lovely bargains welsh_cosmic! OH says I have too many baby clothes - because I think I have enough. Baby is pretty wriggly now. I seem to be getting 3 jabs in quick succession. No pattern to bubba's movements that I can recognise really. does anyone else feel like baby kicks them in the noo-noo? 31+6
Yes- and frequently I feel like the baby has a big stretch making me feel a need to go to loo and also squishes my stomach up.

I'm 27 and this is my first and I don't feel much better than the rest of you! I'm always hungry at the minute too, I thought it may be due to boredom now that I'm 1 week into maternity leave. Still got sooo much to do in the house, I feel like today I'll have enough energy to get cracking with it!

My dog isn't well, and as we don't have a garden I have to be on standby constantly for his 'I need to go NOW' dance which he's doing every few hours and take him for a walk! So between cleaning up after him and washing his bum I feel I'm getting lots of pooey nappy practice :)

Got a bit stressed out last night when DH told me off for lounging on the sofa and he basically said that its my fault the baby is back to back. I'd been sitting on my ball and walking the dog all day so it was bloody cheeky, but also annoying that he thinks I actually have any control over the baby's position. Combined with the usual pregnancy comments I'm always getting I'm super annoyed and peed off! (Such as when friends with kids do the 'just you wait' talk or speak to me as though I haven't realised there's a baby inside me and I'll have 'a shock' when she arrives). Hormones I think :)

    Anyway, 36+4 for me

PS good luck for today pp

I hated the patronising "Just you wait" comments when I was expecting DS. Do people think you have no idea that life will change. I am a teacher and also have spent many weeks and weekends in charge of groups of kids on cadet camps where we are on duty 24 hours a day and keep them busy from 7am to 9pm wiyh constant activity. And so it would infuriate me when people who supposedly knew me said stuff like that. So patronising!

Thinking of you today PP... good luck :) struggling with eating myself. ..wondering if anyone else is getting super full super quickly? I've been having complan or smoothies instead of food or I feel too bloated and sore. Last night I thought I was going into labour I was in so much pain in my tummy. OH thinks it's because I had a can of pop before bed and the fizz gave me trapped wind but it was kind of different to that. ..the pain was up my side. Anyway feel ok this morning other than being a bit bloated and tender :)
Noticed this at the end with DS. Remember going out for an Indian with DH. We ate poppadoms and an onion bhaji each then I was stuffed so we asked for mains and naan bread to be put in doggy bag. Was our tea the next two nights lol.

Try not to beat yourself up MV. It's my first baby and I am constantly wondering how people with a young child to look after could possibly manage as I don't feel I would be able to! It's not forever, and you're trying to do something which is very difficult.

I had an email from pink lining to say they've got 50% off selected changing bags. They're not my style but I believe they're very highly rated:

Yay, a couple of my friends (met at Surestart baby groups) had these and they are great. Have secretly coveted one for a while. Used free Boots one with DS ( still using it now- just fits a potty in ;) ) as the Silvercross one to match pram didn't have insulated bottle pouch. Now just have to choose which one. Is it acceptable to have a pink one with two boys? Pram is cream/ beige and buggy is blue. Part of me feels a need for pink since I'm going to be surrounded by boy stuff. I had three brothers and had the same feelings at home as a child. My Dad was keen not to gender stereotype, I wasn't allowed a toy kitchen etc but I spent all my time in dresses, playing with dolls and singing "Daisy, Daisy" haha.

    Hi KScarlet!

The muslins you linked to reminded me I saw this yesterday:
    http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Muslin-Cloths---6-Pack/498561,default,pd.html#q=muslin
Multicolour, 6 for £10 in the sale

They are lovely :) I really like the different colours! x

Fluffy : I had a very bright flowery pink lining bag for my son, I loved it and it never bothered me that it was a girly bag as it was more for me than him (well his things in it but I was carrying it!) I also have a couple of smaller ones (mum on the run and mini) they are fab too really good quality and I always get lovely comments. Part of me is tempted to get one of the sale bags for baby girl but it seems silly when I have bags already! x

Can I ask a potentially stupid question? What's the insulated pocket for bottles actually for? Is it to keep bottles warm or to keep them cold???

