Why own a dog if you aren't going to walk it?

so you think it perfectly acceptable for this dog to end up in the same state as her previous one then.?
"Her other dog had to be put to sleep a few year ago as he was depressed, lost all his fur and going crazy because he had never been walked in the 12 year she had him apart from a few times when I took him on a long walk with my dog (who passed away two year ago) and the owner actually thought her dog was dead in his bed because he was exhausted off the walk. He wasn't used to walks so it tired him out."
If people want to treat a dog as if it suffered from agrophobia then get a stuffed fluffy for heaven's sake.To never take a dog out to me is cruel,it is taking away one of the great pleasures a dog has in it's life.0 -
I thought it had all blown over but I had to phone police out two hours ago. Nosy neighbours two daughters in their 40s, pulled up as I was bringing dogs back in to my house from a walk when one of them shouted abuse and threats at me. They both used their cars to block my car in and were shouting that my car is not getting out. I didn't respond, instead I just phoned police. They came out within 45 mins but seemed pretty useless. Basically just had a word with both neighbours and told them both that I don't wish to speak to them again so they must not bother me. As we live right next to each other we obviously going to see and pass each other. if anything else happens then to contact them. I was hoping they would get an harassment warning then arrested if it continues but police never seem to take these things seriously.
I think I will give the HA a call tomorrow and mention that I have had to involve police regarding harassment from one of their tenants. Hopefully they will log this against her and if there are anymore complaints, then hopefully she will be evicted.
I imagine this has been nipped in the bud now and I won't have anymore trouble from either of them so it should all blow over. I think the abuse and blocking my car in will probably still continue from nosey neighbours daughters when they visit though, not that they visit often but it's just embarrassing when everyone can hear. It's not the kind of noise you hear from my area so I think everyone is shocked. I have been here 15 year and they have been here about 25 year but they showing themselves up now going on like teenagers and also doing petty things. Maybe they need men in their lives to cure their boredom and not a dog as they can't look after them.
It's a shame neither of them walk their dogs though. So back on topic, why get a dog if its left all day most days AND you aren't going to walk it...
You don't deserve to put up with such behaviour and I know all too well of the frustration when the police can't do anything. Unfortunately with the situation we had with our neighbours, we were the council tenants and they owned their home. Abuse was shouted at me, my parents & my sister every time we went out (particularly from the mother & teenage son), dogs were barking in the garden all day and all night, stones being thrown at the house, blocks of ice in the Winter, foul language in every single sentence... I could go on.
The last straw with us was when the parents were out and left the kids (14, 13 and 6) with their 16 year old cousin and the whole lot of them were sitting on our fence throwing abuse at a man with downs syndrome a couple doors down. We actually ended up having to move, the threats were that bad.
All I can say is to keep pestering the HA and the police if they keep threatening you. It's awful when you have to live in such close proximity to people so dreadful. Hopefully it gets better for you and you don't have to go to such extreme measures!

I don't think anything else will happen. I have lived here for 15 years and never had a fall out with neighbours. We have all had little arguments with my immediate neighbour through the parking outside (blocking everyone in) but nothing as bad as this and we are always speaking again a few days after.
I can't see anything else happening. If they were that brave they would confront me when they are sober, I have passed them plenty times the past week and nothing was said as they know I stand up for myself without being threatening and violent. I am very surprised that they were so abusive and threatening towards me, infact the whole neighbourhood are shocked at their behaviour. If anything, it will be nosy neighbours two 40+ year old daughters who start whenever they see me. I have never spoke to them but they seem loud and are much heavier than me (should I be affraid
)
Both nosy neigbour and lazy owner have kept a very low profile since the big argument 4 nights ago. I have been out with the dogs 3 times daily walking around our estate and have not seen them in the garden, their doors have been closed. I wonder if they are ashamed now.
Here are two photo's of lazy owners previous dog (with my Yorkie) which she had put to sleep 3 years ago:

Photos were only taken a month or two before he was put to sleep when I started to bring him down to my garden to play/walk with my dog. All he done was sleep in his bed and walk around in circles, poor dog was so depressed and loney, even lost all his fur when around 5 year old. I can see the same happening to the dog she has now which is why I am so concerned about it.
I must admit the dog is not barking as much since the Housing Officer came out to speak to owner but that is probably because the dog is locked up in side more and not in the garden for long. Poor little thing is sat in the window all day when I pass, it just needs love and walks

sad and lonely are human emotions and whilst we love animals must not extrapolate these to animals asa way to validate our opinions.
people have to work. the dog is obviously safe so it annoys me when people try to make animals out to be humans.
as long as the dog is fed dry and has companionship when owners are home its really only an opinion that one has that the dog is sad with no evidence beyond righteous indignation
What breeds do not need walking or can be harmed by walking?
People may have to work but surely that is even more reason to give a dog a good walk/run before you go to walk so that it will probably sleep for a while as it is actually tired and not just because it is bored?
Dogs need more than food and some companionship and it annoys me when people think that is enough.
Have you ever had a dog? Every dog I have had and every dog any of my friends/family etc have had have loved being walked. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
You won't guess what I have just seen! Just as I was approaching my house with my dogs, lazy owner walked past with her dog! I couldn't believe my eyes! She seen me but turned away. She had gone to shop for her tabs and drink since our immediate neighbour said he will no longer do it for her. I told her she was too lazy to walk to shop herself and had all us running after her so maybe now the dog will get a little 5 minute walk to the shop and back every few days unless nosy neighbour is out and about and calling in the shop for her.
A five minute walk is better than nothing but I still feel sorry for her. She deserves a better life.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -

Some improvement is better than none I guess! Just saw your pictures of her previous dog, poor thing

I'm really curious what the neighbour could be using to record sound that is that sensitive to pick up conversations in someone else's house. Especially with walls, background noise, etc to take into account. How close is the window with the device that you saw? Can you describe it any more for us? If it had a red light, can you see any red lights/patches in gaps in her blinds that are left open or anything like that?0

I can see what looks like a laptop on her kitchen bench at the window which has been there for the past couple of days. I haven't noticed it before but I have had no reason to look. What I did notice different was a white box in the corner of her window with a red circle in the middle. I have looked all over google to try and find something like it but can't, I will have another look later when I get on the laptop and upload a photo. Her house is out the back of my house, the area is very quiet and very little traffic as we are in a cul de sac but I would still love to know how she is picking up sound.
As I said in a previous post, my immediate neighbour had a CCTV camera hooked up to his tv and he could pick up sound a few streets away so it is possible.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
Housing association tenants live up to their expectations. Again.
OP you've seen their true colours. Scum.
Good grief. Quite apart from the fact that the phrase you are looking for is 'living up to their reputation' this has to be one of the most sweeping statements I've heard in a while. Your implication is that home owners behave better than HA tenants and ALL HA tenants are scum. Do tell us what your considered opinion is on council tenants. Oh and what about private tenants? Are they scum too? Utterly ridiculous.0 -
I think we have a happy ending. The dog had not been seen or heard since I saw owner walk her a few nights ago. I believe she has rehomed her to her friends daughter around the corner. I mentioned this to another dog walker who thinks they seen this girl this morning with a dog that looks like owners dog. Fingers crossed
I knew it was too good to be true when I seen owner walking her, she was actually being walked to her new home. Even better
