    Congrats pp, gorgeous baby :)

Congrats Oscar, what a lovely name :)

Had a lovely day yesterday shopping with my mum, got loads of vests and bodysuits from the sale in Primark so got 6 bodysuits and 28 vests for £18, and mum got a shape sorter that was reduced in m&s to just a fiver. Obviously wont be used for a while but it looked too good to resist!

More painting later, were slowly getting there, winegums room needs the edging finishing which MIL is coming up later to do for us (usually my job but didn't fancy going up the ladders) then the skirting board and window ledge need painting. Then we can put the new heater (we dont have gas) and lights in next weekend. well Dh can i dont have a clue lol. Main thing that's going to take us time is getting all the new doors upstairs painted and the door frames, they've had a couple of coats but they still need more with us using eggshell instead of gloss. Hoping MIL will do some on the doors/frames as well if I'm lucky being as Dh is at work. Can't believe I'm 28+1 its going so quick!

Katie - I think your oh is lucky to have you - I think I would not only lock him out but get the locks changed! Hope he sees sense soon!

  • Congrats Oscar :) such a lovely name.

Baby bean woke me up early this morning by heck its wiggly in there.
Heartburns calmed down a bit the last few days. Breathlessness not as bad thanks to the iron tablets. No constipation due to the fruit juice ive been drinking. However movements are an interesting colour (TMI sorry :( ).

Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

Lol MV - I agree! I can be ready to go anywhere in 30mins. Hubby can do the same.....but he likes to leave it until 10mins before we are due to leave. We're always late and people wrongly assume that because I don't leave the house without lippy on, it must be me. And, like yourself, I would've made sure 9yo had breakfast and was washed and dressed - he only has to worry about himself. My dad is the same and my mom always gets the blame too. Xx

  • I've never understood this man-thing about sitting on the toilet reading for hours, be it on a phone or a magazine etc.

I mean, !!!!!!??? Why would you spend more time in there than you needed to???

Personally I think it is a delaying tactic to get out of doing something useful!

Huge congratulations PigPen - she is absolutely gorgeous! And what a good weight for 4 weeks early. Hope you are both ok x

Hugs Katie. Men can be complete !!!!!!!s at times. I'm sure my hubby forgets I'm pregnant sometimes. I make him touch and talk to my belly loads just so that he doesn't forget :p

Bella - That Kato Twin looks a good price atm for brand new. No experience, but personally I'm not too keen on stroller type buggies for newborns. I know they lay flat but I do like a nice carrycot for newborns and a forward facing seat when they are out of the carrycot. Are there any others you are looking at? Some hold their price well and can sell well on eBay and the like when no longer needed. I ordered our double buggy today and plan on keeping it in good nick so that I can sell it on in a year or so and get most of my money back. I've been watching loads on eBay and mine seem to go for about £150 less than what I've just paid brand new.

Off to Kiddicare and Ikea tomorrow - should be fun! Hoping that Kiddicare have the space saver cot in store so I can buy and that's something else ticked off the list. Getting there slowly!

Nice weight PP... Robyn was 7lb on the nose at early 36 weeks and I felt such a fraud when they kept describing her as premature! (She's now a lump I've had to cut the feet off 6-9 month babygros on and she's not even turned 5 months. Congrats!

I have the M+P Kato double. To be honest I wouldn't recommend it for a newborn, if you're after that style and can find one - get one of the Cosatto ones instead (I've had both - the colour of the Cosatto annoyed me and it's at my mums at the moment but it's by far the better buggy). I'll try to explain the problem as well as I can and if needs be I'll try to snag a photo of it on my phone later on if I have to. The issue I have with it is to do with the recline and seat backs. The Cosatto one has kind of expandy metal trellis work supporting the back which makes it hold its shape properly, but the M+P one has one of those slide toggle recline things and relies on that to hold the seat back - meaning it gets very "hammocky" if you get what I mean, it dips and follows the curve of the recline toggle slider. Plus the side bits of fabric that are there to allow the seat to recline flip forward and get in the child's face when you have it sat up unless you wedge them down the side which gets annoying quick. And if you've got a toddler who likes to lean forward, the fact the seat fabric's not really attached well to the recliney bit means they can rock right forward in their seat as well.

