be ar5ed!0 -
I'm currently doing all the painting and decorating. Think we'll wait til after the birth to get the carpets fitted though so if my waters go they don't go on the brand new carpets :rotfl:What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

Re pets names, OH and I are having the same heated discussion! I love the name Henry for a boy but OH's dad and he both had dogs with that name and he thinks it will be confusing as to which we're referring to?! So the hairy deceased version or the tiny baby we created... Hmmm? He's compromising with Harry but I want Henry grrrr! X0
-
Harry was the most popular name in 2012 apparently. I bet this year it will be George. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0
