MV - you're tiny!!! Gonna get DH to do a due date pic for me later so will attempt to post that :)

I agree with your comment about how great it is to be here so much. Last summer was just awful, wouldn't have wished that on my worst enemy. Took such a long time to recover from too. I ended up having loads of counselling too to deal with the grief then to deal with the guilt that came with this pregnancy. Messy, horrible business.

But: due date today - eeeeeeeeeek!!! I still bet you'll go before me though MV xx
    Updating soon...
  • Ooh yes more piccies please ladies :D

I remember last year all too well Courgette :( It wasn't good for either of us, but I remember your posts and I am so so so glad that things worked out for you this time x

    HAPPY DUE DATE BTW!!!!!!!!

It'll be interesting to see if I do go first! Nothing happening at all at the moment (bar a few 'anxiety' dreams)

Thanks for the c section replies ladies. Betty hope you are well. I don't think they lower it the whole time, so you don't see them actually cut into you, just at the vital moment when baby is pulled out - if you want them to that is!
Last time I had emergency section and didn't really know what was going on down there (it is true that it feels like someone is doing the washing up in your tummy!) until suddenly there was this little cry and lots of congratulations from the docs. I think if there was a delay between baby coming out and the cry that would make me worry so maybe it's better not to be aware of the delay? I just remember last time everything happened in such a panic and I was on a hefty dose of mind altering diamorphine, so I wanted to experience the moment a bit more this time, but I guess there's a limit to how much you can do that with a c section. Ah well so long as baby comes out ok that's the main thing.

Question to all the C-section ladies - I've heard you can ask for the screen to be lowered when they pull out the baby so you can see it being born. Would you? Should I? I'm not particularly squeamish (once had to watch a hip operation as part of a job I was doing) but then again if it's me they're cutting in to maybe I'll feel differently!

I've been wondering this too but not sure what policy is. Have my consultant appointment in about 3 weeks to get my date so will be sure to ask.

Then again not sure how my body will react? I remember shaking a lot with DS1 but I'm not sure if this was due to labour or the section or a mixture of both (I remember oh asking midwife why I was shaking when I was having contractions before I went down for a section). Needed a spinal after DS2 and didn't shake at all so who knows??

For some reason I envisage a planned section being a case of whisking the baby out and that's that. I think I'm forgetting your body is still essentially going through labour and I will still feel like I've been hit by a bus afterwards!! Having said that I'm still really scared!
  • That does sound promising NA, I remember getting a very dodgy tum in the lead up to DS's birth.