Claree hope you get seen soon, theh always keep you waiting at hospital and it is always irritating cos all you want to do is get out of there as quick as poss.

MV have you tried local libraries? DS and I were at Storytime yesterday, couple of stories then they colour in a picture. And Bounce and Rhyme today ( singing nursery rhymes with lots of actions) both sessions are for under 3s, DS loves it and they have jigsaws, a play tent etc in the childrens area for afterwards. Then we read a couple of books and choose a couple to take home. Best thing is I get a chair and sit the whole time. Take the potty in the loos as DS will sit on it and do a wee as I have one lol.
Re: potty training, if he's not ready it'll be a long stressful process. With DS we have had a potty out for a while and always said if you do a wee-wee in tge potty you can have a sweetie. He tried sometimes but couldn't do it. Recently with warm weather we rolled up rug (laminate floors) and have wherever possible, in garden, our house and at beach we let him go bare bottomed. No mention of potty we jyst wanted him to notice when he was dojng a wee so he recognised the feeling. Anyway on return from our week away (lots of time on beach) he noticed a pack of pull ups. I said they are for big boys who use a potty. We took pants off. He tried, no joy, walked away, tried again twice with no encouragement from us and the third attempt was a source of great excitement for him. "yay- me do a wee-wee in a potty!". First two days he got 2 sweeties each time and lots of praise. After that just praise. From the second day he would ask for potty if he had pants and pull up on- he still can't pull them down on his own. But if bare bottomed he does it on his own. He has shown off his potty skills to all the relatives lol. Been very easy but it was him that decided he wanted to do it. Do think all the time without a nappy or pants helped tho- and we noticed after being surprised by a few wees he was holding it in til we put a nappy on ;)

Hi all, I hope you don't mind me joining you :) I am 24 weeks today and the time is flying by. I am expecting baby #2 who is a girl (if the scan is correct!). I already have a 3 year old son who is lovely (but very demanding and knows EVERYTHING!)

I haven't fully caught up yet but I am also v anxious about having a toddler and a newborn. My son has been very demanding since birth so I am worried if I will be able to divide my attention. My DH also works away most of the time so I will be on my own (no support from family really).

With my son I searched all over for the most reasonable muslin squares thinking we wouldn't really use them but they were a godsend and my son still uses them now to comfort himself. He had a variety of designs so I've bought these slightly un MSE muslins http://www.amazon.co.uk/Faye-Lou-Rainbow-Muslins-Pack/dp/B005KLEGFY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376044175&sr=8-1&keywords=faye+and+lou as they are completely different to my sons so hopefully he wont keep nabbing his sisters!

Looking forward to getting to know you all xx

Lovely to see you here chick :D

Either ;) You're supposed to make bottles as you go now but when you're going out thats very difficult. So I would make one and take it with me, so I wasn't stuck at home waiting for him to feed. Tbh I used to make 4 bottles at a time, put them in cold water to cool quickly, then put them in the fridge. So all I needed to do was warm one up when I needed it. You have to let kettle cool for 20 minutes before you pour if into bottles and add formula. Then of course it is still too hot for baby for perhaps another 20 minutes. Doing this in the middle of the night with a baby crying for a feed to me was just unrealistic. So I made bottles twice a day. DS never suffered with upset tum, my friends daughter ( she made bottles as she went along) seems to always have diarrhoea. So I will probably do the same again.

Expressed milk is a little different. If it is freshly expressed they say on a cool day it is fine out for up to 6 hours. If it has been refridgerated then 2 hours I think. Frozen milk will be fine for hours as it will need to defrost before it can be used.
