Yumyums, like the others said it depends on your relationship with your Mum. Personally I'd appreciate the company before baby is born as its a bit boring with all the waiting around. That said I'd also appreciate space for a few days at least once baby arrives, but I know everyone is different. It'd probably be nice to have her there once DH goes back to work too. What would she prefer?0

I think from my own personal experience I'd go for the company after OH has gone back to work. I found those first few days really scary and daunting, and would have loved to have my mum about for moral support.
My OH's parents are coming down when I go into labour to look after DS, and so they will still be here when we get back from hospital with the new baby. I know it's going to be tough evicting m-i-l, but I have made OH tell her explicitly that she can stay for one day/night when we get back and then they can go again.
The thought of having them knocking about in our maisonette whilst I am trying to look after/feed a newborn, plus a toddler running about is too much.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
I wouldn't feel comfortable having my MIL in the house, I always feel like she is judging me and my parenting choices. She is very opinionated about my choices and keeps doing things which she knows annoy me as she keeps trying to justify herself!!
I think it would probably be best if she came over towards the end of your OH's paternity leave. It obviously depends on your OH, if they get on really well maybe she can come earlier, but I think the first week or so should be family bonding. My DH tried to say yah a fortnight off I can go and play golf!!! If looks could kill!!Got married 13/11/10

Hugs MV - you are doing a fabby job. It's hard work running after a toddler. DD and I stayed in today and she was relentless. And we seemed to have dropped our nap at the moment, but nevermind, at least I can get her in bed before 7pm - so every cloud and all that! We potty trained a few weeks ago and the first 2 days - nothing went in the potty but then it just clicked. We went straight to knickers - only use pull ups at bedtime. But my nephew who is older (jan baby like your DS) isn't interested - so he just isn't ready. I think there is probably some truth in girls being ready before boys. Also, I think having Peppa Pig knickers helped a lot!
I'm hoping to order my double buggy in the next few days. The cheapest I can find it is about £200 less than JL, Mothercare etc so don't think I can get a better deal. Just need to break it to DH. I figure if I pay for it now with his CC, then he won't have to pay the bill until September. And baby is due in Oct, and he's got to pay for it at some point!0 -
Oh and I hope everything has gone well with PigPen. Looking forward to the birth announcement! x0

Thanks Miffy. Today was a very lonnnnnng day!
OH is going to take DS to a softplay place on Sunday morning that he can hurl himself about for a couple of hours and I can have some much needed R&R
Congrats on getting the potty training licked! From what I've seen with friends toddlers, it does seem girls get the hang of things quicker and are keener to lose the nappies before the boys. I'm not going to stress about it. I think if you push it, it just takes longer. As you said with your DD, it just suddenly 'clicked' so she was clearly ready
Wonder if PP's baby is here yet?Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
It's scary that PPs due date is either the same as mine or a couple of days after. Makes mine feel very real! Hope everything's going well for her.0

When was her EDD? I want to know if she's had a boy or girl! hope she is ok.
MV - The wonders of softplay!! Hope you get a couple of hours rest. We have a gym fun place nearby and DD loves it. Full of bouncy castles, trampolines, big bouncy balls and the like. I try and take her once a week - can't manage it more often - it's knackering!!0 -
Well mine is 2nd Sept and I'm pretty sure I remember her being a couple of days after me. So she should be around 36-37 weeks by now0

Yes I ordered the pink Blooming gorgeous one! I am very excited, not really an impulse buy as I told myself a while back that if I saw one I genuinely liked under £50 I would buy it. And this brand was my favourite. And loved this one.
