I've just found a website that sells butter muslin fabric, I'm now trying to work out how many metres I'd need for the amount of muslins I'd require. How many do you need?Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Is it worth buying a breast pump before bean arrives? I would like to breast feed but also once established express so that hubby can feed bubs & for when i go out (not sure how i will be with breastfeeding in public!)

I got a Medela swing at the baby show at Earl's court, they were doing a whole set including a food warmer, a couple of bottles, the calma teats and the pump- can't remember how much it was, but it was definitely cheaper as a bundle. I used it all in the end.
It all depends if you manage to breastfeed successfully. There are quite a few being sold second hand as people struggle to feed and just convert to formula. It's a difficult thing to say yes or no to.
I found it a faff and stopped expressing as she was feeding too often to express at first. It was only when she was a bit older that I managed to express a decent amount as I was due to go back to work.
It's daunting feeding out at first, I used to go and feed in the baby changing rooms or places like Mothercare/ John Lewis/ Boots as they all have baby feeding rooms, but then I just thought sod it and began feeding in public. It helped that I went to a breastfeeding group where everyone was feeding. One of the women I am friends with she sat there at one point with both breasts out so I thought why am I being so prudish!
I don't think anyone can say yes or no so it's all down to whether you can afford one and how determined you are, but I found it handy to have one especially if you see one on offer.Got married 13/11/10

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. Good luck to everyone who is about to go into labour!
I have to hand in my maternity leave forms this week. Just wondering how long to leave starting my maternity leave. I work in a school and thought about starting it on the first Monday back after October half term. This would see that I finish 3 1/2 weeks before my due date. Is this enough/ too soon? Opinions appreciated please.
I work in a school as well and technically will finish 2 weeks and 3 days before my due date. I am only going back for 2 days in September, just doing training days so the students don't have a quick change of staff as did debate whether I did the 1st full week.
Of course it is a bonus being off for the summer holidays before hand though. A teacher at my school is not finishing work until the 27th September and she is due the 8th October.
So everyone has a completely different idea on what is right for them.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -

Bean is awfully hiccupy - is that normal? I reckon there are about 3 episodes a day & last for a good 5mins (or even more) - considering bean is head down - the rythmic pulsing is quite strange - weird sensation!

I get him hicupping all the time, its fine unless its constant! He does a few times a day sometimes 10 mins a time, funny sometimes!
And i've got a breast pump as was £15 manual pump on offer with bounty offers (I always keep an eye on them!) from MAMUK, Free delivery too! So at least if i struggle and it doesn't get much use, i haven't lost out too much.0 -
Popping by as I am home alone and nothing else to do .. I'm still alive.. mostly.

Still no names even discussed
Hospital bag sorted finally and everything washed and in the correct places.
I am a grand old shirty strop with OH so barely even speaking to him at the moment. He has upset me big time this time and he won't be allowed to forget in a hurry. Essentially he publicly humiliated me with his FB status and I'm not impressed.. he has all his friends and family on there and I have to see them all too!
