  • 3 or 4 months ago, my weekly wages forgot to get paid by work, I have standing orders with directly go out of my account weekly.

As a result I ended up with 220 pounds worth of bank charges.

I wrote to Lloyds TSB - ( MSE template) unlawful charges and I was not willing to pay back the charges until the court case results were announced.

I had endless calls, 7 days a week, countless letters threatening me with court action!!

I had, had enough!!! I sent them a letter last week basically saying

"If you keep calling me, I shall report you for harassment OFT !!! and close all my account- I shall give you 14 days to reply"

Just looked at my bank account and surprise surprise they have refunded my all my money :-)

    THANKS MSE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Kind Regards, Nina Simone....
  • I sent in a financial hardship claim re my bank charges to Natwest on 26th October claiming £6457. I received a letter back dated 4th November offering £4953, which I have accepted, and look forward to the balance once the court decision is announced.

Thanks Martin  without the advice on your site, and the form letters, I would probably still be struggling to start my claim,
If anyone is in financial hardship, don't hesitate, get a claim in, I did and I have almost five grand of my money back.
Once again Martin thanks a million

From the time of your first letter to bank stating all the charges you wanted refunded to the time you got a decision, how long did it take, months or weeks?

    Hi

What exactly did you write in the letter you sent ?
  • I'm slightly confused! I sent the letters to Nationwide with a request for my £6,000 bank charges back. I said that i was suffering financial hardship but they only gave me £120 back as a couple of months where my wages didn't cover my direct debits i went straight over my overdraft limit. What do I do next? This was over a year ago. Should i send another letter or wait for them to contact me?

When did they offer the money?
What did you do about their offer?

  • Hi can anyone offer advice please, I have recently claimed £1900.00 in bank charges from the Halifax Bank. i claimed i was suffering financial hardship as i was in arrears with rent payments and council tax plus other debts , i was asked to fill a financial statement in which i did and forwarded to them straight away , they then asked me to prove i was in rrent arrears and council tax arrears to which i sent proof on the 2nd November 2009 photo copies of all letters i had received from the rent office and council tax people showing clearly i was in arrears , i also sent a new financial statement as some things as changed during the waiting process which meant i was worse off then i had originally was.
i have just telephoned the halifax as today is the 14th day since my letter and was told a letter was posted to me yesterday but the gentleman on the phone was willing to discuss the contents of the letter to me over the phone , Basically they have said i am not in financial hardship and are asking there debt managment team to contact me to discuss my debts and offer advice . as anyone ever come across this way of dealing with a claim and what advice can anyone offer on what i do next PLEASE HELP thanks in advance Neil
