What a load of rubbish! I had a section 12 days ago and no one shaved me or checked my nails. The only thing that they won't let in there is metal which sucked monkey balls as it meant that I was as blind as a bat.
They only shave the bikini line where they cut.. not a full on nakey nakey!
I had about 50 bracelets to remove plus other jewellery .. apparently they have a small electrical current running through the table and the metal interferes with it.
It proves quite difficult finding a hair bobble with no metal in!! .. scrunchies are the way to go!... and my 6ft 4 OH in scrubs meant for a hobbit and a hair net was hilarious..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Nope - not with me. Admittedly things are kept tidy down there but only as tidy as one can keep things with a huge bump in the way. My wound was not 100% free if you catch my drift.0

Ahhhhhh ok I got the wrong end of the stick!
Mine is quite low but I will maintain it to ensure they don't shave it. However, I bet it isn't high on my list when I'm finally giving birth.
I'm having such a "blah" day, we got our pram delivered, I was so excited, all put together, looks amazing, we both can't believe we will have a small person to put in it soon. Then opened the carseat up and it's usedit's all scratched on the base and has no cover. So tomorrow I will need to talk to John Lewis about a replacement and wait in again for it. It sort of dampened my excitement and now I'm in a "nothing is perfect" kind of mood. Quite unlike me, as I'm used to nothing being perfect! Plus we have 10wks to get it all sorted.

Have just heard about this on Lorraine:

Mums who have waxing, hard done, nails done etc before giving birth. Any of you bothering with any of this?
I'll definitely be having a bikini wax and will try and get my hair freshly washed, but seeing as I won't know the exact arrival time of little one I'm not sure it'll all last!
With DD, I had a lovely bikini wax done at 38 weeks as there was no way I could see down below to keep it tidy. Bikini waxes last me 4 weeks, so I figured it would be well maintained if I was early, on time or late. As it was I was 4 days early, so timed quite nicely. I will do the same this time round.0 -
I really think the nail varnish rule must differ with each hospital. I had an emergency section and the midwife removed my nail varnish and I had to take my wedding ring off before going into theatre as well. I never ever paint my nails and had them done as a treat for my sisters 30th birthday party the weekend before! To be honest everything was so scary that having nail varnish removed was not even on my list of worries at the time.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

hi lobey, happy 24 weeks
bump still feels odd and gets in the way lol. I've been using Champneys bump oil & body butter on and off. I can't see any stretch marks yet but I have been heavier than this without being pregnant so I figure that my tummy has stretched a fair distance before so might be used to it.0 -
Evening
I'm getting my nails done as soon as maternity leave starts can't wait (we aren't allowed them at work) I'm getting acrylic full turquoise glitter lol well that's the plan. As for waxing I don't go there its far to painful OH has been told he'll have to help me trim my lady bits because I can no longer see them haha
Off to the docs tomorrow for some pain killers and a sick note, I hope the doc is sympathetic to my pain, you know when sometimes they just look at you as if to say your pregnant get over it! Anyway ill have to go even though there not going to be able to help me, otherwise no sick note

I do remember them removing the nail polish from my toenails when I had an emergency section with ds1 but the hair one is a new thing for me! In fact, the midwife actually went to shave my bits as she hadn't noticed I'd already shaved anyway (can't comment on how it actually looked given that at that point I couldn't see what i was doing down there!)What a load of rubbish! I'm also blind without my glasses, I wonder if they will let me use contacts in theatre? I couldn't even see whether it was a girl or boy when they showed me DS1!0 -
Amus.. contacts are fine.. it is the metal they don't allow.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

I didn't even know they had shaven me before my emcs with ds. It was only afterwards that hubby said he saw them doing it!0
