I've never had to remove nail polish when I've had my lot.. the only reason they would want you to is so they can see if you are lacking in oxygen as the first bits to go blue are the nail bed and lips.. but they have all manner of monitors they can assess that with which nail polish has absolutely no bearing on... those clip on things for example.. they work through false/acrylic/gel nails and polish.. they aren't too keen on the glittery polish with metallic bits but plain polish is fine. I have an acrylic coating on my nails and then polished and it has never been an issue... other than they have to put them on sideways as my nails are so long the clips part wouldn't go on my finger.. but they still worked fine... esp when it pee'd me right off and I took it off and put it on a toe :p

Sam when did yours get into a proper position? Mine has been feet down/transverse all the way through.. I have only ever had 1 other non-sensible baby which was bottom first so not too awful but this is agony.

LOL, I went and got a gel manicure yesterday!!! More of a treat for myself though, I can't wear nail varnish in work so I've been promising myself one for months. I'm planning to go back the week before Wriggler makes his appearance and I'll get the manicure and pedicure and my waxing done (not a bikini wax though - my sister is a beautician and when she was training she asked if she could practice on me, well it turns out my hair is very coarse and it needs a special type of wax. End result was a lot of pain and bruising that really looked like lovebites right along my bikini line!!! I really don't fancy trying to explain that to a midwife!)

I think there are 2 pics of me with eldest and one with youngest - I hate getting my photo taken at the best of times, there is no way anyone is taking a photo of me after labour and delivery!

Making the most of resting up as today is my girls last full day in school, they finish at 12 tomorrow for the school holidays, 9 whole weeks and baby due in the middle. I must need my head checked! :rotfl:

We are supposed to be going to stay a weekend with OH's mum in a few weeks.. I will be 32.5 weeks. Mine have arrived at 30-37 weeks.. should we take all the hospital/baby stuff just in case???

You have finally told OH's Mum then? ;)

I shave my legs every few days but that's more because they itch if I let them go! I painted my toes and fingers last night, just because I know they'll make me take it off so it felt like tempting fate a bit :o and will be taking in lip balm and moisturiser as I get hideously itchy skin after being in hospital. Wouldn't bother with all the fake tanning etc. though, baby doesn't care and I'm sure they said skin to skin is better if you're skin is clean and smells like you without perfume.

I'm not a happy mum-to-be this morning, long story but I'll explain once I reach some form of resolution.

My Mum has started painting my toenails. I will probably shave my legs before and stick some concealer, mascara and lipgloss in my hospital bag.

    Hope everything is ok Sparkles.

We finally ordered our Nursery furniture on the weekend. It's not arriving until 20th July  At least this will give DH time to paint lol.

Can anyone find and post me a link to the birth stories thread. I think it's time i started being brave and had a bit of a read.

    Thanks

Have just heard about this on Lorraine:
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2349111/Bikini-wax-spray-tan-blow-dry--The-women-makeovers-GIVE-BIRTH.html

Mums who have waxing, hard done, nails done etc before giving birth. Any of you bothering with any of this?

I'll definitely be having a bikini wax and will try and get my hair freshly washed, but seeing as I won't know the exact arrival time of little one I'm not sure it'll all last!
Well when I was expecting DS I started maternity leave 5 weeks before due date (really it was 2 weeks Easter holidays then 3weeks maternity) In the last few weeks I was huge and had a broken wrist so there wasn't much I could do. I spent my sitting in the garden with my kindle- ( the weather was great) and painting my nails (also did mini-manicures for any lady relatives that visited- which was enjoyed by all)
Legs- hair is quite fine and fair so I did shave regularly but wasn't too worried.
Hair- I took a brush, a hairdryer and bobbles with me to hospital. Also washed it during one of my sessions in the bath during early labour. After several baths and 12 hours in the birthing pool I was like a prune by the time DS was delivered. Then when spinal block wore off (c-section) I was sent into the shower- bit scary when you've literally just been able to stand up but I was fine. Except couldn't bend to pick up anything I'd dropped or to my horror to clean up the blood all over the floor- embarrassing!
    Make-up I hardly ever wear.
However my three anxieties were my eyebrows which are dark and threaten to cover my entire forehead and the bikini area which I couldn't see and swimwear for the pool.
So eyebrows: I was vigorously plucking daily and packed 2 pairs of tweezers just in case. Only mirror in bathroom in hospital was too high too see myself tho lol.
Swimwear- bought a tankini but after about an hour in the pool of gas and air I was naked and didn't care who saw me lol.:rotfl:
Bikini area- bit embarrassing- DH used electric clippers on me after I asked him to help. Number 1 all over lol. It worked surprisingly well- no itching and very neat. I'm not keen on the idea of waxing on delicate areas :0

There I was getting hopeful and I'm past that now lol.. never mind it'll move when it does.

I just got some of my blood results back.. I have developed new antibodies which require the squawk to be delivered at 35-37 weeks at the very latest as they cross the placenta and cause severe anaemia and other more scary illnesses.. such as water logging (hydrops) and heart failure and clotting disorders in a foetus/newborn... The words 'Oh f***' escaped my lips.. This is in addition to the other ones I have from a MC 4 years ago which also cause anaemia in the baby... not too severe on their own but much more problematic when combined with others.

Nutshell.. we visited when I was about 19 weeks and OH told her then.. his sister carried on like it was the end of the world and did her 'poor me' act.. and I was nice to her.. I need a medal! lol.

Now to tell OH our latest 'news' ... deep breath...

Just called the hospital and my results were fine - no gestational diabetes. Good in a way, but still slightly concerned why my sugar levels have been high & baby's measuring big but I'll tackle that with the MW next week.

I'm not wanting a reason why she's big, I just want to know what it could mean really - mainly whether they'll let me go full term + or if they'll bring me in early. It doesn't really matter which it is but I'd rather know either way!

I know! Schools break up very early over here (I think they finish around the same time in Scotland but i may be wrong)

They both love school but have been counting down the days because my sister comes home for a week tomorrow evening, she's due 12 weeks after me, and we have family coming over from America on Saturday, they're all heading off to the coast for 2 weeks. Its only an hours drive away so I'll be driving up and down but basically they're running away with granny! Once they go back I have a week with the girls and then I should be induced, 3 weeks from Monday (if he has turned! Have been bouncing like crazy on my yoga ball)

That's fantastic news Claree! I was told that there is such a small margin with measurements that they can appear to be big without much of a difference size wise. Hopefully they won't need to induce you early.
