Just a quick question. I've commenced packing my hospital bag. I do have a massive weekend bag but it's pretty full with my nighties, knickers, pads, nappies, baby wipes and toiletries...

So, what are you all using for your hospital bags...I feel like I need to get my wheelie suitcase out!

I took a weekend bag with all the things in the last two times, but this time I think I am going to pack mine and baby's things separately, as I found it a pain rummaging through all my things every time I needed to change baby and vice versa.

Will hopefully be easier this time as I can set up my station so to speak beforehand (elective section)!

Thanks Bangton; it's pretty cr*p really isn't it. Your midwife sounds exactly like mine!! The one week I had another one was great; she gave me loads of info about the aquanatal in the area and drop in antenatal clinic etc but this was before the measuring got underway unfortunately. I was so suprised the usual m/w didn't make a note of it; not even on the growth chart and as for not weighing me, I was really suprised by that but I notice yours has been the same! Hey ho, as you say as long as baby is fine and kicking away happily that's the main thing :) And I am EXACTLY the same in sainsburys! Trollies are the new pg peoples zimmers!! OH definitely thinks I'm being dramatic!

Welcome iceicebaby love the username, I've got the song in my head now :D

Oh and Bangton I am going to take my hand luggage suitcase I think (like a mini wheelie suitcase) I am hoping it will be big enough but I think OH might take a holdall too so I can always steal some of his space!! Just ordered some more breast pads but still need to get a load of stuff yet before I start packing properly; got 10 weeks yet (hopefully!).

Take care ladies hope everything is going well for Oscar

I am using a small wheelie suitcase! I used it last time and it did the job just fine, much easier to pull that about than lugging a shoulder bag about, and you do end up taking a fair bit of stuff in with you.

Welcome back ice  congrats on baby no 2! :)

So I had a bit of a meltdown earlier. DS was up all night, he has a really nasty hacking cough, fever and is very under the weather. We had to take him to the out of hours Dr today, he was so distressed :(

Got OH's parents coming down tomorrow to help me out a bit as I have just started Mat Leave and typically DS's nursery is shut for the summer hols for the next 2 weeks,a nd my childminder is also on holiday this week, so no childcare..just when I really could use a bit of quiet time pre-newborn

And whilst I am grateful that they are coming, I also don't really want them here. Our place isn't very big, and they just get under my feet. I'm being horible I know, but I just crave a bit of solitude.

They also keep bringing 'stuff' down with them..stuff for us, stuff for DS, stuff for the baby, most of it stuff we don't actually need, and my flat is bursting with 'stuff'. I clear a load out, and they bring a load more!

OH said he'd speak to his mum today and ask them not to bring anything but themselves, but they are still bringing 'stuff'..he just isn't fiem enough with them.

So I lost it, had a massive meltdown (which DS saw :( ) I'm feeling ok now, think I just needed to get it out.

Bump uncomfortable and bladder hurting too..grrr...sorry for the moan.

I used my big weekend bag thing for my stuff last time and packed the baby's stuff in the baby's changing bag. Not ideal as it meant lugging 2 bags. Going to look for something !!!!!! this time and just take 1

For my son I had a huuuuge holdall, massive thing, but I knew I'd be in for a few days due to pre existing medical condition.

*sigh* and so it begins, DS has started hacking and coughing again, woken himself up and got really upset, so we have to get him out of bed and sit with him till he calms down.

I can see this happening all through the night tonight. I feel really sorry for DS, he looks so pitiful, and I also feel sorry for OH and I as we are both shattered :(

Poor all of you MV. Could you and DH take it in shifts? Doesn't need two of you sat up with him.

Hope the IL visit is okay too. I know exactly what you mean as I feel the same when my mum comes to stay. Feel totally taken over and she always brings stuff with her too.

girlzmum your young man is beautiful, an absolute stunner!

AFM DH has been an absolute superstar this evening and done my toenails and given my legs a really thorough defuzz. Love is... :D

Weirdly as well given that I'm usually a 42 weeker I'm definitely starting to feel different, almost like birth won't be so far away after all. Eek!

Have knitted my little chap a new born sized hat this afternoon - can't decide if it looks tiny or massive!:rotfl:

Sorry to hear things aren't great at the minute MV. I agree could you take it in shifts so to speak, that is what OH and I do when DS is ill (providing he isn't working) that way we both manage to get a couple of hours sleep.
Still not great, but better than nothing!

I know what you mean about people getting under your feet. MIL really wants to come and help me sort the spare room out, and whilst I appreciate she is just being nice and wanting to help, I would much rather just get on with it myself.

  • Thanks courgette. My OH has been a star too and said he will take the monitor this evening and sleep on the sofabed so that I can get a better nights sleep. I'm feeling a bit delirious. Don't know about you but I am up and down to the toilet about 5 times a night at the moment, haven't slept a full night for weeks.

Exciting that you are feeling different, maybe DS no 3 will buck the trend and come a bit early or on time! :)
