  • Congratulations Oscar - Lovely name and weight :)

Bella - yes, best to try out first. I tried mine out in JL and DD loved it - didn't think she would as she can be quite fussy with buggies! I don't like the ones where the baby is really low either - so close to the ground and can't see much!

Sat on my bed chewing on a Rennies tablet Toothfairy ;-) This baby is relentless- such a poor nights sleep last night- belly jumping all over the place.
Congratulations Pigpen and Oscar. Pigpen- lovely pic, would never know she was early. Oscar you picked our favourite girls' names. We were team yellow with our first son and Eleanor was DH's favourite, Grace was mine. So hard to decide on a boys name again :p
Katie make sure OH is in no doubt how you feel. DH got very drunk just before Christmas, when I was 4 months pregnant with our first. That evening it snowed heavily. He fell asleep on a train. Didn't know where he was so just walked til he saw a landmark he recognised then rang me to rescue him. Had to get dressed, clear several inches of snow off car, deice windscreen then drive on fresh snow to go find him before he died of hypothermia in the middle of nowhere on his own. They'd go ballistic if we were that stupid.

  • Congratulations pigpen & oscar.

Up early as woke up needing the toilet and then baby was like 'ooo party time', so have a very wriggly baby at the moment so decided to get up.

Partly also wide awake as have that horrible after relatives visit what to do with yourself feeling.

1st baby for us, 1st grandchild for my parents, 1st great grandchild on my mums side but = me being extremely far away from all my family. Have just spent 3 days catching up with my aunty/uncle that i haven't seen for 6 years.

Whilst its been tiring as been out for such long days when you suddenly have to say goodbye & everything goes quite its like well what do i do now.....

They really spoilt us as well, buying us our tea when out twice, treats etc & then bought us the starlite swing from mamas/papas yesterday. My aunty was looking forward to baby shopping with us but i thought more along the lines of clothes, blankets she'd be thinking of. It wasn't until she was like right, you've got your nursery furniture, pram and travel cot that doesn't leave many other bigger items i can think to get you......we then didn't know what to get or what price range to stick within.

Think I'm going to find not having my mum around harder than i thought nearing my due date & those 1st few weeks after having the baby. Im not that close to my mother in law, shes not the catching up type as in just her and i, i always see her with my hubby. Which is fine cos she is a nice person and we get along but i wont be calling her up for advice and wouldn't want her around here if she offered to help, though i know she wouldn't as that just isn't her.

Right, off to look at flights to Australia for xmas, think i might need to do lotto as well though so i can fund the holiday, lol. But it would be amazing to have xmas at home, 1st in 10 years & baby's 1st xmas as well.

  • Congrats to pigpen and oscar!!!

Wide awake at stupid o'clock again!!! My own fault.... Went to lie down at lunchtime yesterday.... Woke up 4 hrs later... Whoops!!!!

Got all the baby stuff out last night... Had to find it all in the back room still full of stuff we haven't unpacked yet!!! But I am still missing the baby monitor... Will have send Oh in to find!!! Sorted all the stuff ready to be washed... But oh hasn't started room yet, so no where to put it!!! Don't men realise they don't have to do much get us knocked up and paint the nursery... And maybe realise they can't leave till the due date... As guess what the baby could come early!!!

Ps. I haven't packed my hospital yet, so I am as bad. It's in pile in the corner of the bedroom!!!

  • Continualdiamond in a similar situation to you!!! This is my first, first grandchild and great gran child on my side!!!! My dad really does seem to be a waste of the space at the mo.... Decided he will be abroad for the birth of his first grandchild but will be back 8 weeks later for my sisters birth... Nice!!! My mum love her to bits.... But my other sister is handicapped so needs 24 hr care. She gets respite once a week... So I know she won't be to help me at the birth and for the first few weeks and lives 2 hours away!!!! MIL.... Wouldn't say we don't get on but I would never ask her for anything and she has not offered to buy anything for the baby!!! When we told her I was pregnant, the response was 'I thought my grandma days were over'!!! But I am the sort of person who gets on with it and never asks for help... So I am happy to continue that.... But do wish my mum could be here!!!

I am of the belief millions of people have given birth before.... It's hard but they all coped and so will I!!!

Not just me that had a sh1tty nights sleep then! Have caught DS's cold so sore throat/blocked sinuses etc. OH snored like a monkey all night and baby decided to have a party in the early hours too. Exhausted.

Thank god OH is taking DS to softplay this morning.

    Congratulations Pigpen and Oscar!!!
  • Grr..man-rant warning!

Is it just mine or is a common phenomena that women take ages to get ready to go anywhere and men don't??
OH takes AGES in the bathroom..I mean seriously, partly due to this male compulsion to sit on the toilet on his phone on FB or some other waste of time thing.

So I basically rush about getting everything ready for DS to go to softplay - breakfast/clear up, get DS dressed/brush his teeth, organise the bag for OH to take, so snacks/nappies/wipes etc..all in the time OH has taken to put some product in his hair, fanny about in the bathroom and get himself dressed!

Phew..sorry..just cracks me up when men bang on about how long it takes women to get ready. I'm literally 10 mins max in the bathroom - shower, teeth, dressed, done!

Anyway..they've gone now and blissful silence has descended so I'm going back to bed! :D