Ours does the job it's bought for as a small buggy to keep in the car boot and be able to fit two dogs in there as well, but I wouldn't want to be using it full-time as a main buggy and I wouldn't have wanted to use it for a newborn. I did use the Cosatto occasionally and for that type of buggy it was much better built - it was just bright pink because I'd got it second hand and the choice was limited and the twee slogans annoyed me a bit.

Currently I have the M+P Kato for in the car, and a Nipper 360 - love the Nipper - I've got the older wide one, which is 1cm wider than the M+P one, but the newer models are narrower. Have a Phil and Teds I'm hanging onto just in case I need to get on buses or go somewhere really quaint with narrow shop doorways (but I'm dithering about selling it to be honest) - but I'd never recommend one of them till you've got the baby to about the 5-6 month point, they're fine with a newborn but when the newborn mode's outgrown they really are crud for a couple of months. Got a really really old model Nipper I bought dead cheap which inspired me to buy the newer one that I need to get round to selling and I've just sold a B-dual which was just way way too heavy when they discontinued our local bus service. And the Cosatto pink buggy of shame that I leave at my mums so I don't have to pack a pushchair when we go to stay there.

  • congratulations Oscar! beautiful name :) hope the breast feeding gets better soon.
  • MV - yes what is that all about? Why do they need to be so long? Surely you either need to go, or you don't?? I've asked hubby why it takes so long and have never got an answer that makes any sense to me. I've banned him from numbers 2's upstairs as us 3 girlies can't get in to shower whilst he's in there for at least half an hour. However, our youngest (9yo) and very much like her daddy, also spends a good 15mins on the loo but she has had IBS from birth so I'm much more forgiving lol.

  • Lol, I thought it was just my DH that takes ages to get ready! I've another that disappears into the bathroom for half an hour at a time. He also tends to go through loads more products than me too - he can use two bottles of shower gel in the time it takes me to use one! He also faffs about whenever we have to go anywhere - needs to double check all the doors are locked and the windows are shut, make sure all the living room furniture has blankets on in case the dog gets up on it - it drives me insane and he has been well warned he is not to carry on like that when I go into labour or I will drive myself to the hospital! His whole family are the same though, we had some visiting yesterday and it took them 20 minutes to get the car off the drive when they were leaving!

    Congrats Pigpen and Oscar!

Big hugs Katie, men are useless sometimes!

He sounds a little bit OCD!

My DH only takes about 10 mins in the shower, but he needs to sit on the toilet for about 30 mins before he gets in the shower and then when he's out of the shower he lounges around in his towels <AIR DRYING!!!!> !!!!!!!

He is also thinks that changing bag fairies live in our house who refill the bag with wipes, nappies, clean clothes and muslins!!!

Congrats PP and Oscar on the birth of your little girls!!!

Well I hope everyone is ok today. I'm pretty lethargic. Babysat for my niece and nephew last night. Niece went to bed at 7 but not nephew whose 5. Instead we shared a Happy Meal when he was supposed to be in bed at 8. Then watched Harry Potter which scared him, then put him to bed at 10pm. I told my brother what we'd done and he laughed and said I better not tell his mum...pretty sure my nephew will have done by now though! When it's not your child though it's easier said than done to enforce any sort of routine...I'm there for fun not telling him off and he wasn't tired! I did put my foot down at having coca cola before bed though so I'm not the worse but I feel a bit like I've done a bad job! I never get asked...hmmmm.

Sorry to those having OH issues..especially Katie! I'd be so peed off! Luckily mine is absolutely obsessed with getting house in order so he's really cracked on, telling me today that his deadline for completion is 1st September (baby due on 2nd October). Having a lazy day today though as he went out last night..not late but think he ate too much curry!

He's annoyed me a bit though as my sister who is really arty and creative offered to paint some bluebirds on baby's wall and he doesn't want them so it's a difference of opinion. Apparently if I want them I paint over them when 'they rapidly become too babyish'! Not really down with that at all!

And bang goes our lazy day....he's just come down in his painting outfit which means I really ought to get up and crack on too! See it's great in some ways but not when I want a lazy day and feel guilty letting him just do EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
