Katielouise - depends what hobbies you have I suppose. I know
Ill have loads of programmes recorded on the sky box that I can finally get round to watching, but also I want to cross stitch a Christmas stocking for winegum as I did one for each of my nephews so only fair that my own daughter gets one too! It'll take me at least 70 hours to sew then got to get my mum to do the sewing machine part to make it into the actual stocking in time for this years Christmas
No hobbys to speak of, so need to find some! I'm trying to avoid my backlog of sky+ for a few days as have spent a lot of time on here!
May start a crafty type hobby, make some christmas presents, baby will have a 6 week old cousin at xmas so i'll have 2 of everything to make!
Have tried knitting and failed miserably... what other suggestions do people have crafts-wise? xx0 -
Re. Hospital bag, I've started mine but plan on adding to it over the next few weeks so I doubt it'll be ready to go in the car for a while! I've quite enjoyed buying all the 'unglamorous' necessities though, like pads, creams, etc.
Re. Muslins, I'm trying to find them as cheap as poss since they just get vomited on, no point paying out for fancy pretty ones! Best I found so far was a pack of 6 for just over £6 free delivery on Amazon. But places like Supermarkets and Matalan might do them cheap too. I don't want to pay more than £1 per muslin ideally!
Just got another Aptaclub freebie - a little bottle of mum-to-be bubble bath arrived in the post today! already got the polar bear toy too.0 -
How far are you Poppy? I had a scare this weekend, no bag to mention and im now 34+2! That hospital bag is nearly complete now - don't leave it to the OH, you get pair of size 12 'pull in' pants as underwear! Lesson learnt now...
Let me know where else you find muslins from that are cheaper, they're one of the only things i've not found with a bit of a discount, or had the nerve to try and blag for free.. (however have blagged breast pads, stretch mark creams and even a bottle!)0 -
I bought some cute monkey ones from Sainsburys. 5 cloths for £6 and loads of different designs. Some are reeeeally cute.
Why not try Crocheting katielouisej? Much easier than knitting I found. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -
I collected my Bounty pack from Asda as it said online there was something different in it if you collect from there. The something different was a pack of 3 Asda muslin's. Need to get some more now though as they seem to come in very useful, although I don't remember using them with DD who is now 10..
I'm trying to learn to crochet! I've successfully made a 'chain' and that's as far as I've got!

Ooh well done, how'd you manage to blag all that?!
I'm 29+3 and figured OH would not fancy an emergency trip to Boots coupled with running round trying to find suitable pants, nightie etc, so thought I'd get started on the hospital bag nice and early on! hope you are ok after your scare
these are the muslins I bought: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00CI6RZJS/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 £6.49 for 6.
At the mo mothercare is doing 12 for £14.99 and Kiddicare's are 6 for £7.99.
I am going to keep an eye out for sales and offers on them, as more than £1 a cloth gets on my nerves! :money:0 -

I just emailed a few companies of interest and asked for a sample! tommee tippee sent me a pack of 50 breast pads, was shocked! They've just had a very nice email of thanks back! Worth having a look, also check out the freebie sites and forums on here, and signed up for all the baby clubs ever set up, requested weaning guides as they were free, no harm in having them now i guess...
I'm okay now he's stopped the great escape, went to midwife appointment today she said he seems fine still, just tired himself out, bless him. As helpful as he was, I wouldn't trust the OH with the hospital bag again, told him to get some clothes for the baby and got a 3 - 6 month baby grow... gotta love him!
I'll be looking to and will let you know, i've got 6 muslin squares so far but from what i've heard it's just not enough, need at least 20 of them.
And is crocheting hard? Someones done a crochet shawl for me and it's soooo cute, would love to be able to do that! (mums done the knitting, counted 7 cardigans, 3 sets of mittens, booties and hats!)0 -
RE: Muslins - what about used ones from eBay etc.?
I got some from Asda the other day 3 for £3.50
RE: hobby - i agree with the crocheting - i love it & much easier than knitting - if not what about x-stitch? Or quilting? Or card making?
Or completely random - a colouring in book? or painting?
I would suggest spinning - but you would have to get used to knitting or crocheting first so you can actually use up what you spin! (I have lots of wool ready to spin when im on maternity leave!)
Bean is awfully hiccupy - is that normal? I reckon there are about 3 episodes a day & last for a good 5mins (or even more) - considering bean is head down - the rythmic pulsing is quite strange - weird sensation!
Is it worth buying a breast pump before bean arrives? I would like to breast feed but also once established express so that hubby can feed bubs & for when i go out (not sure how i will be with breastfeeding in public!)

Tip for all those looking for cheap muslin cloths - google muslin nappy squares, I'm finding loads of real nappy sites selling them, 12 for less than £10 in most cases - just trying to find one that doesn't charge a fortune for delivery to the north of Scotland now!0
