Congratulations Girlzmum! He so handsome! Lovely name too; both on my list for a boy

Hi Ladies; not posted for a while and feel guilty but I don't normally have much to say and usually am on my phone! I always keep updated though.......

Just a quick question about midwives; is anyone elses a bit....disinterested? Mine is polite enough though I wouldn'tcall her friendly or chatty. She doesn't offer any information- I had to ask about the whooping cough jab and she has never even mentioned the exemption certificate for prescriptions/dental.

Being my first I don't know if this is normal and whether I should be a bit more pushy? It's just not my nature to be. Last appointment at 28 weeks she measured my bump for the first time but said nothing about whether it was good or bad; she didn't even write it down! She hasn't weighed me either since booking in.......I have my 31 week appt on Friday, any advice would be much apprecited!!

Also another quick question (sorry!). I'm 30 + 2 and really starting to struggle with my back/hips/pelvis if I do any amount of walking (i.e. around sainsburys for an hour) does that sound reasonable or something else I should mentioned to the midwife? It just starts to hurt/ache so I need to rest for an hour or so when I get home....

Thanks in advance for your help ladies; hope everyone is having a good weekend xx

She should be telling you more, it's your first child you don't know all the ins and outs, especially if you weren't doing any research yourself. Also she should be telling you that things are going well, that you are measuring bang on or a cm or two either side. My mw is very friendly and always asks if I have any other questions, she's busy, but will make chit chat. She should definitely be telling you about jabs, like I said it's your first child and you might not know about things like that.

It sounds like you might be over doing it slightly, also could be mild spd as I've heard a lot of ladies say walking around the supermarket means they are in pain. I'd say take it easier, could do internet shop instead?

Thanks Lola; I thought I wasn't being unreasonable! I will definitely have to start asking her more at the next appointment - I'll get a list of questions ready!! I understand that she is busy but I usually have the first appointment of the morning and always arrive early so it's not like she is running behind or anything! Luckily I have been doing a lot of reading up but without the internet I would be clueless and probably terrified so I'm starting to think I've got a reason to be unhappy with the care I'm receiving.

Was suspecting I was overdoing it a bit; might try an internet shop - hadn't thought of that thank you!! :D

Hi everyone, long time ex poster but not been on in a while .

    I'm 21+6 with boy no 2 due 9 December .

I had pre eclampsia with ds1 so I'm on pre eclampsia watch under a consultant throughout this pregnancy.

Also I'm an "older" mother at almost 40.

I recognise metranil vavin from my days on the pg thread with ds1.

    So hello everyone!

Awww Girlzmum..he is just utterly gorgeous! So pleased for you and well done! Hope your feeling ok too!! Thanks for posting a pic, it's actually really nice to see people's babies.

I'm 32 weeks pregnant but don't really always register it's a live baby in there!!

Had a random but absolutely amazing burst of energy today. Like Hopelass I normally have major back ache after 30 mins in Sainsburys (I think my partner thinks I'm trying it on because it's worse than anything in Sainsburys - I'm not though!) I have to push trolley to have something to lean on much to my partner's disdain as he feels a bit of a k***head having his fairly heavily pregnant partner pushing the trolley! I keep feeling a hand coming over trying to take it off me but it's like a zimmer frame..I need it!

Anyway, this random burst of energy has been awesome! I've actually cleaned for the first time in 3 weeks and spent 4 hours doing it! Then I've boxed up baby things as they have to come out of the nursery while we have new carpets fitted upstairs on Wednesday. They were just chucked all over but now they are in order of feeding things, toiletries, clothing etc.

My partner is on with painting the kitchen and then living room and once carpets are down I can see the light at the end of this long baby prep tunnel!

Hopelass my midwife is the same. It's my first baby too so wasn't sure what to expect but it wasn't this! When I went last week for my 31 week check up reception asked me about whooping cough vaccine - I'd never even been told. I said I'd like to do a little research first but now fear I'm a little late as best time is before 34 weeks and I'll be 35 by next check up. I might have the afternoon of work this week to go (gives me another 'excuse' for a half day too)! I've not been weighed...she doesn't even ask how I am. Last time I saw my midwife (at 28 weeks) she measured and wrote me down as being 1/2 cm LESS than I was at 25 weeks. How can that be?! She also told me expressing breast milk wasn't the best. This week I had a replacement midwife who said it's breast milk expressing is fine! So I'm polite but don't worry myself too much about what she says or does. So long as baby is fine
  • hi iceicebaby hope everything goes well for you.

I've been wearing my mama and papas nighties and they are ok. they're not ultra supportive so you might still need a sleep bra. At the moment I'm not wearing a bra and have the nightie on with a little bit of support. I'm getting short of breath this evening and think a bra wouldn't help. 31+2
